I posted a video a bit back of me playing and showing the "void" that I had found at the end of the map.
I was told this is not a glitch. However I have been told that this is a "bug" that Notch knows about. So what is the difference between a "bug" and a "glitch"? If there is none, was I wrong to call the void a "glitch"?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to make everything symmetrical.
A bug is the common term used to describe an error, flaw, mistake, failure, or fault in a computer program or system that produces an incorrect or unexpected result, or causes it to behave in unintended ways.
A glitch is a short-lived fault in a system. It is often used to describe a transient fault that corrects itself, and is therefore difficult to troubleshoot.
There is a slight difference.

I was once mining out some iron, and the lava
fell in me.
But I lost 120 pounds in 4 seconds thanks to Lava!

I thought bugs were a constant thing, a fault in the programming, where a glitch is just an error in the process, and doesn't occur for others.
That is my thought though.
I'm probably wrong

This fourm is filled with twelve year olds and assholes.
yeah thats true, glitch is well something that occurs sometimes, and is usually fixed relatively quickly
bugs are usually something thats wrong in the code and data in the game.
but what about how people glitching in a game to their advantage. isnt that term used wheneither the programmers didnt think everything through in the game and the players found it?
theres a "glitch" and then theres "Glitching".
so whats "Glitching"?

and xilli usually doesnt talk much =/
She's like Jesus. She doesn't talk much, but when she does, you'd better damn well listen.
A bug tends to be more software/scripting error or anything more behind the scenes. A glitch is usually easier to replicate, and tends to be caused by unexpected inputs.
The void was originally a flaw in the adminium code, but Notch decided to keep it and make it a feature :3

Do not wallow do not stall
Time waits for none at all
Your allowance may crawl,
It may fly or even vanish
But none will seem more lavished
Than time lost to all.
I never thought there was a difference between them until I thought about it because of this topic. Here's my interpretation:
Bugs are things that put there accidentally by whoever created it. A glitch is something a person would stumble upon that's not supposed to happen when they are doing something.

In a world full of peaches my Johnny, don't ask for applesauce.
The difference between a glitch and a bug often amounts to the same difference between a Trekkie and a Trekker. The exclusive use of one or the other is often on scale with how elitist you want to be in front of others. Casual use of either term however can show that you are not a total self-righteous jerk. :oP
A glitch is I think best explained like, an irregular error where the coding doesn't do what it's set to do. Eg something completely not rendering or something to where there is coding to prevent or do something and it just for some unknown reason doesn't
A bug is a consistent hole in coding where there is no code to prevent/do something. For example in an online game where you could gain prospectively infinite experience easily, where that's not the intent of the game and it shouldn't be allowed, but you can consistently cause it to happen.

Maybe you are right. Guess I'd have to ask Notch to get a straight answer.

My humble LPs can be found here.
