As Jack turns a valve, the device lets out a lot of green steam, and all the fluid gauges quickly empty. Above the church tower, a thunder storm sets up, with lots of lightning all hitting the main building of the church. It doesn't last very long, about a minute, but when it ends, the church roof has collapsed.
As the device releases the steam, Jack lowers himself back down to the belfry floor, watching as the mechanisms do their work. "Well, suppose that would explain the snow, and possibly the explosion, then." Still, Jack can't help but wonder who would be capable of building such a device, and for what purpose.
"I'LL BE COLLAPSING THE TOWER. PLEASE GET OUT IF YOU'RE IN IT."
The hammer hits the tower, and it's velocity sends it flying through it, narrowly missing Boris's head, who is standing on the other side. The hammer causes the tower to collapse in on itself, and Jack will need to be quick to get out before he's crushed.
He doesn't have very long to wonder about these things as he hears Niamh's shout from below. "Oh, that's not good." As Niamh begins casting her spell, Jack starts picking up the equipment he had removed, throwing it all out of the tower save for Thunderbolt, which he had left behind when he fired the rope-bolt earlier, and Magebuster, which he hastily "sheathes" in the space between his belt and his trousers.
With the rope still looped around the device, Jack twists one end of the rope around his right arm, holding onto the opposing side of rope with his left to control his speed as he jumps out the belfry and rappels down the side of the tower, passing the section the hammer was aimed at as it smashes through the tower. As the tower begins to collapse, he kicks off the tower and lets go of the rope, dropping down into the snow next to his gear.
As the dust from the tower's collapse settles, a strange noise comes from within the church itself, sounding almost like the muffled roar of a beast, though it's source is a mystery. After all, there were no creatures in the church, were there?
Jack quickly gets up from his position in the snow as he hears the sound of the beast, drawing Magebuster. "From bad to worse, then."

Uyir raised his shield and crouched down slightly, so he better covers himself with his protective shield, and then noticed the girl behind Vernon. Likely not Annie, and they did not seem to be a father and daughter. So he unsheathed his sword with his other hand, and drops it on the ground. "Patience Ace, if you would please, I do not believe he wishes us harm, although I do think he would try and kill us if we attacked him. As for our business, we're merely wandering around the town, staying together to have a better chance against any hostile entities. I at least, and I presume the rest of us, came here to prevent whatever is here, and causing such supernatural things to happen, from spreading across the world. Based on what I have seen so far, the quarantine doesn't seem to be working so well, nor would it hold back a hostile entity that I have encountered"
Inhumanly fast Jord had drawn his steel sword as soon as Vernon shifted his aim to Ace, and prepared to dodge or even block any crossbow bolts from Vernon.
They lower their hand, tucking it under their cloak. After a second, the trembling stops. They don't drop the shield, though. "Quarantine?" they say, quietly. "Ah, that would explain it."
"Adventurers... always sticking there nose in where they don't belong." Vernon utters the words, barely audible to anyone else as he pieces together just what was taking place here. He let's a short shot of breath from his nose to reflect his willingness to be at ease. These people were probably no real threat, just nosy or on the run from outside troubles. In truth, they may even prove useful to his cause. At that moment of reckoning, Vernon realizes he did recognize one of the group, Curi. He did not know her by name, though he had noticed her around town on numerous occasions. She was however different than he recalled, something about her had changed, no doubt the reason as to why he hadn't been familiar with her to start.
At this reasoning, Vernon, void of any sudden movements, lowers both weapons, attaching one crossbow to his belt to free his left hand and gives a light tap to Ki behind him. "It's fine, girl," He tells her; "You can relax."
He looks at Curi, squinting with one eye. "You may want to do something about the coffin smell you've got happening. You stink of death warmed up, maybe bathe those clothes in some smoke for a while. Still, nice to see a familiar face around this hole of a town."
Regarding Uyir, he nods and makes a point; "Nice to see some power of observation taking place."
He speaks to the groups, voice calm and to the point. "There be monsters here, boys and girls. Better we save our energy for them. I've got some work to do involving the protection of this young girl behind me, and I need not mention the obvious desire for pest control around Waise.
In any case, names Vernon, resident of town. This child behind me, Ki. We're on rout to the plateau in town. Feel free to join me if you're looking to make difference that doesn't involve selfish needs or stupidity, hell knows I could do with any assistance that's offered. Just don't tag along if you're gonna be more of a nuisance than help."
He extends his hand for anyone willing to get the pleasantries of greeting out of the way.

