I know what most of you are thinking. "CAMPERS? LOL, THEY'RE JUST PUSSIES WHO HIDE IN THE SHADE ALL DAY AND WASTE TIME. THEY HAVE NO SKILL WHATSOEVER BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ANY RISKS BEING TAKEN." It's time to shut you up.
Campers are everywhere, man: in call of duty, battlefield, assaultcube, gears of war, WHATEVER. You will encounter many in any multiplayer FPS game.
So I'm playing assaultcube, a crappy fast-paced FPS game made for low-end computers with shitty internets. Maps on AC are normally small because of the player cap of 20. Anyways, I'm playing on a small map on a multiplayer mode called "Team One Shot One Kill." This means all players are handed a slow firing sniper rifle with no crosshair, except for a scope. All players are divided into two teams. If you shoot someone, he or she is dead. The team who kills the other team's players is the winner. Another round comes and the whole thing repeats until the set time is 0. Mostly, the winner of the whole game is based on the team with the most kills and least deaths.
Ok got that out of the way. ANYWAYS, I'm camping. I like camping. Camping is fun. My username is CAMPER. I like it better than running out in the open like a complete moron. So Mr. Immigrant who doesn't know how to speak English correctly goes "CAMPER U NOOB JAJAJAJA KKKK" and decides to make a vote to kick me.
Now sometimes, I'm in first place. Other times, I play like crap, but my strategy is pretty much the same all the time. So mostly everyone votes YEA and I get booted. Since AC is a poorly designed game, I'm back into the server instantly. I explain to them why (in my opinion at least) camping is just a strategy just like running into the open like a moron, which the majority of AC's players do. They're butthurt, I'm butthurt they still kick me, EVERYONE'S BUTTHURT.
So here you have the argument "If everyone was a camper, then the round wouldn't end." True, to an extent. Good campers don't stay in one spot, but instead stay in one area for a determined amount of time, and if nothing is popping up they will be extra careful and move to another spot and restart the cycle.
TL:DR. If you feel like my story is just a wall of text here is the question: Are these kids right in kicking/whining about campers? Is camping a strategy or is it unfair? Please, oh please, if you're going to respond, MAKE IT AN INTELLIGENT RESPONSE.
Depends how long they camp, if it is over 3 minutes, then GTFO. Strategy is not involved in Call of Duty anyways...
EDIT: I noticed you jotted down battlefield... quite frankly you can just destroy the wall they are hiding behind last I checked.
I have to say, that's how they play and have fun. It's their way of playing and we should just take into knowledge that the game doesn't care, and it is a strategy. So, all of you haters, just deal with it. We've all camped and WE KNOW IT. Tbh, I camp and rush, whatever I feel is necessary.

Camping is a legitimate strategy. And I'm serious about that. If someone is camping a location than take an alternate route. If there is none then the game has poor level design. The only reason I don't take part in this activity is because I get bored very quickly just sitting on my ass waiting for someone. I didn't play a FPS to sit in a corner.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, an opinion cant be awful. Its an opinion. Its your opinion that his opinion is awful.

People generally ***** about camping when they're getting beat consistently. Personally, I love playing against campers because they're predictable, and easy to deal with.
I used to camp myself, but I became so much of a stat ***** that I just couldn't bare to see my points/minute drop. Learning to run around and develop a better reaction time will help you in the long run, but from what you described about the game mode, it would seem that camping would be preferable, since quick scoping isn't exactly a dependable way to get kills.

'Tis not contrary to reason to prefer the destruction of the whole world to the scratching of my finger.
Well, in real life, it is not illegal for Snipers to set up around an enemy compound and kill anyone they see. I disapprove of spawncamping, but area denial is fine. And if the object of the gamemode is to eliminate the enemy...

Intelligence is not one and the same with knowledge.

Destroying walls is fine, but it doesn't stop campers from sitting at the top of a hill for the whole match.
Anyways; the main reason why I don't like campers in a game-mode like the one you are talking about is the fact that your team has to sit there and wait for the other team to find you. Campers make modes like SnD (CoD) almost unbearable.
It really depends on the game. People for the most part have no more right to ***** about "camping" then anything else in a game. It's definitely not always the most effective strategy, especially in the progressively faster paced FPS games being released today. For example, good luck winning an Instant Action match on Crysis 2 by standing in one place for more than a short period of time. It's possible but not nearly as likely as being aggressive and having a quick reflex in close range.
I generally don't care about campers. They are very easy to kill. One well placed grenade and they're dead. If people want to use a bad strategy, I just let them.
Edit: Wouldn't this maybe go in the other games section?

Yes which brings me to my response to them.
If they are complaining how long I take to kill someone, they shouldn't have died first.
