Fallout 3
Fallout 3 is probably one of the best games I have ever played. The Capital Wasteland is an interesting place to explore and I found that even though I have never been to D.C. I could recognize most of the landmarks. There are plenty of random encounters to have and the leveling system is challenging and rewarding. You're character probably won't be the best the first time you play through the game but the second time you should have a good idea of what you want to do with him or her this time. The gameplay is interesting and V.A.T.S really helps you in those tight situations where you just need a second to think and plan out your next move. AS for roleplaying, Fallout 3 doesn't leave much to the imagination. However, because of the in-depth introduction you receive once you begin the game you don't have much in the way of an original backstory but beyond that you are free to do almost anything you please in the Capital Wasteland. As for graphics, the game is pretty lacking but what do you expect from a game that's this old? There are very few invisible barriers so those aren't really a problem. Unlike Skyrim, most of the environments aren't just copy and paste but are all individual and feel real. All in all, I would give this game a 9.5/10
Fallout New Vegas
Fallout New Vegas is an interesting game to say the least. While Fallout 3 was mostly RPG with a little bit of FPS thrown in, Fallout New Vegas is almost the exact opposite. With the addition of new ammo types and a wider variety of weapons, Fallout New Vegas is better than Fallout 3 in some ways but worse in others. For instance, take the introduction. While Fallout 3's was long but very touching, Fallout New Vegas's was short and a lot less so. For instance, you chase after Benny for a good part of the game but I didn't really want to kill him that badly. Sure I wanted vengeance but not as badly as everyone implied I did. That and the severe lacking of quests. I almost never had anything to do except the main storyline or some goal I set for myself. For instance, I set a goal to single-handedly assassinate Caesar. I did. As for the engine, nothing has changed from Fallout 3. Nothing. The only thing that let's you know it's a different game is the fact that there is an orange haze over everything instead of green. However, like I said, in the combat area Fallout New Vegas beats 3 by a landslide, but in the questing 3 is the winner.
Thankfully, they are both great games and you can pick them up here with all DLC included for about $50. Which is the price of just the DLC for Fallout 3 alone so go for it!
Oh hey. Looks like you're reading my signature. That's nice. If you thought I was going to put something funny here, I'm not. I will however put a link to my suggestion about gold tools. I think it's fairly popular. It would be nice if it was added. Just click the link and look at it. Please? I'm desperate. http://www.minecraft...-arent-useless/
Both are amazing games in my opinion. However, I liked Fallout 3 more. It had great scenery and lots of places to explore. I felt like New Vegas was lacking both. But then again you are in a desert. What do you expect to see?

That was almost my exact train of thought. Fallout New Vegas was more FPS while Fallout 3 was more RPG. To me.
Ammo types was a thing back in the older Fallout games. Fallout NV was the superior RPG title.
I never played the older Fallout games. The isometric point of view was really the killer to me but I have read up on them and I may go back and get the games one day. As for New Vegas being the superior RPG title, I completely disagree with that. Of course, that's just my opinion but New Vegas does have a slightly more open-ended beginning but I think that Lonesome Road kind of ruined that.
I absolutely disagree with pretty much all of this.
I give this review a 9.8/10.
You absolutely disagree with all of this and yet you gave it a 9.8/10? Am I just missing a joke here, was that sarcasm, or did you mean to say agree? I'm very confused.

Both are excellent game but honestly I prefer New Vegas, it just had a better feel to it. Maybe that's just me.
I could definitely see someone liking New Vegas more. Personally, I'm kind of torn. The other ammo types, better combat, more enemies, and hardcore mode make me like New Vegas. However, the story, quests, characters and radio station make me like Fallout 3.

This is obviously not a review, but an opinionated observation on two games.
If this was a unbiased review, it would definitely say that New Vegas IS a better title. Only thing bad with it is that it is almost the same in combat, visuals, sounds, etc.

By saying that anything is better than another is becoming biased. For instance, if I say that E.T. the game was better than Skyrim that makes me biased. Is it in my opinion? No. Will everyone agree with that opinion? Possibly. But the thing with that is that even if everyone agrees then it doesn't necessarily make it a fact. Anyway, your opinion is that Fallout New Vegas is a better game. I enjoyed Fallout New Vegas quite a lot. I enjoyed Fallout 3 quite a lot. However, I think that both of them are good in different areas. Whereas, to me, Fallout 3 had a MUCH better storyline, Fallout New Vegas had MUCH better combat. The music in Fallout 3 is better in my opinion though. However, as I stated before, this is just my opinion as with all reviews.

I'm not sure why people think FO3 had a better atmosphere, it was all gray ruins and brown dirt. NV had a beautiful desert and the buildings actually had some color. Locations with friendly NPCs also actually felt like people lived there, in 3 they felt like places for NPCs to stand around in until they glitched through the floor. Of course NV had the advantage of building off 3 but still, 3 was pretty bland and boring in lots of places. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it but NV I couldn't put down. Maybe it's because of my love for FO1&2.
That may be so but to me those quests were harder to find and didn't link together as well as Fallout 3's did. How were they harder to find? Theyre all in major cities and outposts(which you could get directions for in game).
That was almost my exact train of thought. Fallout New Vegas was more FPS while Fallout 3 was more RPG. To me. But new vegas actually allowed role playing. You weren't locked into being daddys boy and forced into one of the stupidest choices in any game ever. New vegas allowed you to design your own personality and back story(outside of being a courier at any rate), while 3 didnt.

Id enjoy the earlier games if I could skip the enemy phase ala fire emblem awakening. Killing all the khans take forever.

Oh no, girdershade and lamplight are two perfectly realistic settlements.

You do have a point about the open-endedness of beginning but other than that, you could role-play better in Fallout 3 to me.

because green and gray and brown is like, sooooooo post-apocalyptic, maaaaaaaaaaan
In my opinion the green tint in Fallout 3 was annoying, everywhere you went it was just green and more green shades. Fortunately, a mod removed the god awful tint from the game.
I don't see why everyone hated the green tint so badly. It added the illusion that everything was irradiated and that there was no escaping it. The orange tint in Fallout New Vegas add the idea that it was the sun reflecting off of the sun baked earth.