"Hmm... I see. Could his name be Maras, per chance?"
Ei cautiously pokes the snow Ariel on the cheek with a needle. At the same time, Ariel feels a sting on his left cheek as if he's been bitten by a mosquito or something similar.
Buttons: "Well, alright then, glad we have that cleared up." Ariel says. A little further on, he feels a slight sting to his left cheek, creating an automatic reaction to slap whatever had bitten him. "Damn, so that's what a mosquito bite feels like." He mutters, hoping neither of them noticed him hitting himself.
"Yeah. Him." Annie replies, not really caring too much as her interest divert to Ei's actions towards Ariel. She seems vaguely pleased, though tilts her head at Ei with curiosity. "Not good enough." Her face becomes severe. "Make him hurt!"
While Ariel walks with Maras and Renard, Annie strides up behind him and gives him a tap on the shoulder.
"Boils!"
Her voice is sharp, nasty, and as she falls back again she begins to giggle, watching at a large boil that develops on his cheek where the sting had been placed.
With Ei, Annie seems delirious with pleasure, swaying as she stands, giggling to the point of almost losing her breath.

Curi nods. "Perhaps." she simply stated. Nothing else to say. Curi shakes his hand.

Uyir nods to Vernon, leaning over to pick up his sword and sheath it "I myself will be joining you." He reaches out and firmly gives Vernon a handshake "My name is Uyir, it's nice to meet you, Vernon." He laughs "It will be a nice change to actually make a difference in this place"

Boris and Buttons had watched the whole event take place, and were quite close to where Jack ended up landing. But they are both glad to see that he is safe. Buttons rubs affectionately up against Jack's ankle. Boris is smiling, and even goes so far as to wipe some snow from Jack's clothing to help.
"Boris sure is glad Jack is okay." Boris says, but then his expression drops to a more distasteful look when he sees a girl run up to them, who was apparently responsible for the collapse of the tower, plus she was a girl, and these two things made Boris's heart thump with anger.
"You're a very bad girl!" Boris tells Niamh, clenching his fist; "You almost hurt my Jack - You don't be mean to my Jack!"

"Thanks, big guy," he says, turning to Niamh as she approaches, though his focus is quickly drawn back to Boris when he begins to get angry at her. "It's alright, Boris. She didn't know I was in the tower, and I got out unharmed. I doubt she meant to do any harm," Jack tried to calm Boris, knowing where his rage could lead if it got out of hand. He then turned to Niamh, continuing, "As for sticking together, having more people with us is always welcome. Especially since it would seem quite a few members of my former party have, eh, gone elsewhere."

Boris slides his jaw to one side, grinding his teeth to think hard about what Jack is saying. "Well, daw... okay then. Boris trust what Jack says. But she better not be mean to Boris neither." He didn't bother saying hello to Niamh, because generally talking to girls never turned out to well for Boris, but after releasing the tension of his fists, he notices a black bird flying above the church. He chuckles a little, admiring its flight. "Boris thinks that be a raven. Sure is a pretty bird. Boris likes birds." He says, then turning away, and about to ask which direction they were headed next, Boris sees the dark figure in a black cloak standing on the road. "Jack...." He points at the figure; "Do you know who that is? Boris doesn't recognize them."
Buttons is alerted of the figure when Boris points it out, and immediately jumps up into Jacks arms for security.
Chisille slides down off the rocky platform and back onto the snowy ground. She looks over to Gwendolyn and the little bird she has with her, taking a step forward and then another. She sniffed the air where she stood, taking in her scent so she could identify her later. She certainly had that smell of bird about her too.
Once that was done, she supposed she could just try to ignore her for now. Maybe get to know her later on if she proves to be like Betty. There was certainly a pattern that she was making out. The female humans were far more... gentle looking and less prone to scare her off. They usually just screamed and ran when they saw her. Or cowered in terror and begged for their life before their men came along to throw a kitchen knife at her.
She kept close to the rocky plateau wall and started to walk along it. As long as it was there one side of her was protected and she felt far better about moving about like this. Her tail wobbled a bit to the left and to the right as she made her way through the snow. Shorter legs meant harder movement through it...
As the grey dragon before her approaches, Gwendolyn can detect all sorts of magic radiating from her. Some of them feel far stronger then the others, those of which are barely noticeable but nevertheless there, hidden away within her. Before Gwen can comment on it though, the dragon turns away and starts walking beside the cliff of the plateau.
Gwen waves hesitantly at Betty as she walks forward to look at the cliff. She attempts to scratch her forearm under one of her gloves as she glances it over before stepping back to look up to the top. "I could try to help," she says. "It's not like I have anything better to do."
"Yea, walking around would certainly be better than staying and doing nothing. Lead the way."
Lyudmila then turns to Gwendolyn.
"You coming with us? We're trying to get to that fancy castle on top of the plateau."
"Well alrighty then!" Betty takes the lead, feeling relatively good about given the role as leader, even if she didn't think it was going last very gosh darn long. She gives her leg a pat as she starts walking East around the plateau, and tells her little dragon friend to stay close. The only problem was (and something she preferred to keep to herself at that time) was that Betty sometimes got a little stressed out when given responsibility. Now I'm not sayn that leading this small gang of people was a big issue, but she just didn't want to let anybody down, simple as that - I mean like gosh, what if she leads them into the jaws of a monster or something like? That sort of thing wouldn't be a good start at all. So Betty tried taking her mind off the stress she was feeling by thinking about butterflies, and why not Butterflies? Butterflies were nice and pretty and made Betty feel relaxed.
"Butterflies-butterflies-butterflies!" She explained just out of the blue, but feeling much better about everything. Unfortunately, just as she spoke the words, a dark shadow came over the gang, making Betty think that maybe it was gonna start snowing again, that was until she turned around and saw a countless multitude of harmless orange Butterflies following them.
"Oh boy o boy," She said looking ahead sharply again, "best you guys don't look back right now."
Boris slides his jaw to one side, grinding his teeth to think hard about what Jack is saying. "Well, daw... okay then. Boris trust what Jack says. But she better not be mean to Boris neither." "Jeez-- I didn't know your face could become any uglier," he remarked, narrowing his eyes. Renard did not doubt that there was something going on with him, but what could he really do in this situation except crack hilarious jokes?
With another piece of candy thrown into his mouth, he looked to Maras, curious about his thoughts.

