I only just started noticing this, which is wierd since now that I know about it it's blatantly obvious. One day while walking home from school I noticed that my brother always put his left foot on a crack on the sidewalk. He literally went out of his way to avoid not doing so. At home it was even more obvious as he took huge steps to keep his left foot on the darker planks of wood. When I pointed it out to him, he said that he had no interest in stopping, as it wasn't really impacting him in any noticeable way and had become a part of him.
First off: What on earth is going on with him?
Second: Is it fixeable?
And third: Should I be worried about it, particularly his lack of desire to fix it?
My money's on this. I looked up a number of cases of sidewalk related OCD, and I guess it's a tad worrying that he doesn't feel like fixing it, if the lengths he goes through to accomplish it are as great as you imply.

At a loss for words? Here's a few you can use: Welcome, to Night Vale...
He's probably just being silly or superstitious. Nothing wrong with it: it'll fix itself when he realizes superstition is a load of BS.
no, because if he was superstitious he would blatantly avoid stepping on the cracks, if i read the OP right he's blatantly trying to step on the cracks

In the name of anonymity I won't say anything exact, but he's a lot older than I am, and apears to have been doing this for quite a while. It doesn't look like he has any plans of stopping either.

Maybe you should call a carpenter to fix it.
I think your brother likes stepping on cracks...if it breaks, then what would happen? He might fall.

Unless he thought bad things would happen if he avoided it. Superstition goes both ways.

Actually, he WANTS to break his mother's back.
I do the same thing, except I avoid the cracks.
