Thomer
A luscious forest surrounds you and your travelling group. You happened upon these fellow crafters on your way from your last home. Something about the air that day told you that it was time to leave. You weren't sure what it was.. But you trusted your instincts. You always have, and you always will. This was not the first time you'd felt the pull of nature, beckoning you to abandon your home and build anew. No, you've grown accustomed to this feeling, and you embrace it. It was mere coincidence that you found your new traveling companions.
It's been ages since you've seen another one of your kind. You gaze down at the map in your square, meaty hands, noting the terrain around you.
"It's just up here. I saw it from the mountaintop back east." Synray Thingmaker spoke through his mask with solace in his voice. He, too, had been called from his previous dwelling in the deep south. Alongside him walked his brother and long-time friend, Achu Thingmaker, a self-proclaimed "collector."
"You said it was a small village, right Syn?" Achu replied in a casual tone.
"Yes, on a small section of flatlands. I set up a sort of basecamp at the foot of this mountain. I was also able to herd some livestock near here before I returned for you, but I didn't take time to build anything. I just, sort of, dumped them in a large hole and left them." Synray pulled his goggles back up onto his forehead as the group descended from the snowy mountain peak. He turned to Achu, you, and the rest of the group as you all rounded the bend, bringing in to view a medium-sized flat section of carved-out land at the base of the mountain, just as Syn had said.
"Lovely." Achu spoke flatly, with a hint of sarcasm slipping from his lips.
"Welcome... to Thomer."

Welcome to this vanilla server, player. I'm in need of a creative outlet, and that's where you come in. I love playing Minecraft, but I don't really like all of the fancy additions to it by mods like Tekkit. I've used Tekkit, and it was an awesome brain-bending experience, but personally, I favor the simplicity of a nomadic existence.
The whole idea for this server is that we, as the Crafter race, are nomadic by nature. We build a home, a city, a world, until it's perfected. Once we're satisfied, we enjoy the fruits of our hard work for a time, and then we move on to repeat the process. That is what I want to bring to you.
You will start in a small area (mostly) untainted by construction. You will exist in harmony and roleplay with the group you traveled with until the immediate area is settled. Once that happens, one player will be appointed "chieftain" of the next settlement. That player is then allowed to choose the location, building regulations, name, and lifestyle of the next settlement (subject to agreement from the rest of the players or at least one of the original authors, myself or Achu). This settlement can occur anywhere in the world. Once the location has been found in the overworld, the group's goal will be first to create a nether portal there, to be used for fast-travel from the previous settlement(s). This process is repeated and refined indefinitely until a general endpoint.
Rules: 1. No destruction/inhibition of other player's work. This rule is self-explanatory. To exist in harmony is to exist in relative peace. This doesn't mean you can't joke around with one another, but be reasonable. Don't steal, grief, plant traps, or murder. 2. Sharing is caring. Most items/blocks will be kept in a central storehouse, to be used by everybody. Rarities may be kept in small numbers by a player*, but most extreme rarities (Diamonds, gold, and surplus iron) will be kept in a vault, the location of which will be known only by the chieftain and/or the authors (if you don't want to tell us, you don't have to). The vault is only meant to protect and ration the items fairly. If you need or want a few diamonds for a tool or some enchant-able armor, all you need to do is ask, and you shall receive. 3. Respect Thomer as a beautiful gift. Do not abuse her resources by creating ugly stripmines, massive mobgrinders, or giant lavapits. She is aesthetically gorgeous, and we, as Crafters, do not stand for the destruction of her nature. 4. Interact with your fellow crafters. As tempting as it may be to run off on your own, remember that the point of this server is to travel as a small society, and to interact as a group of characters. Try to stay in character and to speak properly (without text-speech). Also, try to stay in the immediate area of the settlement as far as housing goes. It may be a pain, but it creates a wonderful sense of companionship.
Vanilla?
This server will be vanilla in gameplay, but will maintain the use of a few plugins. These plugins will not affect gameplay, but will be small things like an in-game calendar system, seasons, time-keeping, whitelist/blacklist, and standard grief protection/rollback abilities.

I play a lot on OniCraft, with several of my friends. We really like to build industrious semi-vanilla cities, make them reach a point of near self-sustenance, and then sacrifice the profited items to the Gods.

How do you feel about the concept of this server? I believe it is quite different than any server I have ever played. I have been waiting for something like this for a good long time.
If someone needed materials and you weren't online, would you welcome them to your house to share? Of course, but within reason of course. If I was working on a project and the person took needed supplies, I would ask for them back, if possible.
If someone needed in your house because they were being attacked by zombies, would you let them in and risk your house? Absolutely, we have to support one another in all we do if we are to survive.
How often do you play minecraft? I havent played much in the past few weeks due to finals in class. But, I do plan on play much more now that they are done and over with.
Do you intend on being a long-term resident of the server? I do indeed.
Describe what you do during an average in-game minecraft day: I will work on a project, mine, or collect supplies.
Post a picture of your most prized creation: I do not have any, I haven't been playing recently. Also, I had to factory reset my computer due to errors that were hindering its performance,

It sounds scary but it's kinda neat.
Oh, also, I make weird music.