Ei grins, and pokes Snow Ariel's hand several times with a needle. To Ariel, each poke feels like a very painful sting though there's no visible cause of them. Unfortunately for him though, the pain causes him to drop his sword in the snow.
"Don't worry, Annie, I'm only just getting started. All the fun things need some preparations first."
Ariel attempts to ignore Annie when she taps him on the shoulder, but the sudden pain from the boil on his cheek isn't something he could ignore.

Chisille, who was not the kind of dragon that would take advice such as not looking at a dark shadow behind them, especially when the one who gives the advice sounds nervous, turns around to look at what Betty was suddenly so worried about. To her surprise she saw thousands of tiny orange wings flapping in the sky above them like one great big dance.
At first she was quite alarmed by what she saw and a spark threatened to roll off her tongue, until she realized that all the little creatures in the cloud above them were merely butterflies. Harmless and slow. Not even worth the bit of food that was smaller then a snack from that one time she had managed to catch one. "It's fine. Not bad. Butterflies I think they're called. Lots of them." she tells Lyudmila and to a certain extent, Gwendolyn as well.
Her feet were starting to get quite cold from all this walking around in the snow, but without shoes like what the humans had she just had to bare the icy needles trying to dig into her paws as they all walked around the plateau. To try and take her mind of it, she got back to looking up at the rock wall, checking for any crevices, holes or other possible ways up. She couldn't keep the distraction up for long as she shook the cold out of one of her feet, but she still kept looking anyway.

