I am aspiring game designer (I intend to be a level designer and/or environmental artist), and plan to be attending school next October at the Vancouver Film School here in Canada. Tuition is very expensive, and I have some of it covered, however I still have a long ways to go until I have everything I need.
I recently heard about a contest being held by the makers of "Cheetah Power Surge", an energy drink that doesn't have any caffeine in it. Firstly, I want to make this very clear: I am not trying to advertise this product here.
However, the contest revolves around creating your own original, 30-second TV spot for the product. I spent 2 months on my entry, of which you can view below.
The prizes for having your commercial place in the top 1st, 2nd, and 3rd spots are $25,000, $15,000, and $10,000, respectively. The majority of the criteria for judging the commercials are based around their actual design and originality, however there are "votes" that can be placed on each commercial submitted, and count for 15% of the total "criteria". If I were to place in any of those three spots, the winnings would go straight to my tuition, getting me a few steps closer to the kind of education I need to have a career doing what I love.
If you want to see some of the things I have done with regards to level design, see my two videos for a project that aimed to recreate the look and feel of Resident Evil: Rebirth (originally for the Gamecube) in Valve's Left 4 Dead.
Those are just to show that I am serious about my education, and that I'm not asking for something purely for monetary gain.
I will be honest with you; I would like you to vote my commercial with 5 stars - however that's not what I'm asking you to do. I want you to view my entry and vote for a rating of which you think it deserves. The contest started a few months ago, though the voting end date is October 31st I believe, which only leaves a scant few days for me to accrue any votes at all.
If you could head to the link below and vote for my commercial I would be very grateful. Also note that votes can be submitted once a day, giving me a total of three votes per person until October 31st. Votes don't assure me a win, but they do get my entry noticed by the judges - and that's what counts.
*Note: if this is against any rules, and needs to be taken down; I understand. I just know that the Minecraft community enjoys gaming as much as I do, and I hope that same community would like to see a potential game designer realize his dream. Thanks for reading!
Thanks to everyone that's voted for me so far! I appreciate all the kind words as well, it keeps my spirits up!
Remember, I believe you can vote once every 24 hours until the 31st, so please vote more than once if possible, and tell others you know about an awesome commercial that will help a future game designer realize his dream!
I'm back one last time before the contest end date of October 31st (today!).
If there are any of you out there that could spare a vote for me, I would be extremely grateful! Placing in the top 3 would net me a significant portion of my tuition for the Vancouver Film School.
All you need to do is head to the link below and vote for my contest entry to the right of the embedded video.
It's crunch time now, so please use a spare minute to head on over and place a vote for me, thanks!

The golf ball's bounce was a little strange, but it was a damned good animation.
You've got potential, if nothing else. Voted.
It does look strange, doesn't it? That specific animation actually lasted almost twice as long as you see it in the spot, but it needed to be sped up in order to fit within the time constraints of a 30-second commercial.
Couple that with my decision of shooting at 24fps instead of 30 for that "film look", and you end up with less frames than are ideal in order to convey the right sense of motion. What can I say? I took an artistic license!
Again, please spare a minute or two for a vote if you can, thank you all very much!
