You may post your own riddle, but only if a previous riddle remains unsolved.
If you can't think of a riddle and solved the previous riddle, just say something along the lines of "someone else ask a riddle for me".
Try not to repeat answers.
Write riddles in readable English.
Do not post riddles that have no answer.
Wait your turn. It is your turn when someone solves a riddle and "passes" or does not post another riddle, or when you yourself solve a riddle. You must wait until the maker of the riddle confirms your answer.
Now. The basic idea is, I'll start with a riddle and you try to answer it, using any hints I've posted and trying to avoid any answers others have used. If you get the right answer (must be confirmed by the one who asked the riddle) then you can post the next riddle. If the asker does not confirm/deny answers after about three days or so, then their riddle may be ignored and a new on posted. ONLY do this if the asker refuses to participate.
Here's mine (might take you guys a while):
I reside within this boundless domain,
With neither walls nor deathly bane.
I arise in tall, smooth shapes,
Enduring e'en as flame's maw gapes.
I traverse those hungry beasts,
Sating flame with hearty feast.
I behold all unspeaking,
With this vast arrogance of a king.
Neither mortal cold nor hellfire's flame will end me,
For I ascend once more as you pass by, Death, my enemy.
What am I?
Yes, it's been two years since this thread was started. That riddle there is obviously solved long ago. Check the last page(s) of the topic for the most current riddle.
Tips:
The one main rule with a riddle in verse is to avoid mentioning things that make it obvious. The first thing many people think of related to an hourglass is sand, glass, and the hourglass shape itself. In that order. Ideally, avoid mentioning any of them, but you can usually get away with merely avoiding just the first. Similarly, if the riddle is about a rainbow, avoid mentioning rain and colours. Be creative. Be imaginative.
In addition, it is best to try to word it so that it seems to point to something entirely different. Distract them with something that seems counterintuitive, but still fits the answer perfectly. Deception is the key.
Most plants die in frost or fire, but grass is perfectly able to survive both. It's practically impossible to destroy grass without nuking the whole damned planet... and even then it'd probably still survive somehow.
Thanks, Clicks :smile.gif: I have more.... :tongue.gif:

Anyway, your turn for the riddling, LMMN!
ESPECIALLY THAT DAMN COOCH GRASS!
Anyway this may be super easy for some, but difficult for others.
A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.
See why it could be really easy for some?

Jesus :tongue.gif:
Nope.
Nope.
Nope.
Nope.
Also, it's not a one-of-a-kind type of thing. It's very common.

God, I'm way off.
That's a pretty awesomely worded riddle by the way.
Nope.
Nope... but yep. It's Grass.