Jack turns to look at the cloaked figure Boris is pointing towards, staring at him for a brief moment before answering, "No, I can't say I do..." Jack didn't know why, but he got a bad feeling looking at the figure.
Boris looks at Jack, But doesn't have any words to share. Buttons isn't purring in Jack arms, instead he trembling slightly, letting out a long threatened-kitten moan while the hairs on his back stood on end and his claws gripped to Jacks arm.
Renard popped a piece of candy into his mouth as he watched Ariel seemingly throw another fit. His face turned into one of mild shock when he notices the boil on Ariel's face, though it immediately turns into somewhat of a sneer.
"Jeez-- I didn't know your face could become any uglier," he remarked, narrowing his eyes. Renard did not doubt that there was something going on with him, but what could he really do in this situation except crack hilarious jokes?
With another piece of candy thrown into his mouth, he looked to Maras, curious about his thoughts.
"Hmm? You say something, Ariel?" Maras says, turning around to Ariel. "Something about a mosquito?"
"What's going on, Ariel? Where did that boil come from?" Maras asks, confused. He opens his mouth to speak, but then seemingly changes his mind for some reason.
Maras seems lost in thought, not even noticing Renard watching him.
Ariel missed Maras' question about the mosquito, too busy getting a boil on his cheek. He also has little to say about Renard's comment and Maras' follow up question, too frustrated by the pain in his hand as he drops his sword. "She's still doing it." he says and he cusses pretty loud and picks up his sword with his other hand, sheathing it quickly on his back before it is taken again. He's feeling humiliated at this point, and had very few ideas on what to do about it. But he figure testing the water was a good place to start and, once his sword was secured, he kicks Annie in the head. He figured it wasn't going to do much in the ways of injuring her, all he really wanted to know is if she was solid matter or not. No point in fighting something you can't touch.
Jord sheaths his sword again, and walks to Vernon to shake his hand. "I'm Jord," he said as he was shaking Vernon's hand, "I'll be going with you guys then, I'm feeling like I want to have an adventure."
Ki carefully peeks out from behind Vernon, cautiously looking at the adventurers they just met.
"Hi..." she says, barely audible.
Vernon is beginning to feel something towards Ki, as one might feel towards a baby sister. He places one hand on her head with a gentle caress when she speaks to the others, moves his hand to her shoulder as they exit the tomb together. Still, his growing emotional attachment to Ki was not necessarily a thing of comfort, for the closer he became to the girl the harder it would be if he happened to fail at his task to protect her. He had already lost far too much to this towns curse.
"As you wish." He speaks to the group. "Come if you're coming. There's no time to waste."
Heading back toward town, he explains to those with him the basic objective of the plan at hand: First of all, keeping Ki safe until they arrive at the castle, though he admits that responsibility to fall squarely on his own shoulders. The other objective seemed basic enough, though the details were vague at best; To obtain the three keys that would ultimately grant them access to the summit of the plateau, the castle grounds. One key had already been found, pried from the dead hands of the towns previous Mayer, leaving two more - one of which is said to be in the possession of a young witch, the other in the possession of somebody living underground.

Annie grits her teeth at Ei, angered at her own failure in allowing her concentration to lapse, ultimately allowing Maras and Renard to see her, if only for a moment. Above, the Raven descends to circle several meters above the heads of Boris, Jack and Niamh. As it does so, the cloaked figure begins to speak, and although it was still some distance away, its voice seems close without the need to yell, as if they were standing only an arms reach away. It was deep. Calm. Grave. Lacking emotional. Behind the voice was a sound... similar to that of a rattlesnake.
"Boris..." A moment of silence. "...I seek that which you have found." Silence. "A child... Female... Indecent...Empowered."
"As you wish." He speaks to the group. "Come if you're coming. There's no time to waste."

Apparently this is what some of my friends think of me here:
As the dust from the tower's collapse settles, a strange noise comes from within the church itself, sounding almost like the muffled roar of a beast, though it's source is a mystery. After all, there were no creatures in the church, were there?
Orson stops moving completely for a second, he slowly turns over to the church ruins, and steps back a little.
"Butterflies? In this cold? Strange."
Lyudmila seems rather disconnected from what's currently going on, as if her mind is occupied with something else at the moment.
Boris looks at Jack, But doesn't have any words to share. Buttons isn't purring in Jack arms, instead he trembling slightly, letting out a long threatened-kitten moan while the hairs on his back stood on end and his claws gripped to Jacks arm.

