I don't think it'll 'dethrone' WoW - I don't think anything can challenge it from a commercial standpoint at this stage, the player-base is too massive and too well entrenched.
I do think that GW2 will be a much better game than WoW is or has ever been though (always been mediocre at best IMO...) and I'm really looking forward to it.
Normally MMOs don't do much for me, but it sounds like GW2 might provide a better experience. That said, I didn't like the first one very much.
I'll still probably pick this up, seeing as there's no sub fee, like the first one. I really hope the game is what they claim it will be. Plenty of MMOs have claimed to be changing things up from the formula in significant and interesting ways in the past, and it's pretty much always the same derivative crap. I really hope this'll be different.

Relax. Take a deep breath. Everything's not going to be O.K.
Check out my gaming blog, Zombie Arcade. Now with Minecraft videos!
lolwat i dont think that will work :tongue.gif: Asura will prolly stick to Casting classes.
Kirsch, no it does not. It's all about personal gameplay style and opinions. I couldn't care less for the graphics, but the engine adds functions that are interesting. I heard something about RTS elements in PvP I think..
GW Prophecies was the ultimate fun, if you got it on release. If you purchased it lately everything seems dead.
All races can play all professions. Races do NOT have statistical advantages over each other. An Asura isn't faster than a Charr statistically and a Norn isn't stronger than an Asura. This is GOOD news. This way people can play what they want to play without feeling guilty for taking the wrong race/profession.
"But what makes races unique?"
Racial skills. Races will have different skills unique to them. Most are weaker versions of profession skills. So it's like a replacement for secondary professions in a way. For example, as an Asuran Warrior, you can have a racial skill called Arcane Rune which is a generic magical blast. An example of an Elite Racial skill would be a Golem Battlesuit for the Asura, and calling out the Hounds of Balthazar for a Human. And there are the shapeshifting powers for a norn.

GENERATION 17: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment.
It can and never will best WoW, personally I am not a big fan of the game it just never really appealed to me as much as others did. It might be able to best WAR.

You come off as a person who knows nothing about Guild Wars 2. You may know about Guild Wars 1, but a lot of stuff from Guild Wars 1 doesn't apply to Guild Wars 2.

It looks pretty nice, it might actually be a MMORPG I want to play. The only thing that is ******** is that people who have played previous games can get exclusive items and ****. Thats pretty retarded.
Depending on how much you did, in terms of titles, in the original guildwars and you put them all into the Hall of Monuments (which comes with EotN) you will be given certain things in GW2. But they did a similar thing to this in GW1 (with collectors ed), and the items weren't that spectacular or game breaking in anyway, the minipets were quite rare and did sell for abit although the weapons were just something to help you when you were like lvl5 and weren't that great tbh... just free. Here's the gw2 reward calculator thing from the HoM, shows what items you get with certain things http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/
I've played Guild Wars for 3 years and it's surely the best MMO I've ever played and think of it to be an underated. I think this sequel may lose some of the elements that made GW1 so unique, and I'm afraid of it becoming more like WoW. Things like potions and open world(yes, I like instance world the best so I won't run into pathetic players - 90% of any game's player base) are the ones I'm more scared about. But I still think it'll be a very nice game. It probably won't be a "WoW-killer" though, manly because the name "Guild Wars" and "ArenaNet" aren't worth as much as "Warcraft" and "Activision-Blizzard". But better games gaining less profit than shitty games isn't a new thing, unfortunately.
Bah, I would be playing the first one, Guild Wars, however, the site I was on that had the link to the game had a broken link. Well, it did lead to the site for the game, but I could never actually find the game. If anyone has a direct link to the game itself, it would be much obliged.
Shoot, was thinking of another game... Well, Guild Wars is also on the site, but not the one that interested me... ah well, it appears that game I was talking about was deleted from the site... I assume the game actually ended altogether. Oh well, back to looking for a game to play. In case you want to know the site, it is http://play-free-online-games.com/.
Just got back into GW again. Did a UW run. Good times.

remove the zeroes and you get 21, get rid of the 9 and you have 1121 then add two more twos for luck and..
those are all the numbers needed to make 12/21/12.
