In late 2011, I started a little project - recreating all 151 original Pokemon as pixel arts in Minecraft, based on the sprites from the original Pokemon Red and Blue games. Made my own custom texture pack and everything.
At first progress was steady, then technology happened (that is, technological happenings beyond my ability to comprehend or fix), and progress slowed, then technology happened again, and progress stopped altogether. In addition to completely losing the computer I had started my project on, I had also lost the world save I was doing it in and the texture pack I had made. The project was, for all intents and purposes, dead.
Then, in about mid 2013, I sat myself down, learned how to make a resource pack so I could recreate my texture pack, and I buckled down and restarted the project from scratch. And with better pacing, more experience, and the proper safeguards in place to prevent technology from happening again, I finally accomplished what I had set out to do more than two years ago.
I may or may not get around to uploading the world save and the resource pack and moving on to my next project, but for now I'm just happy to finally be done.
Edit: In retrospect, it might be a good idea to show a few of these off, so here are a few of my favorite sprites from this project.
The rest can be viewed in the album in the link above.
Wow, to think you took all that time to create the 151 Pokemon from the Kanto region is amazing! That's some incredible work Obsydian, and I'd say my favorite Pokemon is your Golbat. I love how it's tounge is like swaying to the right Anyways, congratulations from us fans!
Six months, give or take. I (re)started back in July or so of last year and got at least one pixel art done a day, apart from a couple of vacations I took.

Thanks. Though I'd say Golbat is more creepy than anything, what with those beady little eyes and that giant mouth and the tongue sticking out and the drooling and whatnot. Seriously, he's a giant mouth with wings. *shudders*
