Ok, so the idea with this mod, daftly named Majora's Craft [ I'd like to change this ], is that there are masks of great power scattered about the world, found in various different ways. These would be, of course, tools of great wealth and happiness and of terrible fate. Every mask would have some good and some bad, of course.
Anyways, there is much to talk about with whomever will do me the great favor of programming all this. It will include some structure generation, the creating of many items[ including the masks, which will be worn like helmets ], and some mobs. Maybe a few blocks, I haven't thought it out, much.
Before coming here, however, I did search up " Majora's Mask " in the Mods section of the forum. The only thing which came up was the Masks Mod, which has recently included two of the three main Majora's Mask masks. However, if you find that this has sufficiently been done, just tell me. This may mean that we stop, or at least attempt to do something which differs from whatever was created along with that mod.
So, first, I'd like to see if anyone's interested in helping me, or even just seeing this through, and then I'll begin explaining a few of the things we'll add.
Here they are:
-Blocks and Items
-Mask
-Instruments
-Structures
-Mobs
Blocks and Items
Oh, god. I just wrote all this and then it got deleted. I'm such an idiot.
Now, we all know that sticks already exist. We don't need a new item just for these new abilities, so we'll just be changing the stick we all know well a little bit. Now they can be:
-Lit on fire [ by swiping with right-click on a flame, jumping through lava, or fighting Ghasts and Blazes. ] After a few seconds, however, the stick will burn and be gone. While it's still burning, you can use it to light a Dungeon Torch. Btw, right-clicking does no damage to blocks, but inflicts the same amount of damage unto mobs as does left-clicking. However you can break weak things like vanilla torches with it. Here, just look to Adventure mode as a reference for what can and cannot be broken.
-Broken when used as a weapon, once. One use. No damage meter, because it only has one use.
-Dropped from leaves which are not decaying. In other words, the trunk is still attached to the tree.
However, we will not be changing the name of sticks. They'll still just be sticks.
Deku Nuts
These can be found be trading with villagers, or by killing Deku Scrubs. Deku Nuts are throw-able items which emit a quick white flash when they hit the ground. Nearby enemies will be unable to move or attack when hit by this blast.
Dungeon Torches
There are two variation. One which sends out a Redstone signal when lit[ Operable ], and one which lights when sent a Redstone signal[ Standing ]. Both are two blocks high, but they look a little different.
[ Standing : Link Removed ]
[ Operable : Link Removed ]
[ Did anyone recognize the Zora village, there? ]
They also say only 'Dungeon Torch' when you hover your mouse over them in your inventory. That whole 'Standing' and 'Operable' thing is only for reference. I made it up on the spot.
Anyways, both are also craftable! The Standing ones are made with two wooden planks in the vertical stick-making pattern, with one coal on top, in a crafting grid. The other, Operable, is made the same way, but for there being sticks instead of wooden planks.
I don't really care how much you change them, to make them those block-y, eight-bit figures we know. That's up to you. [ Of course, I don't expect my programmer to do textures if they don't want to, but I do expect them to make the shapes of the items.. ]
Uh.. Is there anything else? I don't think so.. Not for now, at least. [ I'm trying to only add things which will actually be used. As in, in dungeons and the like. ] Anyways, let's move on.
Masks
Majora's Mask
The biggest part of this mod, Majora's Mask controls many features of it. Now, there are a couple things I have to say right now. Firstly, I have no idea how this is going to happen. If we try to make a heart-shaped mask out of little squares, who knows how ridiculous it's going to turn out, but we have to try. Maybe we'll just have to make a square version? [ Ooh, that'd be horrid. ] Secondly, you cannot wear this mask. Ok, let me explain. You can, but having the kind of power explained in the game would completely ruin this mod. So, instead, I think that wearing it should kill you. But really awesomely. Like, placing it in the 'helmet area' of your inventory and then closing the inventory GUI should trigger an animation of your character, limbs outstretched, floating upwards, with the mask on. After reaching a couple meters in height, you explode, and the mask [ Along with the rest of your inventory ] is left on the ground. Even if keepInventory is true, the mask will still be dropped, if you can do that.
