Why wouldn't you? Respect your country, it's not a contract to sell your soul, it's the pledge of allegiance. You know, you are saying you are in allegiance with your country?
Since when does memorizing empty words by rote equate respect for my country? Furthermore, why do I have to respect my country?
I agree with smash. Just because you live somewhere, doesn't mean you have to like, or respect it.
Exactly what I was going to say, might as well pack up your stuff right now and leave. Seriously guys, you really need to learn what our country went through to get to where it is now. If it wasn't for the friken country you live in you might not be in school, so cut the crap.
+1,375,512 diamonds for you my friend.
That was beautiful

Some people use thought as an escape from contributing in life.
No one in my school says it. We all just stand while someone over the intercom says it. It's not that we aren't proud of our country, it's that we don't enjoy being mindless zombies who think that nothing is wrong with the country despite all of the wars and economy and that sort of stuff.
'Murica!

No Im not very proud of my country look at how much we "help" around the world look at Vietnam killing children and **** we have done some good but we have done a lot of bad too. And im not saying some "America is the best" crap that is the pledge of allegiance.Im not saying im totally loyal to America I wish to be loyal to the whoever the hell I want not because our teachers told us to be loyal to one country.

Some people have no other choice. Canada did all of that, but we don't need to worship the government. We respect by voting, and getting involved with the government. (We also don't yell at people if they don't.)

We don't worship our government and we do not get yelled at for not voting. The only thing close to that is not turning in your census, and that is completely necessary.

But you are yelled at for not saying an empty pledge.
I don't know, But I am extremely loyal to america besides the fact our government acts shady at times.
Anyway, I would gladly draft myself and fight an empty war, to the death if I was needed for my country,
Would you draft you self in Vietnam where thousands of Americans (and innocents) were killed because america cant keep it nose out of everyone's ****ing business? Would you kill children because america told you to?
I leave out "Under god" and "Indivisible" because I'm an atheist who thinks that this country is made up of individuals and can't be considered a collective group. I respect what this country offers, but it has been drifting away from its original idea since the get-go. I don't know if it'll be the same country when I have the choice to leave, in all honesty it'll probably be worse than it is now. Either way, I plan on moving when I have the chance, seeing the world and then finding a place where I want to stay.
I only did until I realized it wasn't against any rules not to and that they couldnt make me. THen I just leaned back in my chair and air gutaired famous rock solos.
TBH the 'under god' bit always bothered me in a pledge to a country that supposedly has seperation of church and state. Then when I started to grow up I started learning about the stupid illegal bull **** our government does, and well no more pledge.

What do you mean "no other country acts like us?"
I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people here that would disrespect me for disrespecting america.
I'm not planning on moving any time soon, since I have no money for it and I am too young.
NATIONALISM!
That's just being black and white about it.
Canada? It's called "Open borders" and "Diversity"
Also see: Respect
Reminded me of this song:
Once in a while I'll say "Russia" a few times during the pledge though. Yes, I'm an American but I'm loyal to the Soviet Union.

Now, I don't mean to sound rude, but I kind of expected the U.S. and Mexico border to go last...
