Name: Ariel.
Species: Angel (Fallen)
Appearance: Human appearance, with all Cyan eyes and small black pupils. Pale skin. Black hair. An almost perfect athletic body type with well pronounced capped shoulders. He has wings, although they are invisible in the material world until used. He smells like freshly baked cookies.
Abilities: He has a great deal of physical strength (about that of three or four men), speed and agility. Can not fly properly, since he has fallen from grace. He can get himself off the ground, but only in small bursts (say up onto the roof of a one or two story house). He can, however, descend gradually as if gliding. Can communicate with animals and manipulate nature, to a minor degree, as these abilities have also been reduced since his fall.
Special Weaknesses (If any): Really loves sweet food, so much so that if there is sweet food around, he will find it difficult to pay attention to anything else going on around him.
Even though he is stronger and faster than a human, he can be injured and die, if the injury is serious enough. His healing rate is also faster than that of a human, but the greater the injury, the more energy is drained from him until the wound is healed
Items: What "seems" to be a rusty old sword.
Backstory: Was an envoy and messenger of God for humanity for many thousands of years. He also spent some time as a Guardian for humans, protecting them from evil spirits. Recently, he disagreed with the actions of one of his brother angels and attacked said angel without first seeking counsel from the higher ranking angels. For this, and for the battle which ensued among the celestial bodies on account of his actions, he was cast out of heaven to wander the earth as a fallen angel (did NOT fall so far as to be made a demon, from which there is no returning to grace).
"Thats strange, and what is done with said suspicious people?" she asks, and unbuttons one of her pockets and hands the Innkeeper around 10 of the coins she has, silver ones. Presumably for staying longer than the night. She gets a bit closer to the Innkeeper, whispering in his ear. "That could be counted as suspicious person right?" she refers to the young man who walked into the Inn.
"Him? Well, he's been around several times yea. Nobody's seem him around before the incidents started happening, nor does anybody know what he does for a living. He just stops by every night to write something, sometimes eat a bit and then leaves again."
"Hm. I see." He pauses for a moment before continuing, "Snowstorms... you know of any places I'd be able to get the clothes for one of those? I'm not sure how long I'll be here- potentially quite some time- and I don't think my current outfit will be sufficient for that sort of weather, heh..." He stops, thinking about what the potential source of such a thing could be. A wizard's experiments? Jack knew mages always wielded strange and mysterious powers, and abusing that power tended to have some nasty byproducts- some of which he had personally put down- but he had never heard of any mage powerful enough to change the weather of an entire region at will, or cause people to disappear without a trace. Summoning creatures was a possibility, but enough to warrant a quarantine was beyond anything he'd witnessed, especially combined with the other anomalies.
"Well, there isn't really anyone left in town that really sells clothes, but if you're lucky you can find some in a house."
"Well!" Betty tells the innkeeper, "I was just back home practicing a new spell, and I just kinda ended up here. Nothing much else to say about that. But it sure is a nice old place you have here! and seeing that I'm here now, how about a glass of fresh milk and a room for the night? How much will you pinch me for all that? Oh, and just by chance, you happen to know how far away the state of Alabama is from here? Cuz, gosh darn, that's where I'm from!"
Betty then takes another look around, and wonders a more important question... "...And I've just gotta ask, that hearth and all sure does provide a nice atmosphere to this here establishment, but haven't you kind folk got electricity at all??"
"Alabama? Never heard of the place. Nor have I heard of this electricity thing for that matter."

The Penguin burps a great deal and not much else.
If you want to keep the truth about the sword a secret that's fine, but please PM me the info about it so I can know if it's OP or not.

A dull thudding noise can be heard by those in the Inn coming from a higher floor. The Innkeeper seems confused by the sound, probably not knowing what is causing it.