Now, if you can guess it, this mask is highly valuable between various monsters. You know about the weaponry hierarchy[ Or whatever you'd like to call it ], where if you drop an item on the ground and it is more valuable than the one a monster holds, they will drop what they have and grab this new weapon. Well, this mask is on the very top of this list. If it is on the ground, zombies and skeletons will walk over to grab it, dropping any items they had, previously, including all of their armor. Of course, this would only work with monsters who can actually wear the mask. Ghasts, of course, have faces too large. Blazes would burn it up at the touch. Here's a list of monsters who will pick it up:
-Skeletons [ Including the Wither skeletons in the Nether, but only the ones with arms. Not the bosses. ]
-Zombies [ Which have a small chance of taking this out of chests which hold it. ]
-Aggressive Pigmen [ Only aggressive ones. Otherwise, it means nothing to them. ]
-A few of the mobs which I'll think up later. [ Well, actually, not many of these ideas are original! I'm just reading LoZ Wikipedia pages, lol. ]
I should also say that some villagers will give you a ton of emeralds for the Majora's Mask, at which point they will become a boss with their own special qualities, just like any other monster picking it up. I'll talk more about these, later.
This is obtainable within the Boss Temple..
Villager Mask
I just thought of this today, right after posting this topic, and now I love the idea! It's a simple mask, really. It can only be acquired by trading with a villager for it. When you wear it, trading prices will be dropped slightly. Maybe, 5-15% decrease, which will almost always be one less emerald. Not too useful, however, it also allows you to trade with witches! The mechanics of this work a little differently.
Witches will have a normal villager-trading-GUI, you know, two slots on one side, with pictures of the items on top, and one slot on the other side, with, again, a picture on top. Witches will not attack you when you wear the Villager Mask, so it will not be a tremendous effort to get items from them, other than having to actually find the witches.
They will trade things like potion ingredients and the like, and potions[ which require you to have a bottle ]. However, emeralds mean nothing to witches, and they would rather trade to you for other valuables, such as redstone dust and gold nuggets, and sometimes one potion ingredient for another.
When you wear the Villager Mask, however, your tamed wolves will not recognize you and, therefor, will not follow you. [ But maybe still teleport to you? ]
Bremen Mask
As seen in MM, the Bremen Mask, when worn, will cause young animals to follow you, maturing at an increased speed. Young wolves caught by this mask have a [ small-ish ] chance of growing to become tamed wolves. As you wear this mask, your speed is slightly decreased and a catchy tune will play in the background. It is obtainable in most of Fayrore's temples. [ Goddess of wisdom, and of the wind and the ocean. ]
Stone Mask
This ugly grey mask seems to have been hand-carved by gypsies or witches. It allows you to walk past aggressive mobs [ except for angry dogs ] without any bloodshed. However, if you hit just one, all of the nearby [ about ten meters away ] monsters will see you for what you truly are and attack, so be cautious. Unfortunately, when you wear the Stone Mask, your tamed wolves will not recognize you, and will stop follow you. This mask is available in most all temples.
Blast Mask
The Blast Mask can be found in Shadow and Din's temples. Din is the goddess of the earth and the flame, and of power. While wearing this mask, if you are to sneak [ Shift ] and attack[ LMB ], you will explode. This mask is extremely cheap, and extremely dangerous, so be careful! [ When you explode, you will die and you will lose this mask! ] Also, while wearing the Blast Mask, you are not as easily affected by damage from explosions [ I don't know how this works, sorry. ] or fall damage[ Now five blocks instead of four], though any kind of fire damage [ Except for explosions, duh! ] will set this mask off.
Deku Mask
The Deku Scrub Mask is a bit trickier to obtain. There are two ways. Here's the safer way : When a Deku Scrub is low on health [ anything below full ] and has been stunned[ shield bash or Deku Nuts ], you can whip out your ocarina [ or whatever other instruments I put down in the Instruments section, in the future ] and play the Song of Healing, at which point the scrub will disappear. In its place will be a Dungeon Chest, which will contain the Deku Mask, and possibly some other goodies. This mask has the power to transform you into a Deku Scrub! Here's how that works:
You place the mask in the 'Helmet' area of your inventory, and close the inventory GUI. This triggers an animation which is basically just you wearing the mask, and your screen flashes purple once, and then you're a Deku Scrub. However, you don't look much like the ones down in the Mobs section. Instead, you look like a baby version of yourself[ a human ], but for that your skin looks like oak logs, and your eyes are orange and yellow. Instead of a mouth, you simply have a cylindrical opening[ which actually sticks out of your face! ], which you can use to shoot Deku Nuts, if you have any[ With RMB ]. Because of your new wooden nature, you will now die immediately with any kind of fire damage, making the Nether extremely unsuitable for you, in your current form. It also means that you cannot use burning sticks without endangering yourself!
