Welcome to the Animal Crossing discussion. Here you may talk about any of the glorious games and the elements inside of them.
One of my favorite things of Animal Crossing is just the comfort one feels while playing the game. My favorite game is Animal Crossing: City Folk. Playing it gives me an unfamiliar nostalgia, but I love it. One flaw I find in this game is the grass. I do not think it was necessary for the developers to make it so that if you run across the grass too much, it starts to disappear.
My favorite character of Animal Crossing is Filbert.
Yes, he wears a feminine outfit, but he was one of my favorite characters. The day he moved out was a legitimate heart wrenching moment. I accidentally deleted his last letter he sent me, which was equally sad.
I had played this game throughout my childhood. There was just so much to do! An almost infinite cast of characters, certain events that only happened under certain conditions, it was awesome!
Oh so so so sooooooooo many hours spent on this game. Animal Crossing (and for a short time Harvest moon) were the only games I wanted for the Gamecube and so my first game was Animal Crossing. I enjoyed the Ds version but I think my all time favorite is the Wii version just because it feels like the gamecube plus so much more. My all time favorite character would probably have to be either Kiki or Tortimer. I remember when I got the golden shovel and fishing rod after paying off all of my house. Nook was kind enough to build a gold statue of me, haha. Does anyone remember where you could connect your gameboy to the cube and sail to that tropical island? Coolest thing ever!

I remember this game. I played lots, for almost a year. Then our wii broke and we had to start in a new town. I was one bug away from that golden net :/
But seriously, so many good memories had and so many good memories to come with these Animal Crossing games. They never seem to go wrong. Getting on an animal crossing forums and organizing meetings. You'd be surprised that despite people online being so different or just plain strangers, they can be really cool people. Animal Crossing can have that effect. Animal Crossing is my childhood and all the games so far haven't been short of just plain good times. I certainly cannot wait for the release of Animal Crossing New Leaf.
But... grass decay from City Folk has made a comeback, reportedly. It's apparently not as bad, though, as the "garden shop" (as I've heard it called) sells grass seeds which can be used to quickly regrow grass.
Oh yes! As long as that's confirmed, I am very pleased.

Grass decay itself isnt a bad idea, it was just horrendously implemented in City Folk, being unreasonably hard to grow back, and way too easy to loose. From what I've heard it takes much longer for it to decay and its easier to grow it back, so hopefully it wont be nearly as annoying.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is to be the newest installment in the Animal Crossing series. Slated for release in Q1 2013 in North America, New Leaf brings back what we loved in the previous iterations and adds much more, to boot. To my knowledge, the game will only be released for the Nintendo 3DS.
The most significant new feature is the ability of the player to be named mayor of his host town and see to its development however he sees fit. I am led to believe that this duty entails the ability to personally order outdoor constructions like bridges, lights, and benches. As mayor, you will have a secretary, a single character (fixed across all towns and games) who will presumably aid you in your endeavors.
You will be able to build up your house, as is customary in the series. You will be able to place items on walls - something that has not been present in any previous Animal Crossing game. You will be able to swim at the beach, and probably in lakes as well. K.K. Slider makes a return as a disk jockey (a questionable, but interesting direction), and he will perform onstage as he has in the past.

Figures.
The Nintendo DS re-make was fun as well!

PlanetSide 2 Megathread because why not?

Either way, I might get a Wii U just so I can play that version when it comes out.

I look forward to its release.
