Lolol, good one...
I mean that as in, you hardcore RPers, and those who have been in the section for longer than a year...
back when it was all done in Cuture, Media, and arts.
ALL are welcome, comrade Lugia! [/endRidiculousRussian-ness]
But seriously, you're fine posting in this thread if you are willing to improve and not be casual any more (*a group of monks in the background ominously chant "join us... join us... join us..." from somewhere unknown in the dark cave*)

We did not invent the Algorithm. The Algorithm consistently finds Jesus. The Algorithm killed Jeeves. The Algorithm is banned in China. The Algorithm is from Jersey. The Algorithm constantly finds Jesus. This is not the Algorithm. This is Close.
From what I can discern from your last posts there's a certain love for parenthesized statements. Though they're not grammatically incorrect or anything, they often come across to me as abrupt intrusive ways to comment on something or add something off-hand that could have been done more naturally. As an example for the moment:
Nikulainen was decidedly not a smoker (he found the flavour disgusting), but something told him that this was an appropriate moment to light a cigar.
This could have been a character issue saved for when he gets offered a cigarette or something and to have his disdain for the taste of cigarettes openly revealed through dialogue. Slipping in such an abrupt statement sort of broke the flow.
Another thing I can say from the posts I've poked at is that there's still a sort of a basis of the "name for a job" character thing going. I may not be reading much of your posts but certain figures seem to be largely names pulled so you have someone to refer to as a job, making kind of flattened characters with inconsequential traits added.
I'll admit that due to the length of the RP and my being in it/running (its entire life more-or-less) I do have many of those "floating names" that I've been trying to clean up over time. Whether just fading them out or flushing them out as characters. It's not bad to have them, but I'd certainly say the more prominent they are the more a character they deserve. Examples in this case being Yaqob Yohannes, Ras Hassan, Sotelo, Frederick, Hou (which I've been trying to develop more during the course of this iteration of virtue of him being one of the biggest names in the RP).
There are moments though where you do in fact need to make characters because there's an immediate situation to address and you don't want to submit to bland titles, these names I can give pass too since in my experience they tend to last about as long as the situation.
I.....................
probably shouldn't even be posting in here... after all, I don't really need to be known, right?
Worse, I'd probably only count as casual to you people. :/

Pretty much you get a job in mind that needs to be done. And instead of saying "The Captain" or refering to a guy by some generic term you give him a name such as, "Joe Larry".
So thus, it is no longer "The Captain" but now "Joe Larry" in charge of leading the charge against the fortified position, and it will be through Joe Larry that you explore the grit of this charge as opposed to writing: "And the Finns charged the Russian position with sticks". You now get to go into the details of it and boil things down to describing the smell, sound, and general emotion of the scene.
However, Joe Larry is still a crippling cardboard cut out without any attachment felt towards him.
Longer-term characters should have attempts made to have them dynamic or with included depth. Between charges the struggles within him should be explored as well as his hopes and fears. The story arc is then less about the Finnish people, but now about them AND the story of Joe Larry. Or it's about Joe Larry, and the story of the Finnish people is merely the vehicle on which he rides, giving him his inevitable goal or final obstacle he needs to confront.
In this essence, his story and the current faction-based story can be looked at in the context of the Hero's Wheel:
Generally the challenge with such special-fit heroes is that we get them in the middle of the "Adventure" part of their story and the backstory is bland and unexplored. In these cases though, you could always find a point to sit them down and explore his status quo and assistance stages to explore these areas, or drop enough clues the reader can fit them all together and get a rudimentary picture that will work until another time.
Still, cut-outs get the job done when most of them are going to vanish due to sudden temporal anomaly within the next dozen or two posts.

I've had characters like that myself. But there should still be a general number of characters built to remain, and these guys should be more explored.
Speaking of permanent characters, I need to elaborate on more. Right now Assanian is my only one.
I'm actually planning to use my flashback story arch to make Gregovyen (the dude at Artashat) a hero and make him the first Hero of the Armenian Republic.
I'm back. Again. I used to roleplay a whole lot here, then I came back. Then that RP died and I got disheartened. Now I'm back again! I'm sure a few of you remember me.

Likes:RPs that are roleplayed by individual characters. A firm storyline (though not a strictly adhered to storyline). At least 1 paragraph per post. I don't mind what style of RP, as long as it captures my interest within the first paragraph of description.
Dislikes: Sci-Fi. Anime. Roleplays based on games & other pop culture (unless it's spectacularly good and by somebody I know).
Activity Level: Medium I'd say. I post a couple of times a day, more on weekends. But if I don't have a roleplay I kinda wander off and forget about finding a new one, so message me if you think I'd be interested in yours.
Type: Probably hardcore, I am absolutely obsessed with my english composure, and I've been known to write posts that take a long time to read but I don't know what intermediate really is. I'd say hardcore from your description.
Thanks bro. Hopefully I can get back into doing it.

Why yes, I sure am single. But not really guys, you're not really my type. Except you Hugs, only because I sure do like hugging zombies though. Oooh yeah, that sure was a good zombie hug.

I actually don't know what I'd be counted as... but am embarrassed of most of my RP posts, as they're in pokémon-based Rps...
There is hope in all caterpillars.

Damn, you're right, they ARE annoying.
Also, what do you mean "name for a job"? My snobby Englishness has prevented me from understanding most figures of speech.
YAAAAAAAAY

FOR
DEMACIATHE FORUM ROLEPLAYING SECTION!Sometimes I wonder if it's all too easy.
Lying, cheating, stealing your way to victory.
Though just how far would you fall for a dream?

...but I must admit, Armenian names sound identical to their cities, so sometimes I forget which is which.
