Name: Prof. Darius M. Cuddy Gender: Male Appearance: Professor Darius Pridmore is a tall man with a slender build. His gaunt, slightly wrinkled face and grayed complexion pegs him in his late 50's to mid 60's, but the mess of brown and black hair and the vigor with which he carries himself disagrees. His poor posture and sallow chest betray his field, but his arms, legs, and midsection make a lukewarm attempt at toned.
His dress varies from time-to-time, but he wears dark, muted colors and the occasional measure of argyle in layers. He always wears cotton, wool, and cashmere of the highest quality. Personality: Darius is, to put it politely, brusque. He does not enjoy dealing with people and many spread rumors that the man is in fact a reclusive vampire. He is imbued with the unflappable nature that naturally comes with age, but he would much rather avoid his problems than face them. Age: 42 Bio: Professor Darius Mason Cuddy was born on the evening of May 14, 1971 to a Gregor Cuddy and Maria Pridmore. Scholar's blood already ran through his veins. "Mud Thing" was never popular in school, he disliked the children for their lack of wit almost as much as he did for excluding him from practically everything. By high school he was used to being a loner. It was disturbingly quiet. He wasn't even picked upon. By graduation, he had mastered avoiding people to the degree that in later high school reunions, he would have to introduce himself to most of the class.
College was better for Darius. He applied for a scholarship that landed him in Geology, where he met Professor Kaleson. The first person to root him out and show him off as the star pupil he was. Kaleson convinced Cuddy to go on expiditions, and Darius for once truly fell in love with the study. He went directly out of college into apprenticeship with the professor.
He made a breakthrough in seismology and published several papers in science journals before retiring to teach the next generation of prospective geologists. A simple truth had always been there in the back of his mind, and no matter how hard he applied himself to his subject, he could never escape it. His love of the earth beneath him could not replace the love of another person. One night while reviewing papers, the truth he had fought away so hard had finally come crashing down upon him in its entirety. Coma Reason: Pressure from what he would tell you is work became too much for him. He had a stroke at his desk and was found by a student in a comatose state. He was stabilized by campus paramedics, but for some reason they have been unable to wake him from his coma. Worst Fears: Darius, a rationalist, fears not the impenetrable dark, nor the creeping beast, nor the macabre curio which watches in the corner. His nightmare lies beyond the grasp of rationality. His fear is that his work will completely envelop him, and that he will spend the remainder of his life alone and die forgotten. It appears if he cannot face this fear, it will become a reality.
So I'll put in my intro post, but Darius is incapable of escaping his intro state without outside intervention. If nothing happens for a while, I'll remind people I exist.
Okay, so I really got into this intro post and its turned into a two-parter. I'm gonna post part one, then let it sit a while before I post part two. I swear I'll try not to write so long in normal posts.

Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day.

Hmm. I am just wondering, is it possible to wake up from our coma if we leave the roleplay or it dies? I do not plan on leaving but still, I am curious.
If the characters are in a coma, can they manipulate their coma dreams to a certain extent? Obviously not ridiculously overpowered/nonsensical things like "Jeb barfs out an antimatter cannon and blasts the bear, obliterating it", but other things like "Bobby begins to think about telepathy, and before he realizes it, he is slowly dragging a pen towards his hand".

Just asking.
If we were to vote, I would like to vote against this. Simply because becoming even slightly powerful ruins the atmosphere of the RP. This is helplessness and an internal struggle. You can't punch your vices away, or disintegrate your phobias. Maybe in a metaphorical sense, if your character arc requires it.

I understand. A possible workaround would be so that the characters' fears have improved versions of the character's power, or if the powers simply don't work against the fears, but as you said, this isn't a superman roleplay.
You seem more formal, nowadays.

Look at the first page. I did make his reserve.

No. Time in 'comaland' is much faster.
I prefer commaland, where everything pauses (albeit briefly).
Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
How clever.