Apparently this is what some of my friends think of me here:
"Alabama? Never heard of the place. Nor have I heard of this electricity thing for that matter."
A dull thudding noise can be heard by those in the Inn coming from a higher floor. The Innkeeper seems confused by the sound, probably not knowing what is causing it.
"Who in the heck hasn't heard of good old alabamalama of the great US of A, you big goof? What country is this anyway? And who hasn't heard of electricity? What do you think this is, the middle ages or some gosh darn thing? Gosh, I sure do hope I make it home for my birthday. Will be turning the big ol 18 on the turn of the millennium, the big ol year 2000! That's right!"
Betty looks at the innkeeper a moment as if he should probably congratulate her on the coming birthday situation, maybe seeking some confirmation that getting home to Alabama won't be a problem. After not getting too much of an immediate response from him, she smiles even wider, and asks;
"Well gosh, Mr. ain't you forgetting something? How bouts that milk and a room, you big ol long streak of pelican poop? No offense at all to your sensitives, that's just an affection insult. I use them a lot. My daddy says my playful insults are a nervous defense mechanism thingy-me-jiggly, but I don''t know anything about all that technical hogwash."
When she finally finished speaking, Betty hears the thudding upstairs. She seems entertained by it.
"Well gosh o my o my!" She says, placing her hands on her hips smartly; "you got yourself an elephant up there or something?"
Chiselle can feel sleep calling her name. She felt tired and wants to just collapse onto the ground and snooze. The warmth of the hole-ridden blanket was making this feeling even stronger, and with hunger a bit less of an issue it just made her feel even more tired. No... I must stay awake... I just need to last longer... then those humans... She thought.
She yawned. Her eyelids drooped. Her limbs began to relax. "Come on... Need to stay awake!" she shouts to herself, nipping at her own paw to try and stimulate her mind a bit more. She did not realize that anyone out in the streets could've heard that, but at the time she didn't care. She was just too busy trying to encourage herself to not give in to the drowsy feeling she had.
Finally she gave up. It was too much for a juvenile dragon to handle. She closed her eyes, wrapped the blanket even tighter around her on instinct and relaxed, curling up on the floor. Soon she drifted off to dreamland. Even while sleeping she was still listening out for things though. Any sounds would very likely awaken her immediately.

Ariel
The battle in the heavens came to an end, and Ariel had his sword stained with the blood of many angels before the archangels stepped in to put a stop the chaos that Ariel had unleashed. Captured, Ariel was brought before the high court, where he gave an account of his actions and the reasons thereof. Micheal, the leading angel, and by divine orders, sentenced Ariel to an indefinite time on earth, while being reduced in power and rank, till such a time that he can prove himself once again worthy of his stature as an angel.
Cast down from heaven, Ariel falls through the tunnel of light towards earth where, just below the ceiling on the ground floor of The Golden Penguin Inn, a vortex opens up for just a moment, which is just enough time to spew Ariel out - right on top of a certain human dressed mostly in red and equipped with a crossbow and sword (Jack). After landing on this man, who is having a conversation with the innkeeper innkeeper, Ariel, dressed in absolutely nothing but the strap that keeps his sword on his back, falls to the floor, lays there stunned for a moment, then looks up at the man he landed on, saying:
"Uh, hello there. Pleasure to actually meet you in person, Jack."
He then gives Jack a wink as he collects himself up off the floor, briefly brushes himself off, and looks nonchalantly around the room:

Boris
Boris is well into his third dream when the sound of a dull thud rouses him from his sleep. He opens his eyes for a moment, then shrugs it off in an attempt to get back to his dream, before another loud crashing sound is heard from down stairs.
He sits up with a start, shakes off his sleep, and looks around the room. The dull thud sound continues and he attempts to locate the direction of it.
"Oh boy, well that's no good, who would dare wake me up during such a pleasant dream?"
He picks himself up off his bed, slipping on his pants as he listens more carefully....
Little Annie Feme finds her way to the Privy, behind the stairs at the back of the inn. She is sitting over a hole on the hollowed out timber bench, feeling rather nice now that she had a chance to relieve herself. Despite the terrible stench of urine and feces in that place, she is more relaxed now that she is alone - or rather, she was starting to feel relaxed until the sound of the dull thudding upstairs put an abrupt end to the peaceful moment.
She stays seated, though sitting up straight, clutching her locket ever so tightly while she listened closer to the sound. To make matters worse, it took but a second longer for the whispers of her mother to start up again; and now that Annie was alone, her mothers voice was louder, sharper, adding to the rising tension -
What have I been telling you, wretched child? There is no escape! Did you think you were safe by entering this place? Of course not! They will find you wherever you go! They don't care where you hide! Now, clean yourself up and cover your disgrace! get out of this room! Can't you see that you are trapped in here?
Annie takes the well used gompf stick from the nearby container to wipe herself, stands up to let her chemise and dress down, and then quickly makes her way to the door where, just shy of opening it, she heard a sudden burst of commotion taking place in the main room of the inn, which sounded more or less like something heavy falling to the floor. Pressing her ear to the door, she then heard the muffled voice of a man calling out for some clothing.
Careful! Her mother snapped at her strictly. He knows too much. Stay well clear of the man who has just arrived! You hear me, child? Now, go, leave this room, and be sure to avoid the creature upstairs!
Annie opens the door and, keeping her head down, heads quickly past the stairs and into the main room once more....
"Well, there isn't really anyone left in town that really sells clothes, but if you're lucky you can find some in a house."
"Right, right. I'll have to take a look tomo-"
Jack was then interrupted by a man landing on top of him. He sits up as the man gets off of him, shaking off a slight daze before pushing himself back up, looking at the stranger, his lack of clothing the least of Jack's concerns at the moment. "Meet in person? You know who I am? Have we... met before? I don't think I recognize you. And, more importantly..." Jack takes a brief glance around before looking back at the undressed man, evidently confused. "Where the hell did you come from, anyways?"

