Babies probably had trouble saying the full "mother" and therefore started with just "mah." Because the vocal skills of babies are still in development babies probably doubled up and said "mahmah," thus leading to "mama."

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king
I was playing Civ VI and in the little pop ups it would say "Russia established a trade deal with Aztec" (I'm playing the Aztec and hope to soon conquer Russia who's been all alone on their own continent). I always thought there was some mistake because calling the Aztec nation "Aztec" felt wrong, but then I realized that I never knew what the actual Aztec Civilization was called. You could call them the Aztec Empire, I guess, but just as people called the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics the Soviet Union or Russia, there must have been a short word that people used to refer to their nation.
I guess you could have called in Tenochtitlan since that was the capital, but I looked it up and it seems they may have called themselves the Ēxcān Tlahtōlōyān, or in English, the Triple Alliance in reference to the 'empire' being an alliance of a couple city states.

It's oddly easier to talk about personal and touchy things with people online than IRL, but they're still real, living people who see what you're saying. Does removing the face to face part of conversation really make talking that much easier?
It's so hard to wrap my head around that.
Personally I like talking to strangers better than family.
Why? Because they don't know me as well and I don't see them as often.
Which leads to uhh more polite people since you can't afford to be rudely casual on public places.

People can be generally very guarded irl, the world can be a scary place and you don't always know who you can trust. Open up to the wrong person and you can get very hurt, not to mention the repetitive amount of safety warnings from parents and guardians making an impression on our subconscious mind while we are grow up, which can make rl human interaction something to be automatically cautious of. There is also a lot of self conscious issues irl that aren't relevant online.
Whereas generally, on the internet, the impersonal/non-confronting aspect of talking to people is easing in a way. For starters, we don't have any of the physical-image related self-conscious issues to deal with online, and many other self conscious issues don't exist or aren't practical online either. And, as for the warnings of dangers we grow up in the real world to fear, sitting in your safe place, in front of your computer, isn't really a situation for those fears to be warranted. Don't get me wrong, there are untrustworthy and hurtful people online as well, like anywhere, but avoiding them or removing them from your life (in most cases) is usually as easy as pressing a button. Aside from all that, while online there is also the freedom to be someone other than yourself. RPing, for example, and all that sort of thing, is an escapism that has little of the pressures and responsibilities that rl relationships often apply.

Well, in real life the people you're talking to are people that know you and who you'll most likely interact with again. Thus, if you tell them personal things, it might come back to haunt you during those later interactions.
On the interwebs, you're pretty darn anonymous to other users and if you never want to see them again or something along those lines it's very easy.

I think the intertubes have too many American which sort of alienates the rest of the world.
You know how bizzare it is reading a western take on Asian events is on news sites?
P.S, Go talk to people you nerds, it's not hard. Just don't try to cover your pizza face or cover it up by saying you're an manimal thing.
Also does it look like I would even care to blackmail you if you talk about your personal day?
No? Why would other people too then?
It's as if the government cares what kind of baby socks you browse or weird "interest" you looked up on the intertubes.
Also unless you work in one place you really don't see the same people often, and if you do then eh maybe an awkward eye contact and you two go on your merry way.
And if they *are* someone you have contact with on a daily basis, try not to say something weird in the first place. Well don't try to say you're *serious* about having a dutch wife and that sort of stuff.
Technically say something ordinary, or if you're too lazy to make a new thread. 😜

Well, Why are hobos called hobos?!?!
How do you get "Mama" from "Mother"?

If you break math successfully then you're actually a genius.
And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
Poachers should be poached.

I think it'd be interesting seeing foreign takes on American news, though they'd probably miss all the important stuff.

Can Chewbacca even say Chewbacca? Shouldn’t his name be something like Rawwwraaraar?
