- Your character is not physically strong enough to wear platemail without difficulty. You will need 13 STR and 14 END to suffer no penalties from wearing platemail. For every 2 points you are missing, you will receive a 1-point speed penalty (-3 in total). Activating Broken Valor will remove this penalty for its duration.
- Platemail is very valuable and protective, so you will start with 4 less gold as compensation.
- Valorian Contract is too strong. It will deal 9d4 damage instead of 9d7, with the same scaling.
- Activating Broken Valor is a free action; you can use it and another ability/attack on the same turn. Activating Broken Valor costs FP in addition to the constant drain.
- Your backstory contradicts the world somewhat; your character would not be able to participate in a war between two kingdoms and enter the Wrinkle afterwards. No such kingdoms exist within the Wrinkle, and your character would not have been able to travel into the Wrinkle from outside if such kingdoms exist outside as the Rim would have blocked passage. If you want to maintain your current backstory, your character would either be transported through unknown means to a particular prison in the Conglomerate and break out from there, or wake up in the Well/somewhere in the Conglomerate whilst having memories of the battle and the prison escape. Of course, you can adjust your backstory as you wish.
(Platemail is very effective against non-magical attacks, so early-game players will need to build specifically around it if they want to use it without penalty. If you don't want to reallocate your stats but still want to move at full speed, you should downgrade your armor; since it's a part of your character, my suggestions were made with keeping the armor in mind.)
I see... Let's see what I can fix to make it so nothing contradicts with the story of the world.
As you've stated, Emme's stats aren't actually fit to equip platemail, so I adjusted it to-
STR: 12
DEX: 8
SPD: 6
END: 14
WIL: 7
INT: 6
This should be able to fix the necessary stats for her to wield her plate armour.
Valorian Contract is changed from 9d7 to 9d4
Broken Valor consumes an initial 5 FP with the constant 1-30FP drain.
Emme's backstory now has her teleported after she had escaped the prison in the kingdom and wake up in the well, a year before the current time, which means she isn't an immediate threat to everyone currently Roleplaying at the moment, she roams the city to her full extent doing her usual freelancer work in addition to hiding her bare skin from anyone.
(Is this good? I can make more adjustments if needed.)
One additional minor change: Crescent Strike deals base damage to the target and 3d6 to neighboring targets. If your average base damage is less than the average base damage of Crescent Strike, then the target will take 3d6 damage instead of base damage.
I'll add you to the OP sometime tomorrow. You can start playing immediately but you'll have to barge into the conference.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
For future reference, I'll allow adjustments to characters until they either leave the town or use a given ability/weapon/etc. (E.g. Ultracraft could modify any of his abilities or attributes of his character except for his lightning spell because he used it in the bar fight).
While I can still make changes to my character's abilities, I just want to clarify something. The summon cap (WIL / 5) mentioned in the ability Lesser Spectre will apply to all of Ruth's summons. So when Ruth can summon something else she could summon 2 lesser spectres, 1 lesser spectre and some other summon or two other summons. More powerful summons could take up multiple summon slots for balance.
I also have a question: how would an attack by a lesser spectre work? What dice roll would it need?

Lesser Spectres always deals 12 base damage and aren't affected by scaling; they lack the intelligence to perform sophisticated attacks. They ignore nonmagical armor and are resistant to weapons aside from those that are either magical or are specifically designed to harm ghosts (e.g. silver or blessed weapons).

Oh, also another question, what are the ways to learn new abilities?
If there are none I have a suggestion for my character or at least how she learns abilities.
Astra studies a tome for the night and she has x% of chance to learn the ability within the night. If she fails to learn the ability she can study the same tome again the next night with a higher chance to learn the ability.

Yet again, it's only a suggestion.
Abilities are gained on every even level-up. If you find a magical spellbook or something similar (e.g. a manuscript on longsword techniques) you can also gain abilities that way. Usually, they require a significant amount of studying before you learn the book's contents. Mundane spellbooks/manuscripts/etc. let you choose slightly stronger abilities but don't impart abilities on their own.
Edit: I've added a technical ability to Ruth called "Summoner". This gives her summoning slots and the "SS" stat (obviously, summoning slots). This does not impact Ruth in any way, it just clarifies her summoning mechanic.
So, i'f i m correct this rp's slightly dnd based aswell huh? Interesting... I might join up when there's free slots open, def will check this thread often.

