I feel as though 'retro' can't even be a term to describe graphics such as 8-bit, and well those lower kinds, when did they even ever end? In my eyes as far as I'm concerned they can't even be called 'retro' graphics. These graphics have been seen in games for consoles and computers since they were first introduced, and have never stopped. All major consoles have had at least one game with this style of graphics (well most anyways) and lots of popular games for computers have this style of 'retro' graphics.
I'd like to hear other peoples' opinions on this matter. Are 'retro' graphics even 'retro'?
Well, it was the original thing ways looked. I'm sure antique furniture has been used since it first came out and it's still used present day, yet we still call it antique.

Well I suppose that is a good point. I do realize now that the title 'retro' has nothing to do with the popularity per se, but I guess my definition of modern is a little more broad in terms of video games, as in a lot of cases games with low pixel graphics are ranked higher than those games with 'modern' graphics. Though I suppose my definition of modern is also based on popularity, and not necessarily just the new-ness of something.
At this point, I'd say even PS1 graphics could be considered retro. Retro is really anything old. It doesn't really mean it ended. For instance, Hotline Miami is a retro game made in modern times. Modernity has nothing to do with popularity, though.

You took everything I was going to say in my post. (Even Hotline Miami as an example) Consider? I think not...
OT:I think that it really can be anything but it needs to have the vibe that a lot of older games have. I love retro styled games, very appealing.

Am I missing any "types" of graphics?

3D could be split into "true" 3D (Oculus Rift and such) and anaglyph 3D (3D glasses or virtual boy).
But "retro graphics" did fade out in a sense. I can't think of a single triple A title off the top of my head that has retro graphics. It's not a "mainstream" thing anymore, and it's largely popular in the indie community. You probably won't see a game with retro graphics that gets insanely huge sales. There are some moderately popular indie games with retro graphics, but they'll never outsell something like Battlefield or Call of Duty. 8-bit graphics aren't dead, but they're also far from the spotlight anymore.

Yeah. They still sell relatively well but they aren't massive hits.

Yes, but a game can be retro without having retro graphics. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is the perfect example of that.

There we go. Fit those in the list. Anyone have a problem with that list?
