I have one question and I'll try to make it quick.
Could my computer run Battlefield 3 (on any settings) with these specs:
Intel i7 3rd Generation 2.30 ghz
8GB of RAM
and (cringe) Intel HD Graphics 4000.
I don't know what your FPS is, I just know that your computer is not going to run it very well on most (if not, all) settings. Your integrated card ruined it.
It will run but not very good. your laptop will probably get blue screened and shut off due to overheat. wouldn't try it. plus your graphics are intergrated. Not powerful.

short answer: if you stick to lower resolutions (1280x720) and low-ish settings, you may find it playable.
Oh, and the systemrequirementslab site is a joke - it works exclusively off the min spec given by the game vendor - if the game vendor doesn't explicitly mention Intel graphics, the "can you run it" site says Intel graphics won't work. A quick search of reviews on reputable sites such as Anandtech and Techreport + youtube shows that Intel HD 4000 handles most games just fine at moderate settings/resolutions and older games even at high resolutions/settings.

we're assuming he wanted to max out the game, he didn't say anything different.
OP make sure you put that thing on a table or something, HP has **** cooling.

Well it can run Tribes Ascent on Full resolution and Highest graphics settings without too much effort.
Thanks for the tip but I did mention that I did not care what graphics settings it was on.
Much appreciated! Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for the link.