Um.. What else?Oh, you are also now unable to jump. Instead, upon pressing your spacebar, you will spin. This is a useful attack, as it deals one heart of damage to anything you come into contact with while spinning. When you press and hold your spacebar while atop a Deku Flower, you will burrow into it. If you wait two [ literally, two ] seconds, you will hear a sound which will signal that you can let go of the spacebar, propelling you five to seven blocks into the air, and then gently floating you down. If you let go of the spacebar before the sound is heard, you will simply jump back out of the flower without being shot upwards. If you press shift or spacebar while in the air, you will stop floating and immediately fall to the ground.[ I have another idea which I'd like to talk to people about before I say it for sure. Tell me if you're interested. When in Deku form, and while in a forest biome, you can right-click trees ( specifically, the logs ) to trade with them. The trades will always be plants which can be found in a forest biome. Deku Nuts, oak saplings, sticks, apples, etc. In exchange, they'll ask for rare and precious items. Gold nuggets, maybe some Zelda items, who knows. Tell me if you don't like the idea. ]
More to come.. Please excuse the ridiculously slow pace at which I type this. :\
To The Programmer
Now, the message I'd really like to get through right now is this : There is no rush. I do not expect you to finish this any time soon! If you do, that'd be great! Awesome, really! But I don't expect it. I really am open to it taking up to or close to a year! As long as it gets done, I'm happy.
Now, also, I'm open to suggestions. If there are some things that you're not sure about, as far as your ability or the possibility of it, whatsoever, I am open to suggestions on how it can be fixed, and I'll tell you what I like out of our choices, or just give you a new idea in its place.
The only thing I expect is for you to actually put effort into this project. I'm not talking about undieing devotion, just trying. Seriously, I don't even expect you to or not to finish this project. Other things may come up in life. I get it. Just try, please.
Unfortunately, I have to go, but I'll be back later, to work on this.Ok, so I am now back and am working on this post. Excuse the sudden bursts of incomplete information, if there is any, as it will be fixed momentarily.
Here are a few:
Deku Sticks
Really, this is not a new item. Simply, it's a new ability for an old item. Sticks can now be caught on fire, and then either used as a weapon [ to light mobs on fire ] or used to light other blocks on fire. [ Perhaps one of LoZ's dungeon torches? ]
Rupees
Emeralds. They're already implemented, but I thought I'd point out that this will be the only currency. Maybe
I'llwe'll make blue and red emeralds to represent five- and twenty-dollar Rupees.Majora's MaskI'll just put this down at the bottom of the post or something, whatever. The point is that I'll work on it later. Hell, I'll just move all of this up to the main post. [ That would be so much easier for me ]This will most likely be the most dynamic item in all of this mod, maybe even all of this game. When you, yourself, wear it, there will be an awesome animation of you consumed in its powers, and then you will explode and die. However, you will be able to use it for much, much more. Seriously, this will be the main focus of the mod.
Stone Mask
As previously mentioned, this will allow you to sneak past aggressive mobs without any bloodshed. However, if you are to hit even just one of them, they will all see you for what you really are and begin to attack.
Villager Mask
This can only be collected via trading with villagers. It can be worn as a sign of friendship, at which point trading prices are dropped. However, if you misplace it, a zombie can and will pick it up, allowing it to go unnoticed by villagers, and, of course, bringing their doom.
Bremen Mask
Small animals [ baby.. Anything ] will follow you and mature quickly when you wear this around them. Wolf pups have a small chance of growing to become tamed dogs.
Blast Mask
When you sneak [ Shift ] and attack[ LMB ], this mask will explode. This, however, will kill you, and does mean that this mask has only one use before disappearing forever. When you wear this mask, you also take less damage from explosives and falling.
Anyways, that's all I've got, for now. More items and more in-depth descriptions coming at a later time.
Interested?
But the Blast Mask being activated by 'shift' and the 'LMB' could cause some accidental explosions, so maybe the 'B' key instead?
That's the idea, lol.
At first I was thinking it should've just been left mouse button.
Well in that case, keep it in! I just think it would suck if you accidentally set it off in your storage area or near something important. But if you made the default config with the mask explosion mapped to the shift+LMK, but could be remapped, that would be better.
I'll try and learn some coding and see what I can do. I want this mod to happen.
Yay!
