It's not on it. 1.5 does not use the terrain.png anymore, instead it now has every texture as it's own image located in the textures folder.
This makes it easier for mojang to add in new blocks/items, as they were very quickly running out of room on the old sheet. Plus now if they add something new you wont have to worry about packs not being up to date, as any image thats 'not found' will use the default.
Plus, you can mix and match texture size's. have 16x mixed with 32x and so on.

Go to where your minecraft.jar folder is at and open it in 7zip or whatever mac's use to open zip files, and just grab and drag out the textures folder.
