I'm not quite sure, but I think the first PC game I played (or at least the first that was very memorable, anyway) was a 1999 FPS/RTS hybrid release called Battlezone II: Combat Commander. One day we were looking through some stuff in the garage or something ( I can't really remember exactly what happened) and I found the case and disc for the game in a box. Apparently my dad had bought it some time ago, or, wait, maybe a friend had given it to him, or, well, I don't know how he got it, but it found it's way into the box. I guess I liked the cover art or something, so we put it in the computer and started it up. I just watched him play it, and it was awesome. I think I remember watching him go through the whole campaign and everything (not in one sitting), but at some point I played the game as well. Though, I enjoyed watching him play it more than I enjoyed playing it myself, mostly because I was scared to play some of the levels (I was really young at the time). In fact, I remember skipping the into scene as fast as I could by pressing the spacebar because I was scared by the Activision and Pandemic logo sequences...ah, the memories .
Anyway, when I did play the game (and, I guess, when I watched it, too), I was amazed and immersed by the ships, the combat, the sounds (I especially recall the "Offensive. Unit. Lost." sound ), building your base and assembling an army of units, defending that base from the enemies, attacking the enemy base, going on different missions/skirmishes, being blown up by enemies (especially those darn spires ), being ejected from my blown up ship (and either walking back to base, calling over a friendly unit that I could borrow the ship of, sniping out one of the enemy units and using their ships, or just dying ), the awesome storyline (which many games these days seem to lack ), listening to the accounts of John Cooke while the missions were loading, exploring the strange planets, and the overall mysterious feel it had to it (although this was the part that scared me...).
If you couldn't tell, this game means a lot to me.
Here's the intro for it (yes, the one that scared me ):
Also, here's some gameplay footage:
Too bad there's not going to be a Battlezone III (though I did come across this thing on Kickstarter that was inspired by the original Battlezone [no, not the game for the Atari; the game that BZII is a sequel to], though I'm not sure if they're still working on it, or, if they are, how much progress has been done on it. It's called BIONITE: Origins ( http://www.kickstart...bionite-origins)
Edit: Ok, I've looked into it more, and apparently BIONITE: Origins is going to be released on Steam (and...on IOS too? ) in December of 2013 (and actually at the moment, they've released their final alpha version). So, that being said...I AM FREAKING EXCITED! I definitely know what I'll be wanting for Christmas this year .

I usually have a neutral/undecided standpoint on things. And yes, I am part Swiss.
I forget, I believe it was a Putt-Putt game back in 03' to 04' on my old DELL. It only played at 15 FPS but I really didn't care. I loved that damn little purple car.
We did have an old Commodore 64 lying around in my attic, I think my first game on that was Superman 64. (Not Nintendo 64 Superman, Commodore 64 Superman. The game was horrible)
The first games I played were probably on the Apple Macintosh computers we had in middle school. Some side-scrolling educational games and the Paws typing game.
I don't remember the absolute first, but some of the firsts were NASCAR Racing 2, SimCity 2000, Sierra Pro-Pilot, Soda Off-Road Racing, The Sims (the original and all the expansions). Mostly mid-to-late 1990s.
Possibly there is a deeper reason why your previous account was named "Tormented". You have demons, my friend. I can help you with that, if you'd like... but you must understand that I'm here to help you. I can not help you when you attack me as so. Demons or not, I'm not into the whole "exorcism" game
Hmmm... let's see,I got the original Roller Coaster Tycoon around 2004 (and yes I was actually okay at the game at the age of 5,I just couldn't really make money good enough, but I was good at making Roller Coasters at a young age),but I think I've been playing Zoo Tycoon (which in my eyes was really easy, taking care of animals and such) a year before that.
But then I remember playing Grand Theft Auto 2 before Zoo Tycoon, which I had no idea how to do anything but walk around, punch, and drive cars.
So really, the first computer game I played was Grand Theft Auto 2,but the first game that I understood how to play almost completely was Zoo Tycoon.
OT: Doom II. I probably shouldn't have played that when I was that age, but my uncle let me play it on his computer.
