Hey, I'm starting this thread to share my thoughts and opinions of Pokemon: Omega Ruby and Pokemon: Alpha Sapphire.
First off! It looks really interesting, and I like the new designs of Brendan and May. I wonder if they will have the customizable trainers like they had with X and Y?
Anyways, that's all I have to say for now, but now I'm wondering how everyone else feels about the Hoenn remakes! So, leave your responses if you want, please!
I'm pretty sure customization is making a return. I bet it won't have an many options as in X and Y though. Take a look at May's bag in this prerelease screenshot:
It looks red and larger then what was shown in her character redesign and other screenshots.
I'm really looking forward to this. 3rd gen was by far my favorite generation. Ever since we got those mega Latias/Latios leaks I knew for sure this was coming. That and the fact that we have a mega stone for blaziken that's unobtainable in normal gameplay.
With mega sableye, I'm curious as to what other pokemon you want to see have a mega evolution. I'm hoping we might get a mega metagross. It would make sense if Steven Stone's signature pokemon could mega evolve. Then again, he might have a mega Aggron instead.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
I'm feeling hopeful about it, but I'm definitely wishing that they go the HG/SS route and drastically improve it without adding too many new things (making it seem like a completely new game).

You mean leave the worst aspect of it intact? HGSS shouldve addressed the severe underleveling that G/S had. If Gamefreak was smart(which theyre not), they would make it so you dont need the sheer amount of hms to traverse the world in the RS remakes. Id love it if hms were a passive thing that certain pokemon could do naturally or something. Instead, were going to need strength, surf, waterfall, dive, possibly even cut to advance through the game, which is annoying as only two of the hms are actually viable (waterfall and surf). At least rocksmash and flash might be demoted to tm again.

What underleveling do you refer to?the character needing to grind or the other trainers usually being weaker? I suspect whatever you are referring to may be why Firered has been so ridiculously easy, definitely easier than Red/Blue were in terms of leveling.

I'm not sure I Understand what you mean by "viable". It sounds like you are referring to pokemon for competitive play or something. For HMs they may as well just be possible to replace. the whole "HMs cannot be forgotten" thing doesn't really seem necessary.

The HM thing is really necessary if you ask me. You either have to burden your water type with 3 HMs or have a dedicated HM slave.
And only 1 of said HMs will be useful on your water type, as waterfall and surf have similar power with the difference being that waterfall is physical and surf special. And dive is just useless imo. Other useless HMs include cut, flash and rock smash. Strength and fly are decent.

As in lvl 20 swinubs are the best option to grind on for the level 40 gym. Pretty much everything in the wild was half the level you needed it to be. By viable I mean not having to have 3 water type moves on gyrados, with dive essentially being a 2 turn waterfall with no flinching, and surf running off of his much weaker sp attack(this was even worse in gen 3 when there was zero reason to run anything besides surf). It also pains me each time I have to teach altaria or flygon fly because I dont want to retread ground to buy certain items, visit my base, or gamble(which will probably be gone, knowing gamefreak...) While It most certainly is possible to beat the game with whatever, Id rather avoid sticking my pokemon with terrible moves, especially now that tms are multiuse and I can therefor give earthquake and return to everything if need be.

Did you not see my post? Or were you maybe confused when I said "The HM thing"? I was referring to your previous post where you said that Gamefreak should cut down on the amount of HMs in ruby and sapphire.
Because I didnt think anyone could seriously suggest that gimping your self intentionally by forcing you to use certain team mates and crap moves is a necessary part of an rpg.
As soon as I heard about this, I was thinking, "About time they're doing this..." I have Pokemon Sapphire, but the internal battery dried out, and ever since then, I haven't played the game. So once the remakes come out, I hope to get Alpha Sapphire and maybe one of my relatives Omega Ruby.
I don't like it that they changed the Brendan and May sprites. They would be good enough if they were the same as in the anime. Anyways, sounds good. I can not wait!
Hopefully they keep the difficulty the same as before, I found that the 5th gen games were designed for 5 years olds. Reasons why I hate the 5th gen games
Leveling was easy
My team always out leveled everything, Gyms Leaders, Team Plasma, Elite Four and the Champion
I always beat everything on the first attempt due to lack of challenge
They always handed you the needed Pokemon right before a gym battle to do well in it as opposed to having to think ahead and backtrack for the one you need.
Gym "puzzles" were straight forward and gave the allusion of actually solving a puzzle. They were really "walk from point a to point b and press the only button you can see"
Triple battles are interesting, but they were never fully taken advantage of
Rotation battles are just unnecessary
Routes were short, linear, and did not force you to do any puzzle solving, especially caves.
HM's were not needed in the game for the most part
The map was shaped like a donut, and you went in a semi circle without ever having to back, because the story followed with that circle. No exploring, boring!
Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald were the complete opposite of this. They were a challenge and you had to think. Exploring was key and you aren't going down a linear line. Trainers and wild Pokemon were weak, making training your Pokemon insanely time consuming and hard. Gym leaders, Magma/Aqua members, The Elite Four and the Champion were all insanely difficult to defeat. I always found myself severely under leveled when going into each fight because like I said, training takes forever and even after spending several hours for each fight they weren't easy! When I got to the victory road I struggled through that the entire way. Everything was out leveling my by 10 levels, even the wild Pokemon were on level with me! Only having one Pokemon that was incredibly effective against these types made it hard.Everything before that was also insanely weak so preparing was hard. When I got to the end of that fighting my rival was the most challenging battle of my life! There he was with 6 strong Pokemon that out leveled all of mine, meanwhile I had to dedicate a one of two HM slaves. When I finally beat him I got excited, I was on my way to beat the game. I prepared for the Elite Four like crazy after that. I spend maybe a week getting my Pokemon's levels up, but even then I only got my Pokemon to around level 35-40 (they ranged all the way up to lvl 58). I still won, but only with insane amounts of luck. Every other Pokemon game I was able to breeze right through, without any effort or serious training.
TL:DR there better be a "I have played Pokemon before so give me a challenge" option when I first set up the game and it better not be catered for 5 year old kids like the 5th gen games were (6th gen was slightly better)
I grew up with Pokemon Ruby, so I'm naturally excited for the remake. I hate the new design of Maxie though, looks like a complete nerd.
I hate the new design of Archie. Before, he looked cool. Now he just looks extremely stupid and over the top. I like the new design of May a lot, but I don't like the new Brendan as much. Also, is it just more, or is every trainer with every new generation getting taller, skinnier, and wearing tighter clothes?
also, I hope they make the colored cartridges, as well as make special edition 3ds XLs that have CARTRIDGE copies of the games, cause I hate the download-codes. I bought a Link Between Worlds 3DS XL off ebay brand new, but since I already had the game, I gave the code to my brother. It was already used.

Im still waiting on word about secret bases, AKA, THE BEST PART ABOUT POKEMON.

Whys that?
Eh, I kind of said why...

Well if he looks like a nerd, at least it fits his voice in the English dubbed anime.
Just one more block...
I wonder if there will be a Primal Rayquaza along with Primal Groudon and Kyogre?
Hi! I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear!
That said, I am buying Omega Ruby on day one.
That said...
And since FireRed and LeafGreen were in Gen 3...
KANTO REMAKE REMAKES CONFIRMED!!!!1!!