Slots open up whenever the party returns to the City. I've capped it slightly early since I'm not sure whether 8 players will be too many for balance purposes, though it looks like we may end up with 5-6 players instead of 7 (Caruso seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth and Commandosaurus' activity is spotty).
I'll review applications in the meantime should you want to create a character in advance. If both Caruso and Commando are out (Commando is just busy with other things ATM I think) I'll allow you to join with the group late.

Not entirely familiar with the term "joint posting", sorry. If you need to double-post, editing your post is fine if it was recent. If it wasn't recent, edit it anyway and state that you made an edit in the OOC thread. Tennis-posting is fine if you don't make a habit of it (e.g. you post something incomplete and someone else ninjas you). If you need to tennis-post for whatever reason (e.g. a conversation between another player) do it in a PM and make the complete post when you're finished.

Yes, make a joint post if you need to do that. When you start creating a joint post, create a post in the IC thread stating "((reserved))" or something along those lines and edit the post in later; this ensures that I and other players know a post is in progress without bloating the OOC thread.
University has been busy for the past week since it's the end of the quarter, but there'll be a post next Wednesday.

Question- does FP regenerate slowly outside of combat? I'd assume it does, i just wanna be sure.
Not unless you have an item that specifically grants it.
FP regenerates whenever you sleep (six hours is a full restore) and can also regenerate by resting regularly so long as you are of sound mental health.

