This is a super easy way to make a redstone device repeat a task over and over again.
Basically, you need 3 Redstone Torches, 3 blocks that redstone torches can be placed on, and some redstone wire. Simply arrange them like this (I prefer to make them three blocks apart, two between them, for compactivity)
Why does this work?
It works because the torches are in a conflicting position.
The first one depowers the second one when the third one powers the first one, but then the second one turns on because the first one is depowered by the third one being powered, but then it repeats over and over. It's a simple circle and can be made into a clock if repeaters are added.
This can be used for
apocalypse spawners, base defenses,
flashing lights, and more.
That's true, but usually chunks stay loaded (unless you go really far away).
I used this for a survive the mobs server once. The spawners were set in command central while the survival players (who start in creative) are building their base. The creative admin (who owns command central) will stay in creative mode during the mob attacks, and the spawners will use 3-clocks. It's really a nifty process. Also, you can put swords in the zombie spawners so the zombies recieve swords or even armor.

I'm working on some nifty crap too.
