This is a roleplay about living as a member of a hive structure, tending to your queen, and working for the hive. The way you play is simple, first, the players vote on a goal, the poll is basically the will of the queen and all work must either pertain to it or aid in general well being of the hive. As you work, there will be encounters and events pertaining to either your individual shullet, teamwork between you and fellow shullets, or protecting the hive. This roleplay is essentially both animal and civilization. But wait it gets better! Determining factors and work will let you specialize into different types of shullet! Meaning new experiences, skills, and general awesomeness! But not all things last forever as it is very likely to die, but not to worry! You will be born again but you will have to start anew.
What the heck is a shullet?
Shullets can be described as arthropodic amphibians. They have drill shaped shells (see image in history for clarification)(5 cm), a central eye(1 cm), four slender legs(1 cm) that end in long(5cm)spikes, in their compressed dormant state; they are 10 cm in length, when active, from shell to spike, they are 12cm. They live in a hive structure with a queen whom looks different. The hive is primarily underwater but due to the slow aqua-respiratory system of the shullet they can stay above water for an hour.

But there is one more:

Tasks
After pupation you will grow into a worker shullet, your contributions to the hive is your choice
(This is an NPC Task)Care taker: you work for the queen and the larvae directly, the job is basic, it involves the organization of eggs, feeding of larvae and the queen.
Scout: you are designed to explore as well as lead your brethren to places of value.
Hunter: at first you only hunt in a small designated area, preying on bottom feeders, with the assistance of a scout you can hunt other places.
Gatherer: your job is to assist hunters by breaking prey into smaller edible pieces, you also have the job of carrying workloads that the queen deems important. Such as treasures.
Messenger: you bring signals of responsibility from one shullet to another, your other job is to distribute food.
Defender: the title says it all, you are designed to fight off predators and attacking Shullets.
Warrior(late game recommended): your job is to attack other shullet hives and defend scouts or hunters in case of an emergency.( typically work in teams)
Structure: you have ability to work with other structure shullets to create things such as bridges and ladders to help on land.
Predators
Predators include medium to large mammals, catfish( and fish able to crush shells), other crustaceans, Sea stars*, Sea urchins*, Birds, Medium to large sized Reptiles, Amphibians, gastropods*, cephalopods, worms, and parasites
*these are dangers to the eggs and queen, as they are defenseless

This inspired the thought of a seacreature that was live ammunition due to its drill bit-esque appearance, the idea was that upon impact it would consume the victim inside out, living or dead, my friend and i decided that the only way to attain them is to raise them yourself, we were inspired by antfarms and triops that we decided that they would have a hive structure so we created one

As said in the op, you will specialize based on experiences, everyone starts as a worker, if you want to call it that, there is technically king shullets, which act like drones in that their only purpose is to impregnate a queen. It's unplayable, and he looks different than a shullet (as does the queen), I will upload pictures of them to when I get to it...

Community based, I had a concept a while ago for bug swarms each other but it got too complex and there would have been issues with locations and not being able to find each other due to the largeness of the world, gotta be a scale to a bug's view, not only that but it feels more personal. besides, this I feel is better for story elements... But that's what an interest Check is for, if it is requested enough I am willing to change it

Regarding what meritania said, why not make sub-divisions of the hive, each one belongs to a player and is assigned a certain amount of workers, warriors, etc. And you can upgrade your sub division of the hive for the benefit of the hive or yourself.
Thing is the shullets have to start underwater so the biome will either be underwater or near water. Anyway they aren't particular to swarms either as they don't need to be, they are large and much deadlier that a bee or wasp, they can take out most river based fish, the most shullets at one time, 50

Regarding Meri and EP, I'd say, great ideas. But since Kraz put a 50 shullet per hive limit, I guess most shullets are strong enough to contribute greatly even on their own.
The idea of playing as something that isn't exactly sentient (at least not on the level of humans) is kind of strange. As Vilage said in the General RP thread regarding an animal-themed RP, a realistic animal RP would revolve around walking, eating, mating and pooping. It doesn't sound too interesting to me. What I would like to see personally is a Spore-like set up, where we play as animals we've made up ourselves, kind of like Mihndar's civilization RP. There's still the issue of sentience, but I guess we could somehow work around that.

The queen is not playable, it represents the will of the rpers, that's the point of the polls, prey is not playable either, and the types of prey is also dependent on environment. that's why I first ignored them, because those questions were easily inferred.
I don't trust kabling because of what happened in universal paradox, which resulted in me being unable to post for three days. This isn't about that...
Anyway, regarding hugs, mating would be only the first post. That's it, but its more than what you're describing, this rp involves hunting, defending, building, specialization, fighting, events, objectives, it's more than just animals, its a civilization