This looks really interesting. I'll probably make an application pretty soon, even though I know you're not accepting, but hey, worth a shot.
So, the only thing that's confuses me is limitations on character abilities. Do we make our own up during the character creation? And what about the cost of items, since we start with gold?
Edit:I made an application anyways. You can tell me what's up with it, hopefully.
Username:Keirndmo
Character Name: Ronson(Nickname:Banner)
Race: Human
Appearance: Ronson stands at a tall 6'5", with dark skin, dreadlocks, and a tired look on his face. He's 22, with his brand located on his abdomen, the shape taking form of one wolf straying from a pack, with the pack on his right side and the lone wolf on his left. His body is arrayed with various scars, many on his calloused hands, his forearms, and his face, along with several of what appear to be burn marks along his body.
He wears a grey sleeveless shirt, and if in colder weather, he puts on a buckled fur vest, and a long brown cloak. His vest has an old insignia on it, seeming to be in the shape of some sort of fang, definitely not a snake or lizard fang. His brown boots are thick and go halfway up his lower leg. His pants are of a rough brown material, held up by a black belt with a small belt buckle that depicts a sleeping pup. When armored, he covers his chest and shoulder with a scratched and unpolished breastplate, worn from many battles. His hands are protected from fingers to top forearm by metal gauntlets, also scarred in similar fashion.
Backstory: I was so confused, when I appeared in the rimmed city. It felt like I'd been woken up from some long felt nightmare, suddenly wanting for air as I clawed my way out of the deep water of the central well. Although, I knew it couldn't be a nightmare, because I felt the blood spilling from my wounds, I knew it happened, but I could only remember fuzzy bits and pieces, as though it truly was a figment during sleep.
I see comrades, the faces of them, in laughter, in intensity, in pain, in relief, all of these things...that I seemed to feel with them. Now they slowly disappear from my mind. Soon, I fear the only things left of them will be the nightmares of mine that show the loss of these friends...or perhaps these are even some memories in their own right.
Only two things came with me from that well, a wet war banner, arranged with a large moon on it, and a sword that fits all too well in my hands, scarred and battered as I am. As I stare at this banner, knowing the fading memories that go along with it, I know I must find these friends of mine. Taking my unbreakable sword in hand, I will venture into the feared Conglomerate, so that I can remain who I am!
Archetype: Vanguard (A warrior who brings himself into the thick of battle, leading the attack towards the enemies. He excels in using a large slashing weapon to cut swaths against his enemies.)
Stats:
HP: 132
FP: 55
STR: 16
DEX:5
SPD: 9
END: 14
WIL: 11
INT: 4
Abilities:
Positive:
Die hard:Refusing to let himself fall, Ronson can grit his teeth and fight through the pain of felling blows. When hit by an attack that would reduce Ronson below 1 hp, he can make a Will check to instead remain at 1 hp. This check gets significantly harder with each success until resetting the next time Ronson is downed or restored to full health. This also allows him to slightly move, but not fight, when in a downed state.
Wide Strikes:Ronson can strike all enemies that are within his range for 14FP. If an enemy is killed with this, then 6FP is refunded(but does not refund for each enemy killed if multiple are killed). If an enemy is killed, and Ronson could reach another enemy with one more step, then he can use this ability again at a 100% increased FP cost to take a step towards the nearest enemy of out his range and attack all enemies within reach again.
Harsh Life:Ronson has endured an extremely harsh life that has toiled on him both physically and mentally. This increases his Strength and Will passively by 1, along with granting a +2 bonus to the stat being used against Fear/Demoralizing effects.
Shouldered Burden:The weight of Ronson's weapon on either his back or in his hands feels like a natural instinct, separate from the memories he so dearly strives for. This adaptation to bearing a burden too large for normal men has allowed him to use his weapon's weight effectively, reducing speed penalties from larger weapons by 2. This has also passively increased his endurance.
Negative:
Harsh Life:However, this harsh Life has left Ronson with terrible memories that come in his dreams. Every time Ronson sleeps, he must succeed on a will check or be unable to rest, denying him the benefits of that rest.
Primary Weapon: Bannersword, 8d8, Long and Heavy, requires 20 strength to use effectively (This massive 6'6" sword looks like the swords used for show in parades, but seems to be made entirely functional as a sword. Its grip seems to have worn away, and has been replaced by the moonlight banner, torn into a long strip and wrapped around the handle.)
Other Inventory:
Clothing
Breastplate and gauntlets
Small knife
Two small healing potions
Some dried foods
Cloak of Repressed Rage (This brown cloak that Ronson wears is actually some kind of magical item that has always made him uneasy, but has always felt he must keep it. If Ronson gives into the whispers of the cloak that tell him to unleash his rage, then he loses control of himself, the cape flowing around his skin and affixing itself to him and giving him the appearance of a bronze man. This causes him to ignore pain and push his body beyond its limits, along with making it impossible for him to tell friend and foe. However, old bonds give him clarity when attacking allies, and cause him to resist the strikes against his allies, dealing significantly less damage to them. Once released from control of the possessive magic, Ronson will lose 15% of his maximum HP. This health will be recovered if he is able to rest three times consecutively, but if not, the loss is permanent.)
Normally I don't allow applications whenever the main party is in the Wrinkle or about to enter it. However, since the current four players is less than I would prefer, I'll allow one more application.
That said, there are a few comments I'll make before I will accept it:
- Since you have taken a negative ability, you are allowed to have four positive abilities rather than three.
- Wide Strikes costs 14 FP, refunds 6 FP, and costs 100% more for each consecutive Wide Strike.
- Harsh Life adds +1/+1 to Strength and Faith, which exceed the stat cap. This means you have 16 strength, 11 will, and 55 FP. It also adds +2 to any stat that would help you overcome a fear/demoralization check.
- The Bannersword is much too heavy for you! It requires 20 strength to wield in two hands without penalty. Wielding it without the proper strength will result in a -1 speed penalty for every point of strength you are missing.
- The Bannersword has the attributes Long and Heavy. (Actions involving its use subtract 1 speed, and actions involving its use will act before an opponent if you both rolled the same speed.)
- Although the Cloak of Repressed Rage is interesting thematically, you will probably kill a teammate at some point with it. Since I'd rather not have teammates die from the actions of another teammate--even if they were in good will--attacks to teammates while under the effects of the Cloak will deal significantly less damage to teammates below 30% of their max health (including damage that would put targets below 30% of their max health). To balance this out, the health penalty is increased to 15%.
