You can't always walk over yourself like this. Chances are, if you even think about it for a second, you're going to be that forever alone guy you are always worrying about.
Of course, you would love to be with someone else, but I'm telling you that forcing a relationship into your life isn't going to get you anywhere. Above all else--you must first figure out yourself. If you can't ascertain that, then I wouldn't be worrying about a girlfriend for Valentines day.
Now, do your thing, and you will see how things nicely flow with your way of action.

Weigh the situation and just casually go for it. If shes actually is into you, and sees confidence (theres absolutely nothing that turns women off more than being under-confident, or self deprecating)., she'll respond. If you want someone in your life, theres absolutely no reason to not have it because you're afraid of getting hurt. You're young, have fun.
Also, if shes a typical girl, she'll probably find the valentine's day thing romantic. Bear in mind, when you don't act, chances are someone else will. Even if a girl is "interested in you" its almost a given they don't care enough to wait around for you.

Haha, I feel for you, bro. I'll definitely be alone for Valentine's day... hopefully not forever alone, lol
And, honestly, it'll be awesome. I'm not really one for relationships anyways.

I'll probably be alone, but it depends on if I can man up and ask the girl whom I like(like that'll ever happen).
Valentines day would be the best day to ask her!

Exact situation for me.
Deal with it.

I have other things to do in life than screw about with some relationship.
I also have a long stretching aversion to involvement or closeness. The less people involved, the more right it feels.
Oh, so that's what you mean't by maybe..
I know that it's difficult to ask her out right off the bat, so I would get to know her a bit, if you haven't.
Oh ya Im already friends and everything. Its cool.

Sounds great.
But, I'm not the one knowing everything about you. The only people who can fully support you are people you know--and yourself.
