IIRC Israel gave people money, free jobs, and houses to get them to live in the deserts and do stuff there.
The main incentive for people in that situation was to escape widespread persecution of Jews all over Europe after WWII. Jewish refugees were considered unwelcome in many countries.
My main point; people often talk about spreading the population over the globe because "it looks like there's enough room". The solution is NOT that simple at all. Individuals' lives and families must also be taken into consideration. We are not just statistics.

Nah nah, this was recently I believe. Because everyone was in the cities around the coast, Israel wanted people to go out and move to the desert.
And this is why I'd like a resource based economy, not the current one.
That would just be worse. People would stockpile water and stuff to drive up prices and that kind of thing, until a government decided evaporate the oceans to create lots of fresh water or something. That way stockpiling money = stockpiling essential resources thus driving the price up quickly and getting easy local-area monopolies on essentials.
If we take out the poles, theres still plenty of room in all most all of Eurasia, all of the America continents(except northern Canada), and with modern irrigation, you can make city's in the desert (Las Vegas, Dubai).
Okay this post is showing a distinct geographical ignorance. There being 'space' for people does not mean people can actually live there. For a start, huge areas of land you're calling "empty" are currently intensively farmed to feed the ridiculous needs of western people. Secondly, where exactly are you finding all this 'room' in the Americas and Eurasia? The 'Empty' bits in South America are the Andes, the Amazon rainforest (haven't we destroyed enough of that already?) and the Patagonian desert.
The only spots I see in Europe are remote areas of Scandinavia (highly impractical places to live) and Siberia.
Basically the only scope for expansion is by either converting farmland or destroying more of the worlds natural areas, which frankly is a ridiculous and potentially irreversible solution to a problem that could be much easier solved with higher global standards of living and better understanding of contraceptives in developing nations, particularly Africa.
One has to consider environmental impacts as well as socio-economic impacts. We aren't the only inhabitants on this earth. One only has to visit any remote beach to find vast quantities of our crap piled up upon the seashore. Forgive me for sounding like a bit of a tree-hugger, but how can one not find the Great Pacific Garbage Patch incredibly disturbing? Until we humans can learn to manage ourselves I'll remain resolute the world would be better off with far fewer of us.
Unfortunately the main reason we Westerners consume such vast quantities of food when we don't need to is our desire for quality, not because we eat too much food. We demand fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh bread, fresh meat... All this means vast quantities of food are simply thrown out because they don't meet our high standards for food quality.
There is no simple solution to that; everyone likes fresh fruit and vegetables, and they're damn good for you too. Pretty much the best way for us to cut down our waste would be to buy more and more frozen or canned food, because wastage in those areas is far less than in delivering fresh food.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, you seem to be grossly underrating the vast costs and resources wasted to make Dubai and Las Vegas inhabitable. Not a good model city; not at least until you can get close to 100% renewable energy for desalination which isn't going to happen any time soon at the rate we're going.

I don't know if someone sad this already but, this is a quote I heard while listening to my history teacher
:" Earth has a funny way of doing things, when Earth gets to populated it balances itself out. When theres to many people you will start to see things like famine, poverty, sickness, and even war. If the world gets over populated those things will start to happen uncontrollably. The opposite will happen when in demand of humans. Less people less famine. Fewer citizens better economy. "
Now, I'm not sure if that is true or not but it does make sense to me.
Everyone that is on the earth is here for a reason. There are a lot of extra children that are being born, and we need to cut that down before we start running out of resources. I mean what happens when there is no more trees left?
Greed will be our downfall not overpopulation. We have more then enough resources to feed our population but when we hoard it like we do then we have a problem.

You have a point about this. Eventually, in thousands of years, we are bound to run out of resources. When the zombie apocalypse comes, we are the ones going to be fighting each other, and not the zombies.

If by "hoarding" you mean "producing and selling", I have to strongly disagree with that.
OP, has it never occurred to you that this has occurred to basically everyone with any common sense at some point? It's not exactly an original thought.
Um... you're doing the exact same thing in both your posts. First you imply overpopulation is your own concept, and now you're calling TOD self-righteous for for insulting you when you're doing the exact same thing to him, in a much less clever way I might add (also, is 'Chris' a reference to something, because that's not his name).
No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
So meanwhile, OP, if this isn't just about you being an edgy fourteen year old who thinks everyone else is dumb sheep while you are Einstein and actually a legitimate discussion, then what be your solutions?

Homie, I asked you about your views. You gotta front an intelligently-made plan to deal with the situation you apparently have a strong opinion of. What do you think we should do?

Define "resource based economy".

That of course if we were in real big trouble with population..

I tire of wasting my time with you.
Don't expect me to give you directions!
It just means more fans!
It really isn't that bad...
Most of the Japanese spend their time in concerts like mine
Here's one of my concerts (one song from one concert) for example:
