I have 3 subs without ever posting a video. I guess people subscribe to me for my comments?

I consider someone a YouTuber if they have a recognizable fanbase, i.e. people talk about this person/say they are fans of this person. This tends to happen around 50,000+ subs. To be honest, 50,000 isn't even that many subs compared to the rest of YouTube. Sure, the number in itself is a lot, but in order to be just in the top 1,000 most subscribed channels, you need 600,000+ subs.
There are two types of "youtubers"
1. People doing it for there full time job, and thus their job title is technically "youtuber." Your making a living off of this and have a fan base.
2. People doing it as a hobby who do it simply for fun and are "youtubers" , and thus your sub count does not matter for this and almost anybody can be this.
I have 11,000 subscribers and I don't like to call myself a YouTuber...
Here's also a little tip, subscribers don't mean anything. YouTubers don't get paid by how many subscribers they have, it is all about the views. Sure, subscribers help with views, but still there are more efficient ways to get views than to rely on your fan base. A lot of networks will inflate your subscriber count. I've seen a lot of people partnered with TGN that have 50,000 subscribers, but only 700,000 or so views. I have only 11,000 subscribers, but 4.5 million views. 5x less subs, but 9x MORE views. Interesting, huh?
Youtube calls them 'Official Content Creators' when they reached 100,000 subs, YT will also send them a plaque...If you have a partnership, YT also will call you a content creator....Youtubers are guys (or gals) who is addicted to youtube...
I had a vision of the world ending. I shall give you a hint. Mutant Shiba Inus.

I'd say 50-100 for the average Joe, 1000-5000 for the hobbyist, 10,000-50,000 for a side job and 100,000-500,000 for the career. With 1M+ being the aristocrats.
Ps I wonder why the OP and 2nd guy share the same avatar.

I guess so, lol.
So, am I a youtuber? Nope. Will I ever be one? Nope. Do I care? Not really.
As long as you have fun posting videos and you post them regularly, subs don't matter.

I only post videos weekly. I'll start posting videos daily.
And watch your net content quality drop rapidly, along with your subscriber count.
Tell that to pewdiepie ;P
Implying PewDiePie has quality at all.
Being a YouTuber is simply that: being a YouTuber. All you have to do is make videos regularly and bam! You're a YouTuber.