Ariel gives a little point upwards with his thumb, to indicate the general direction from which he came.
"I do apologize for the accuracy of my descent, seems those in charge of my banishment were having themselves a little fun."
He then gives Jack a charismatic smile, squints a little as he looks into his eyes,
"And yeah, knowing names of people is... uh, well, part of the job. In your case, however, I'm a little more than just familiar with your name, see... My type find it of special interest, and sometimes entertainment, to keep an eye on people such as yourself, people who, err... how do I put this; make a bigger impact on the world than most? I'm what you might call, somewhatacquainted with your deeds."
Ariel steals a few seconds to look around at the diverse variety of people in the room,
"I must say though, there's no shortage of the special kind in this place. But hey -" He gives a small laugh; "If I'm not being rude right now; where are my manner?"
Offering Jack his hand, he gives a small nod of respect, and tells him,
"Feel free to call me Ariel, fallen angel of the lord, as of just a few moments ago."

"I must say though, there's no shortage of the special kind in this place. But hey -" He gives a small laugh; "If I'm not being rude right now; where are my manner?"
The man notices Ariel, and despite wearing a sack as a mask he is clearly shocked, after a few seconds the man decides to try and ignore Ariel and doze off.
A dull thudding noise can be heard by those in the Inn coming from a higher floor. The Innkeeper seems confused by the sound, probably not knowing what is causing it.
Annie gives a thankful nod to the puzzled innkeeper as she enters the room, then retakes her seat in her secluded corner. As she does so, her eyes dart about briefly to acknowledge the present company. In her absence, two new people had arrived, one being a man with blue hair, busy jotting something down in his handbook, the other being a naked man who, upon further discrete eavesdropping, introduces himself as Ariel, fallen angel of the lord. Ariel is speaking to Jack, as also overheard in conversation.
Per usual, being an unwanted though observant recluse in the corner of society, was gradually allowing Annie to learn about the varied visitors. In a way, being among the many strangers in the room no longer made Annie feel so very uncomfortable - now, being that a creature was moving around upstairs, she felt a note of security in the presence of these people.
Once again staring at the floor to avoid drawing attention to herself, while keeping her ears open to the conversations around her, Annie let her mind drift back to another memory of more... fortunate days:
In the memory, Annie's mother, Chattox, was on her death bed, and had just presented her with the locket that Annie had carried with her every day since.
"Now sweet, sweet child," Her mother beckoned with a weakening voice, "Be sure that you stay by my side until the end. Open the locket... look inside... you will see that it is now empty, but it will not be that way for much longer...."
Annie opened the locket and observed the void within.
"...soon,'' her mother continued, ''I will take my place in the darkness of your grasp. All you need do is stay vigilant and... when the time is nigh, hold the empty locket to my final, dying breath. Then... my sweet child, I will be with you forevermore...."
She nods. "Lets be sure to keep an eye on him. Because nobody has seen him around before the incidents started happening...perhaps he is related to the incidents, or something of that sort?" she suggests, also whispering and then hears the noise. "What was that?" she questions.
"I have no clue. It seems to be coming from the attic but the only way to get there is via my bedroom." The Innkeeper says as he points at a staircase behind him. "I'll check it out in a bit after this girl here pays for the milk she wants."
"Who in the heck hasn't heard of good old alabamalama of the great US of A, you big goof? What country is this anyway? And who hasn't heard of electricity? "Look, I haven't got a clue as to what you're talking about miss, but I'll get you your milk after you paid. It'll cost you four copper coins. As for the source of the noise, I don't know. I'll check the attic in a bit."
After hearing the noise Jord grabbed his scabbards and put them on his back. He then sneaked upstairs with his hand on the hilt of his silver sword.
Arriving upstairs, Jord realises that the sound is still coming from above him, and that he has no idea how to get to whatever rooms lie above, as there is no other staircase that leads up nearby.
Boris is well into his third dream when the sound of a dull thud rouses him from his sleep. He opens his eyes for a moment, then shrugs it off in an attempt to get back to his dream, before another loud crashing sound is heard from down stairs.

The thumping sound seems to come from above, likely from some kind of attic.
The newcomer, having noticed the thumping sound, starts packing his things again.

