The Holy Roman Empire is available, the Kingdom of France is available, a couple Crusader States are open. Two Muslim emirettes are open. Certain Cuman tribes. Hungary, Romania, Naples...
History/Bio: After Hungary's failure in the Fifth Crusade, king Andrew II turned his attention to expanding its borders, conquering land and gaining money through conquest. All was not well, however, as it was during his reign that Dalmatia and Croatia successfully revolted, losing Hungary all of her Mediterranean coast. His successor, Béla IV, fought several wars to regain this land but ultimately failed, putting doubt of Hungary's military strength in the hearts of the populace and causing much of northern Hungary to rebel. Now it is 1225, the Hungarian army is stronger than ever before, and his people look to him to regain lost territory, expand the borders of his kingdom, and lead his kingdom on to victory and glory!
I got the writing style from the Civilization V introductions, when you choose a nation and the game's loading. And, to a lesser extent, the introduction to your country in Medieval II, Total War.
And yes, I do realize that Hungary has migrated south. If you read above, Andrew conquered a lot of territory, then during Béla's reign the north rebelled.
You're probably gonna have to write more than that for a history.
And then also hear about how if you're going to pick such a large territory, you better be committed.
(I will make a post once I get everything else out of the way and find time.)
true. I'll be pretty comitted (I'm playing several forum games and I make a point never to miss a day, on my favorite forum game I haven't missed a day for a month and a half), and I think that's probably enough history. It explains everything necessary.
It's a single paragraph though. We Precipers have a "two paragraph minimum" standard that I think even this RP requires. Go more in-depth, you can probably tell us way more than that.
Actually, I'll be Novgorod. It was sort of out of the way, not too big, had a fairly developed economy, a moderately large army, made plenty of money in the Baltic sea - Byzantine Empire trade. I'll go edit my application.
I actually agree that Hungary was probably a little too much for me, seeing as I'm sort of new to forum RP. (Done a lot of forum games, but my only RP so far has been Roman Colonization RP, which I run and has specified rules that would make it sort of unfair if I played, so I don't, I just run it).
I'm just not going to play... Maybe I should try something simpler, anyways, and in a little bit I'm going to finish the map and rules to my 1300 game/roleplay, and running that will be complicated enough to take up quite a bit of my time.

I think SO/REM or Absolution is the best place for new people to kind of ease into an intermediate or hardcore (especially SO/REM) stance.
I am guessing that the holy roman empire is already taken.......then would Scotland be available?
I don't think so. But your balls would be in the Pope's vise grip.
And of course, all the duchies within.
