They cause WAY more trouble than they're worth, especially where there are lots of people involved.
Sure your gun might save you from someone breaking into your house, but what's the ratio of innocent people that get hurt vs the number of people who's lives are saved from guns?
In case I didn't make myself clear, I don't own any guns.
Also, I'm not saying that shooting a gun isn't any fun. I somewhat enjoy it. It's just that I don't think they should be owned by just anyone.

Lets just say everyone that is shot by a gun is innocent. About 11,000 people are killed each year by guns, including suicides, gangs, and defense.
As for the group that claims, guns are for self defense, I never have bought. Guns are just fun to shoot and are extremely relaxing.
I would love to start a poll on how many people here actually fired a gun more then once and don't own a gun.
I can beat almost everyone here that does not have a gun, either has not fired one or was broken from firing one.
I don't but my dad inherited a few after my grandfather passed away. A Type 56 SKS, two other shotguns I assume and a revolver. Right now all they do is collect dust. If I do end up owning any guns I can only imagine myself shooting at non-living targets whenever I get bored. For that though I would have to go to a range...
a .22 caliber rifle and a .50 cal black powder Hawkins
This sooo much. I have been trying to get my hands more black powder firearms, and this one is just great in my opinion.
Edit:
I have been thinking about purchasing a Colt Dragoon Revolver. I have seen them around for sale, but I have not thought too deeply into purchasing one because of the hassle of black powder. I have heard of conversion kits, but I am worried that if I do convert one that I wont be able to fire black powder from it. (Yes I know that it wont be able to fire modern cartridges, and will only be able to shoot cowboy loads, but thats fine with me.)
have you used one from rock island? Im kinda iffy, since theyre not as well known as colt, browning,S&W,etc.
Not personally, bit I've never heard anything bad about them, and a lot of good things about them. The only reason they're cheap is because they're made in the Philippines. There's nothing wrong with that though. Springfield armory's lower end 1911s use slides and frames made in brazil.
I have some sort of Ruger rifle I shoot from my window when I'm bored. (I live in the countryside, in case you're scared) I don't know what it is named, but it's 6.5 cal. It's technically my dad's though.
It isn't particularly impressive, but it allows me to beat self styled ninjas 9/10 times.
That's... not even true. It's just more difficult in Canada than most places in the States.
I am getting a harpoon gun though, eventually.

Just wondering...
Is safer there? More dangerous? Do people still have guns?
Are there any cons of this?
I love the Lapua, but I wince every time I pull the trigger.

2.5 million crimes are prevented by gun each year. I really do not have to do the math on that one. Guns do prevent crime.
edit, and I have more then 1 gun.

In Canada you cannot use violence unless they physically attack you.
Meh.