Boris hones in on the sound, which seems to be coming from a higher level of the building, but there is no trapdoor in the ceiling, so he steps out into the hallway where he meets with Jord.
"Oh, uh, hi there. I don't believe we've met. My name is Boris, some just call me the Bonecrusher. And who might you be?"
Chisille's sleep, and as a consequence of all the worry that's going through her mind, her nightmares, get disturbed when a bunch of loud noises start coming from the inn. From where she is it sounds far quieter, but it's enough for her sensitive ears to pick up.
She bolts upright, assuming it's coming from somewhere else inside the house, like something sneaking around. If it's a mouse or rat, delicious. A running meal. If it's something else though, she needed to make sure of what it was.
Uncurling from the blanket, she was once again exposed to the night air of the house as she crept around in search of the thing making the noise. However as she moved closer to the source she found it was coming from outside, from the opposite site of the house from where she was sleeping. She jumped up onto a table to get a better look out of one of the windows and there, over at the building that she had previously gone in. The noises were coming from the inn.
She was relieved, and slightly disappointed too that it wasn't coming from inside the house she was in, but at the same time she had a thought. Whatever was going over there... loud noises are distracting... if they're all going after the noise... maybe I won't have to wait. She still hesitated, as being patient could be just as rewarding as trying a sneaky approach. Maybe she should wait just a little bit longer before deciding to enter...

Renard's eyes narrowed. He had been planning on leaving the inn and observing the happenings in town, but he soon came to the realisation that the inn was in fact a breeding ground for said happenings, as made evident by the appearance of a buck naked person falling from the ceiling, the multitudes of strange-looking individuals in the room, and a loud thumping noise coming from above.
Renard sighs and puts away the flintlock pistol he had been cleaning. He would bide his time, as an incident was sure to occur, judging from the way things were going.

It was hard to ignore the very... very fiiiiiiiine and athletically built naked man that had fallen out of nowhere a few moments back, but Betty did her best not to take a really, really, really good look at him as she replied to the innkeeper;
"Well, good lord! Don't let me go holding you back!" She pulls out her coin purse, and asks, "You accept American currency, right? Oh! What am I saying? Of course you do! Everyone does!"
She fingers through her coins and pulls out a crumpled up $20 bill and hands it to the innkeeper. "That ought to cover it, my good man! Now - if you don't at all mind, please allow me to go on up into that their attic for you while you fetch my milk. And don't you worry a single bit, I shoo away raccoons from the attic back home on my farm all the time. It ain't no biggy, really. Just give me a broom and I'll be on my way up there!"
She smiled broad, happy to lend a hand, as her eyes diverted back to the naked man....

"Uh, hello there. Pleasure to actually meet you in person, Jack."
He then gives Jack a wink as he collects himself up off the floor, briefly brushes himself off, and looks nonchalantly around the room:
"So hey, anyone got some clothes I can wear?"

I'm what you might call, somewhat acquainted with your deeds."
The man notices Ariel, and despite wearing a sack as a mask he is clearly shocked, after a few seconds the man decides to try and ignore Ariel and doze off.

"I have no clue. It seems to be coming from the attic but the only way to get there is via my bedroom." The Innkeeper says as he points at a staircase behind him. "I'll check it out in a bit after this girl here pays for the milk she wants."
"Look, I haven't got a clue as to what you're talking about miss, but I'll get you your milk after you paid. It'll cost you four copper coins. As for the source of the noise, I don't know. I'll check the attic in a bit."
Arriving upstairs, Jord realises that the sound is still coming from above him, and that he has no idea how to get to whatever rooms lie above, as there is no other staircase that leads up nearby.

Hannah nods. "Seems like that newcomer wants to leave for some reason. Perhaps he knows something about these noises." she suggests, whispering.
Apparently this is what some of my friends think of me here:
"Always drunk." - Nights
"He's cool." - Pi
"[INSULT] [INSULT] [INSULT]." - Sparky
"He's adorable." - Leere
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Digits
Renard's eyes narrowed. He had been planning on leaving the inn and observing the happenings in town, but he soon came to the realisation that the inn was in fact a breeding ground for said happenings, as made evident by the appearance of a buck naked person falling from the ceiling, the multitudes of strange-looking individuals in the room, and a loud thumping noise coming from above.
Renard sighs and puts away the flintlock pistol he had been cleaning. He would bide his time, as an incident was sure to occur, judging from the way things were going.
It was hard to ignore the very... very fiiiiiiiine and athletically built naked man that had fallen out of nowhere a few moments back, but Betty did her best not to take a really, really, really good look at him as she replied to the innkeeper;