"Well, that answers my question then. Who is she?" Maras asks, confused.
Ki smiles, and follows Vernon, though still not very trusting of the others.
Annie grits her teeth at Ei, angered at her own failure in allowing her concentration to lapse, ultimately allowing Maras and Renard to see her, if only for a moment. She throws a temper tantrum, dropping to the snow on her knees and punching the ground wildly, screaming and throwing her head about in a fit of rage. As her little fists pounded the earth, the snow became mush, the ground began to shutter and crack, as though her strength was that of many strong men. Eventually her knuckles began to bleed. Her tantrum drew to a close. She lifted her eyes back up to Ei with a serine yet deranged, smiling gaze. She licks the blood from her knuckles, apparently pleasured by the taste....
"That's better...."
Ei looks at Annie, startled at her behaviour, and shakes her head.
"Why not save your anger for Ariel instead? Put it to some good use. Anger makes for good curses, you know? You should give it a try one day, curse a bunch of people. Turn them into frogs and such."
Ei seems to ponder something for a bit, then smiles.
"Watch this."
Ei gets up, and reaches into the snow, pulling out some sort of stick. She walks away a bit, and draws a circle around herself. The circle soon starts glowing orange, and foreign letters start floating around her above the circle she drew. Ei places her hand flat in the air, with the palm facing downwards, before turning it around and seemingly pulling it up. At the same time, a cauldron rises out of the ground between her and Annie. Ei walks over to it, and looks into it, smiling. She then picks up the Snow Ariel, and drops it in the Cauldron, resulting in a large eruption of colourless flame.
Despite the cold weather and the snow, Ariel suddenly finds it very hot outside, and the temperature he feels is slowly increasing until he feels like he's on fire, when suddenly the temperature he feels drops to a freezing temperature again. This process repeats several times, slowly becoming uncomfortably hot and then suddenly becoming uncomfortably cold.
"And this is only the start, Annie. If I had a more direct... connection, I'd be able to do far more. But alas, I don't have his blood or anything similar."
Vernon is beginning to feel something towards Ki, as one might feel towards a baby sister. He places one hand on her head with a gentle caress when she speaks to the others, moves his hand to her shoulder as they exit the tomb together. -some others, I guess-
Ace's shield vanishes, leaving six points of light hovering around them. These dart into their outstretched hand, and they snappily shut their fingers around them, tucking them somewhere under their cloak. They choose to follow Vernon back to town, though they remain silent.
As the device releases the steam, Jack lowers himself back down to the belfry floor, watching as the mechanisms do their work. "Well, suppose that would explain the snow, and possibly the explosion, then." Still, Jack can't help but wonder who would be capable of building such a device, and for what purpose.
Jack quickly gets up from his position in the snow as he hears the sound of the beast, drawing Magebuster. "From bad to worse, then."
As the dust of the tower fall settles, a dark hooded figure can be seen on the road. It's face is hidden, its hands tucked in its sleeves. It is still. It is watching. A black raven circles high above the church, making no sound.
With Ei, Annie seems delirious with pleasure, swaying as she stands, giggling to the point of almost losing her breath.
.............................................................................
Curi nods. "Perhaps." she simply stated. Nothing else to say. Curi shakes his hand.
Apparently this is what some of my friends think of me here:
"Always drunk." - Nights
"He's cool." - Pi
"[INSULT] [INSULT] [INSULT]." - Sparky
"He's adorable." - Leere
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Digits
Uyir nods to Vernon, leaning over to pick up his sword and sheath it "I myself will be joining you." He reaches out and firmly gives Vernon a handshake "My name is Uyir, it's nice to meet you, Vernon." He laughs "It will be a nice change to actually make a difference in this place"
Niamh gets up. She's a tiny bit disorientated but she recomposes herself and runs towards Jack.
"Sorry about that, whatever that sound came from, it doesn't sound too good. Want to stick together incase something bad happens?"
- C.C.
"It's a side thing," says Renard with a half-smirk, shrugging. "Besides... poor old Renard's gotta have descendants."
Jack pets Buttons as he rubs against his ankle, and looks up at Boris after he wipes some of the snow off of him.
Ariel attempts to ignore Annie when she taps him on the shoulder, but the sudden pain from the boil on his cheek isn't something he could ignore.
"Get the hell away from me!" He demands, turning towards her and drawing his sword. He places the blade against her neck. "I don't give a damn if you're just a kid. Keep this up and I take off your head. Now remove the boil curse, you insolent little brat!"
Jack turns to look at the cloaked figure Boris is pointing towards, staring at him for a brief moment before answering, "No, I can't say I do..." Jack didn't know why, but he got a bad feeling looking at the figure.
Renard popped a piece of candy into his mouth as he watched Ariel seemingly throw another fit. His face turned into one of mild shock when he notices the boil on Ariel's face, though it immediately turns into somewhat of a sneer.

"What's going on, Ariel? Where did that boil come from?" Maras asks, confused. He opens his mouth to speak, but then seemingly changes his mind for some reason.
Maras seems lost in thought, not even noticing Renard watching him.
Lyudmila looks at Betty, confused.
"Why not? Is something the matter?"
Chisille, who was not the kind of dragon that would take advice such as not looking at a dark shadow behind them, especially when the one who gives the advice sounds nervous, turns around to look at what Betty was suddenly so worried about. "He's cool." - Pi
"[INSULT] [INSULT] [INSULT]." - Sparky
"He's adorable." - Leere
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Digits
Orson stops moving completely for a second, he slowly turns over to the church ruins, and steps back a little.

"Butterflies? In this cold? Strange."
Lyudmila seems rather disconnected from what's currently going on, as if her mind is occupied with something else at the moment.
"Who is doing what?" Maras asks.
"Well, that answers my question then. Who is she?" Maras asks, confused.
Ki smiles, and follows Vernon, though still not very trusting of the others.
Ace's shield vanishes, leaving six points of light hovering around them. These dart into their outstretched hand, and they snappily shut their fingers around them, tucking them somewhere under their cloak. They choose to follow Vernon back to town, though they remain silent.
