They obviously don't want kids playing games during school. Thus why pretty much every flash game website ever is also blocked. Do you have websense? It's also possible that your school uses the generic websense rules that every school does which bans all gaming websites and they didn't specifically block Minecraft.
What the above users have said about proxies and such. Also, the majority of school computers are extremely weak, and most likely will not be able to run any sort of games, let alone Minecraft.

Wanna know Jack Sparrow's favorite country?
Somalia. Because it puts the ARRRR in anarchy! DOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOOH.
Kids these days don't know how good they have it. Back when I was a kid we had to make do with playing Oregon Trail at school. And that **** was real too... people died.

With that being said I can't wait for that thing that was talked about a while ago about getting a version of Minecraft to be used at shools. I'm skeptical that it's even being worked on considering they haven't given any updates on the subject.

Ah, something like EduMinecraft? I'm not really seeing the point how this can learn something to Students though.
I think it was about using the features of the game to make it useful for learning and fun. Don't wanna go back 50 pages on the announcements to find it, too lazy.
.
The computers on our school is way too weak to handle any kind of games. :/
You shouldn't actually be able to play it during lunch because lunch is for eating.
Sorry, what? I couldn't read what you were saying because I was too busy play Killing Floor during my lunch period.
Seriously?
Somalia. Because it puts the ARRRR in anarchy! DOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOOH.
but hey, MC is fun in single player too (something tibia never had) so just throw it on a flash drive or something?
If you really want to, though, download this and put it onto a flash drive. (Use at your own risk, don't blame me when you get caught)
