It was said that Sarah Palin was making indirect and threatening remarks towards said congresspersons based on this map. The map itself is dotted with actual crosshairs, though it is not sure if the design was completely intentional.
Needless to say since this map was recently taken off the official source due to a recent murder of a Congresswoman, little girl, and a number of injured people, it's easy to think that someone took Palin's map entirely seriously.
Ultra-conservatives have been using threats of violence for a while now. This is one of the pitfalls of the two party system and the increasing polarization of the two. Both parties have the mentality of "If you're not with us, you're with THEM", "them" clearly being completely wrong about everything. Extending your hand across the isle is practically political suicide.
There have already been three assassination attempts on Democrats since the New Year.
It's really intimidating to think that American politics is so violent. I know there have been pretty violent shows of disapproval in the past, but this is downright evil.
ITT: We all over react to a map that was in no way intended to have violent connotations, but we're going to pretend it does because we don't like who made it.

You're kidding right? Your head is in a hole if you honestly believe politcians who use slogans like "Reload!" and openly talk about using bullets to get their way have only innocent intentions.

Political assassination has been a part of every country's major history since most of them came to be.

It makes much more sense that they are actually talking about shooting people and WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THIS FOR SOME REASON.
Oi.
So you didn't get that she was asking them to knock them off then?
President Obama is responsible for hundreds of thousands of useless murders, the imprisonment of thousands of innocent drug dealers and the export of thousands of innocent travelers.....how could anyone support him and even award him the PEACE Prize?

No I'm not kidding. I just don't read too much into the things people I disagree with politically do just so I can conjure up some insane theory filled with holes. Sarah Palin might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but she sure isn't stupid, and she also wouldn't publically advocate murder. It would be the end of her political career.
What the Hell is wrong with you people?!?
She was trying to make a political statement.
She's a politician.
Yes, it's quite possible that this is partly to blame for the shooting...
...but it's not as if she hired an assassin and handed them the map.
The person who shot the congresswoman was a liberal who didn't like what they did with health-care, and thought it wasn't enough. Case closed.
This reminds me of that time a fire department stood around and refused to put out a fire, and the liberal media claimed it was a "libertarian" disaster. Some people try to blame who they don't like and don't care about facts.

Come on man, have some common sense. Even Palin (or her PAC) isn't ****tarted enough to make a huge-ass map marked MURDER ALL THESE PEOPLE and send it all over the country. That map doesn't advocate murder because that would be the single most stupid move in the history of assassinations. Think of it this way: if I wanted to kill a man, would I write a letter to the police saying "dear officer, I wish to announce that I plan a murder. Sincerely yours, my name, adress, PS bring handcuffs?" No, I wouldn't, because I am smarter than the average brick.
Don't be so sure man.
I would have replied earlier but I haven't been near a computer since last night, been busy.
What you would have done is sort of a moot point, you are not Palin; therefore you do not know how she thinks.
Remember that politicians and celebrities have tons of lawyers, know tons of ways around the law, and oftentimes get other people to do things for them. What I don't get about a lot of America's politicians are so busy trying to knock each other over they fail to notice the serious problems in the country and impending war with America or it's allies.

I don't. I use something called common sense to guess what she would do. It works amazingly well.

So why the map?
Politicians sometimes lack this thing you call "common sense."
As I stated earlier, it wouldn't be hard to use said map as a tracking tool.

Hard to say who's going to die next.
That is the anthem, the slogan, the summary of events
Not all these threats are so indirect, if that map can be called indirect, either:

I can play too.
