Stealing itself is not negotiable; but God forgives. That's a bit different than a subjective morality.
Do you think God would see a mistake (in need of forgiveness) in stealing the plans and preventing many pointless deaths, but not see a mistake in honoring the commandments and allowing the attack to go uninterrupted? Are human lives really worth that little, that a simple act of theft outweighs them?
What does your intuition say?
And yeah, different from subjective morality on paper. I don't think many people (even christians) would see the 'biblically right' option as the right thing to do, to be honest.
That's a bit different than a subjective morality. But I will agree on this point - Christianity is a tradition, and the texts and works are likely to be misinterpreted outside of the community which produced them.
Indeed. And in my humble opinion, a collection of books is a lousy and unreliable way to communicate eternal divine law to the masses. God should hire me as a marketing agent, I'd get his message out there far more effectively (global telepathy, for example).
Are you familiar with the 'Numinous'? That is to say, the sense of complete 'otherness' which the word 'holy' contains and was at one time applied to things which the modern man might think of as simply 'dread'.
Heard the term, but not too familiar with it.
I have some theologians on my reading list, so I'll probably run into it a few times.
May have already been said, but as a wise man once said "Religion is just a fancy way of saying you're afraid of death". What wise man said that? No damn clue...but I like the quote.

Not in mine. Death is seen as something good that you strive to earn from the world. To forcibly take it (Suicide) or to have it forced upon you (Murder) are seen as bad deaths. Hell, suicide is seen as a unworthy and disgraceful death.

It's not what the religion tells you. what it means, or how I see it, people were afraid of death, so some people told them that death was good, reassuring them, and taking advantage of situation to control people.

Ah, you mean like that. Well, my religion is not just a religion. It's more of a culture. It's complicated to explain since I have never seen any other example of this anywhere else.

Doesn't that imply atheists are automatically not afraid of death?
I call ********.
No, I'm atheist and I'm horrified of death. All it's saying is that it's a fancy way of saying you are, it doesn't mean that if you're not religious you're not afraid to die.
wow ! When I see the comments I can say that - a lot of atheists out there. That is good actually ! You start to see the truth. I'm an atheist too !
Do you think there is one "God" that controls everything around the planet ? Ok let's say there is but what about other planets ? Do you think for each planet there is one God (I believe there can't be cuz of your "rules") or our "God" controls ALL of the planets in the UNIVERSE ! And that heaven and hell **** ... I don't know man . Just think of that. You can't NOT make a "sin". So you go to hell whatever you do! Soo this "hell" gotta be pretty crowded :biggrin.gif: I'm just saying that if you are normal realist who knows physics and math and everything else you can't believe it "God" and "Jesus" and those things. And I personally think that religion is pulling people backwards instead of forwards. I mean . So if you are religious you live your life just for death (just so you could go to heaven). And life has no reason , and it is only made so you could pray and go to heaven/hell , because you are not making any progress in life , you are not helping society and you only pray to "God". I think that you should live you life for your actual LIFE and not for the thing that is after it.It's like eating a candy just so you can trow away the package..... **** I decided to make a small letter to the God prayers and it turned out to be one of those boring 2- line texts ....well I really hope there is anyone out there to read this.
Your understanding of Christianity and what they are about is flawed, don't knock it till you try it.
50% atheist? I thought there were way less of us than that. I guess living in Texas'll do stuff to your brain.
It's an internet poll on a game forum , which means the results will be skewed toward a specific demographic: younger generation of males in countries with internet access. If soccer moms and old folks watching O'Reilly factor also played minecraft, the results would be very different. Not to mention countless indoctrinated people from the middle east.
Atheists only make up a tiny fraction of world population, but are over-represented on all game forums I've been to.

Edited my post to make it much more clear, it sounded weird to me the way I typed it.
I belive that is agnosticism.

I'm not afraid of death, but I'd rather keep living... life is good :smile.gif:

I made a new thread! It was on the first page and... we had to resurrect this one?
