I once saw this thread about a furry videogame, and it seemed like it had a really cool combat system. I posted this:
"Why does a game with a cool-sounding system have to be about a topic I can't stand?"
Next thing I know, this guy who's into furry gets all on my case. The following transpired.
Furry: "The history of my country and many other Celtic countries relied on anthropomorphic animals as their gods, not to mention the Egyptians and Aztecs...They've been around longer than you think."
PF:"And this matters why?"
Otherguy: "Because you act like it's something new, that hasn't been around for thousands of years in near enough every single culture around the world.
There's nothing to hate; only depending on what genre they're in.
Seriously, your hate seems unneeded towards everything. I don't go around hating Christianity because they try to shove it down your throat when you're a child here."
PF: "I made no mention of it being new or old, and the age doesn't matter to me at all. Why can't I just say I don't like something and be done with it? Right now, you seem to be the one trying to shove things down people's throats."
(Then that post was missed because it was the last one on the page, so I posted again.)
PF: "So according to Furry I'm not allowed to dislike anthros because they are old and I was somehow saying they are new?"
Furry: "Nah, I just mean to not define them all into one category. Seeing as how you like aliens, they come under the 'anthropomorphic' category. Not all have to be animals."
PF: "First, not all are humanoid, in fact it is fare more likely they wouldn't resemble us at all. Second, I was under the impression we were discussing anthropomorphic animals. Third, that is definitely not what you were saying before."
Furry: "Well, if they walk and move like a human but aren't human, then they are anthropomorphic (even the film Cars comes under anthro). But yes indeed, I'm just saying your thought pattern when announcing you hate them has to be widened. And no, that's because I wasn't answering you directly at the time."
PF: "This is my last post unless you make some derrogatory comment about me, which I will probably respond to.
I never even used the word hate. You accuse me of hatting something, and I never expressed hate. Only dislike. We started out talking about furies(anthro-animals), and I said I dislike them. Now you tell me that I hate them and that I shouldn't because there are other anthropomorphic things in the world. Stop putting words in my mouth, thank you.
Now, you also say that my "patterns of thought when announcing hate" need to be widened. Why does this matter? Can't I like or dislike something specific. You might not like vanilla, but that doesn't mean you have to dislike ice cream in general as well. I have a right to not like something, why can't you respect that? All I wanted to do was say that I was a little disappointed that a game with an interesting system was about a particular subject I dislike, and you try to portray me as a hateful idiot. What did I do to you?"
Furry: "Foster; I wasn't spiting hate at you, but more generalising over the typical population that splurt out such phrases as 'furfag' and responding to the person who asked why people hate anthros so much. The problem is you said it was a particular subject you disliked, which meant you disliked everything about anthropomorphism. It was explained already the game isn't a furry game.
It started long before. I don't intend to portray you as hateful, nor do I hate you."
What the heck is up with this guy? Are all furries so illogical?

No, we just have our crazies like any other group. *Glares at Otherkins*
I have seen furry art, some is good, some is not (some is just plain creepy). It all depends on personal preference.
(btw, spiney, your avatar looks familiar, where is it from?)

After 10:30 PST, my IQ drops to around that of a shovel, please disregard anything I say after aforementioned time, it will likely not make any sense, and is best ignored.
I know some furries that go to my school that have cat ears sown onto the hoods of their coats. Needless to say, they get a lot of **** for it.
I suppose you could justify it somehow.
But at the same time, common sense dictates they were asking for it.
So yeah. I'm not going to defend them. The cat tails and ears are stupid as hell. They knew it would attract attention. So buck up or don't wear it all. To me, that **** is on the same level as all the "gangster" wannabe's who traverse my hometown.
Makes you look like an idiot.
I am. I've been "denying" it for a while, then I decided that being considered one doesn't really have to be your permanent rank or something. I find the universe and fandom of furries really interesting, and is more of an interest and not a fetish. (but face it, anything with even the vauge shapes of...certain parts on certain places can probably..."stir up emotions" in a ton of people, be it furry or not) I don't find anything wrong with liking the style (even if a lot), but when people start considering animals better than humans or whatever, then they just start to be stupid.
Oh, and fursuits really creep me out. I mean REALLY. it just looks wrong.

His(her?) avatar is an extra from Las Lindas, a furry webcomic by Chalo. I can't link it because it is quite inappropriate for the young ones that haven't been exposed to sex yet.
@ninjapope
Ive never herd of it, I must have it confused with something else.
Thanks for telling me. (and another thanks for not linking that, it would have ended badly)

-I heard about it from friends who are furries
-They are all over the forum (furry avatar radar goes nuts)
-There are like 100389363 furry skins available
-EncyclopediaDramatica says that half of its players are furries (though they use a different word)
-^ this wouldn't be important as nobody cares about ED but they really are on to something with this
Most of the trouble we get is from ignorance, arrogance or misunderstandings.
Truthfully, it's not a fetish, but for some it is. We're not all sexually assertive, but some are. And we don't all go around in fur-suits, but some do.
There's lots of different furries, some are just artists, some are writers, some are just fans... and a few are a little weird. People just think we're all into the yiff porn. Most aren't.
There really is no one way to describe being a "Furry". For me, it's the intrigue into anthropomorphic animals, and our "inner" furry. For others, it's different.
