I kinda figured it out...
If you follow sentence 1, then both are false, because the second argument says the first is true, and since it is false, then both 1 and 2 are false.
If you follow sentence 2, then both are false because the first argument say the latter is false, and if it is false, then both 2 and 1 are false.
