I've never played a previous Halo game nor do I know the story or anything. But I've heard it's a fun and addicting game. Would it be alright if someone like me who has no idea how to play it?
i think you should i had no idea of what halo was about or if it was fun or not i sort of rejected it at first but then i warmed up to it and it is AWSOME no wonder its xboxes flagship game though halo 4 is not being made by bungie everything up to reach is made by bungie but halo 4 looks really good see the ign review for it when its out and then decide (P,S) halo 3 was my first halo game so get that if you want a good campaign and a good multiplayer you might wanna get halo reach though its the most recent halo game
I would buy it, even though the best halo's were 1,2 and 3 I think this will still be good. It looks like they're taking out all of the hated features of reach, and they're continuing the story line from 1, 2 and 3 so that should be fun.
If you can get your hands on any of the first 3 I recommend it highly. Some of my best days on xbox live were spent on Halo 2.
i would recommend playing the other titles first, whether chronologically by release [combat evolved, 2, 3, ODST, reach] or by timeline [reach, CE, 2, ODST, 3] is your choice
it's like reading a book series, except your starting with the latest book, where the plot and characters have already been long established.
right now i'm playing through assassins creed, i'm stuck on the final battle in the first one, but i'm not letting myself go onto AC2 till i finish it.
I'd recommend getting the first 3 first. CE was recently remade for the 360 with far better graphics, 2 is available on PC and and 3 is still available for 360 (it's fairly old so it should be pretty cheap). If you like the games then you'll probably like ODST and Reach, but the main 3 are better.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
Definitely play through 1, 2, and 3 first. But as for Reach and ODST, you could toss those out without missing a thing. Reach has really good multiplayer, but a mediocre campaign at best. In my opinion, ODST was the videogame equivalent of going for a fourth date with your girlfriend and you find out the she has a HUGE wang. I would stay away from that one.
Once you play 1, 2, and 3, totally get 4. Its lookin' pretty awesome so far.

why do people always hate on reach and ODST? granted, i felt the same way about ODST, but then i actually played it.
I actually hated the multiplayer for Halo Reach and thought the campaign was OK, either way Halo Reach ruined the Halo series for me and I don't plan on buying another Halo ever again. I thought that maybe Halo 4 would turn out decent but from what I have seen so far I have no hope, gameplay just looks like Halo Reach and I just can't stand the entire look of the game aesthetic wise, it just looks like Crysis or something, then they went and removed one of my favorite game modes (Firefight) and replaced it with a new one, spartan ops, sounds like spec ops mode from Cod, not impressed at all.
Halo 4 is going to be nothing like Halo: Reach
Besides, I'm sure that they'll put in a firefight like mode do to the many complains.

Or if you want to try the fps that started it all
