Earth bending. Don't like someone? Encase them in several tons of rock to show them who's boss, leaving a 2 inch hole for them to breath. Survival situation? You have shelter in seconds. Heck, you could catch food by trapping an animal and leaving it ripe for the capture. You could make fire by summoning flint and steel out of the ground. You could build a fortress out of nothing.
In my opinion, Toph really didn't use her power appropriately in the show. She could have done so much more.
Either air or earth. I would love to be an air bender so i could fly and **** but earth would be sick because i could grow some crazy weed lmao but for real it would be cool because it's everywhere.

I could change a huge area of land without moving my hand very much. An example would be instantly morph a flat area of land into a mountain.
I could even trap my enemies in a cage of rock.
It is everywhere, so it a convenient element to bend.
Of course, it is the same for fire, but I'm a bit careless at times, so air would be a safer option for me.
Why purify the world when you can just burn it down?
1. Air is everywhere
2. I want to see tornadoes, i have never seen one
3. When it is so darn hot.
Water's everywhere. You could certainly punch someone down with it, wash them out, or use it to get places. Also, looks pretty cool.
