Sorry Folks. In response to the general request of the owner of CGtextures.com Marcel Vijfwinkel to the Minecraft texturing community (and an unwitting oversight on my part) I have elected to suspend official distribution of this pack. Based on positive and warm response from you guys however I hope to go back to the drawing board, gather better stock resources to draw from for photo-manipulation, and create and even bigger and more glorious incarnation of the Fantastipack.
Keep a candle lit folks, I'll be back when you least expect it.
Stay fantastic.

Hah, yeah, I just finished it this week. It started for personal use but figured heck, other people might enjoy it.
Is there a better way new packs are should be launched? Like with more pomp and circumstance?
I'll defiantly recommend it to my friends. I just looked at it in-game and it's absolutely stunning! I'm using the 256x, so it's a bit laggy but I can live with it XD. You also may want to look into the text, because it worms around a bit...
it's incredibly rare to see a texture pack just suddenly appear fully formed like this... especially a good one.
this one is most excellent.
a bit of constructive feedback for you:
your grass has a rather serious tiling error. that dark line across it is very obvious. but grass is one of the most difficult things to tile properly. the only way to get it right is to either have a very bland grass pattern, or to make heavy use of ctm. i recommend using the pattern method. if you're interested, this thread will give you all of the information you need to make use of ctm.
your axes are at an odd angle. they look excellent in the inventory, but when held they seem oddly warped.
many of your items have loose floating pixels. the easiest way to remedy this is to simply open your entire item sheet, and put a solid black background behind them, this will make the loose pixels pop out at you for easy removal.
Awesome! I just started noticing the stray pixels in the items too. I'll plan to do a little polishing update once more feed back comes in. Also look into connected textures.
Just Photoshop... and a lot of patience. I am looking around for a way to make animated tiles from scratch though. (I'd like to implement more moving stuff after the redstone update)

what sort of animations? im pretty good at those myself.

Basic stuff I'd like to improve, water, lava, fire ect. But also branching out and adding little moving elements to mechanical blocks like dispensers or wotnot.
I checked out the pack you're working on too. Really cool! You aren't kidding, you've got some great gif elements. What's your method?

i use GIMP exclusively. for water and lava i just use the ripple filter, tweak the frames a bit so they play smoothly (i believe the method is called tweening) and made an overlay for the lava frames that gives it a glow.
but in general... i try to add a bit of motion wherever possible. in my case, having a steampunk themed pack, i can get away with adding rotating gears and pistons a lot, and occasional sparks spilling out of broken things, which is always good.
fire is quite tricky, however. what i did to make mine was made some varients of solid noise with similar variables, but different seeds (which might be called difference clouds in photoshop), and gave them a colored gradient, and used a layer mask to do the flames. basically you mask off the top part to be transparent, and use the smudge tool to change the flames, copying each previous layer to make the next so they flow. it's a little tricky to get it to loop well, but if you put some work into it, it's not impossible.
You should definitely check out the texture artists union if you need feedback on specific textures or help with certain methods.

Never been a fan of "realistic" packs but one can clearly see that you put a lot of time into this, nice job! hope the rest of the lot does it too.
