But let's end this thread jack. We derailed the thread train hard.
Back on topic please, here I will begin again...
My jock stepbrother (who thankfully I don't live with) saw me playing Pokemon and when his friends were around this was his reaction "OMG LOLWTFBBQ U NOB U PLAY POKEMANS WAT R U 8 YRS OLD OR SUMTHIN??!??!!11" and when his friends left "Hey I need to get a DS so I can play with you, I was hooked on playing Emerald as a kid."
I don't believe Pokemon ever came up in my four years at High School, except for when we discussed fads from when we were in elementary school.
I'm 18, and still play it sometimes. But it's more of "cool, I found it under a mountain of random **** in my closet. I'mma play for a few minutes for nostalgia."
Only kids think that Pokemon is for kids. There's plenty of college-aged people that play Pokemon. Indeed, I would say that it's the target audience for the games.
When you get right down to it, Pokemon is a turn-based strategy game with a lot of options and a lot of numbers. This makes it interesting and deep, especially when you get into double and triple battles.

Indeed, there's EV training which is quite complicated. There's the system that the Capturing System uses, this one is actually confusing. Then there's moves with priority levels.
I have a couple of friends who still play Pokemon. They don't really get picked on, but it is referenced a lot of times. It's more of just minor teasing the same way they would tease me about my old Minecraft addiction.
I don't think kids get picked on for playing pokemon (at least rationally anyway). Besides, kids play pokemon because it's an easy game to play and the graphics are cute (unless you are talking about certain pokemon then maybe not).
I don't really play pokemon anymore, not because I'm older now, but more because of how the game is really really boring at it's core.

1. They do get picked on for playing Pokemon, I am a witness
2. Only Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal are easy
3. Graphics are not cute, cute is baby kittens
4. "game is really really boring at it's core" That's an opinion
END. OF. DISCUSSION
I'm just a Minecraft player that likes to give my opinion. Nothing special to see here.
I was being sarcastic. He was making an absurd generalization, so I made an equally absurd generalization.
I know.

If I'm not mistaken, that appears to be a bear. Not a Japanese person. Close, but no cigar.
False. 80% of my Japanese friends don't play Pokémon, and they didn't get picked on before they moved here.

Maybe people there aren't all obsessed with Pokemon in any way in the first place. 0_0

"Wait guys, no, he play's Pokémon. He's cool! We can't beat on a dude like that!"
Impossible.
I'm pretty sure the gender doesn't effect capture rates, as well as nature.

That's true, but the whole point of this thread is why does it happen at all?
