(Ah, sorry for being so long in the reserve list; and sorry for the history, I'm not much of a history writer, just tell me if I need to add more.)
Name: Valerie Pilgrim (“Pilgrim” For short)
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Pilgrim has her own unique taste, with deep maroon-purple hair going just below her upper back, curled into slim springs. Very light caramel skin, with judging green eyes. She is rather evenly proportioned, the only flaw is a small scar just under her jaw. Pale freckles spot around her face, however she normally tries to hide them with make up whenever there's any around. She is 5'6, but sometimes perceived shorter as she hunches slightly. The only time she smiles is for about a few seconds, as she never felt happy enough to smile any longer.
Clothing: Thin blue-ish purple high neck shirt, yellow Leopard spotted connected scarf, navy tights with dark grey sneakers.
History:
Pilgrim originated in Scotland, despite her being Half English and French. She lived with her schizophrenic mother; however her mother was accused of murdering Pilgrim's Early childhood care teacher: Sending her to jail for several years. Her father, Lyod Pilgrim, took care of Pilgrim for the years her mother was in jail. Due to financial problems, they had to move out to another country- Texas as there was a house for sale there.
Pilgrim wished to be a Stunt car driver in the movies, training was expensive at the time to complete it; instead she took herself to Climbing. Pilgrim had one flaw- being mute, not being able to speak. She slowly learned Sign language, even though many didn't understand it properly.
A call came one day, when Pilgrim was 16, that her mother had committed suicide. Shaken, she tried not to meet others than her father, and a handful of internet friends. This led to her losing the ability of being able to make friends easily.
Claustrophobia
Muteness (Inability to speak)
Arachnophobia (Fear of spiders)
Socially awkward
Other: (If the muteness thing is too much, just say )
I guess this is as good of a time as any to reveal this. GeorgeNinja has also joined the RP. He sent me his application over PM and I accepted it. In her words, she didn't want to post this on the forums as she doesn't know how active she'll be able to be. Her character will be acting as a Michone type character for the purposes of this RP, popping in and out at will. Her character, who shall remain unnamed for the time being, is also mute.
As to not have the awkward situation that occurs when two mute people meet, and are unable to speak with each other, I ask that you remove the Muteness altogether stashalee. Don't worry, you don't have to add anything in its place, just remove it.

I am going to wait until tomorrow to start. I have quite a bit of homework and need to spend my time doing that. The IC thread will be up within the next 24 hours. If you want to get accepted before RP starts, please make sure you have your app done.
Looks interesting... Is it too late to join the party? I hope not =)
Name: James Carlson
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Stands at 5'9", weighs about 120 pounds. Has a skinny, athletic build that shows off a bit more of his bone structure than his family (used to) think healthy. Has messy, jet-black hair on first inspection, though to a more discerning eye it's actually a very dark brown. Sports a pair of warm, brown eyes that sparkle mischievously when he's about to do something stupid. Rather lanky, but far more coordinated than his immediate appearance would indicate. Not the most muscle-bound guy ever, but since the apocalypse began the constant exercise has whipped his body into some semblance of a respectable view. Has a tattoo on his right shoulder (usually covered by his clothes) of a red heart with black angel-style wings. Has a long, thin scar stretching from the front of his right shoulder to about the middle of his stomach from where an armed zombie slashed him in a close scrape.
Clothing:
Wears a dark gray short-sleeved T-shirt with a blue Nightwing logo across the front, a black zip-up hoodie with the inscription "Hero's Blade" in red on the front (usually unzipped, even in cold weather), jeans, and a pair of black and white tennis shoes. Also often seen with a simple black sword sheath strapped diagonally across his back. All his clothes are pretty beat up, but in serviceable shape.
History:
Throughout his life, James has been told that he wasn't good enough. Even though he was an ace student, a good athlete, and at least adequate at almost everything he did, it never seemed to be good enough to satisfy his parents, his teachers, and even his fellow students. Driven to introversion by the lack of support he received from the people around him, he turned to computers for solace, becoming an expert in all things code. This also led him to become extremely good at video games, improving his reflexes, critical thinking, and ability to keep calm in dangerous situations far beyond average.
James also trained in swordsmanship throughout his life, from the time he was old enough to lift and swing a simple foam sword. Before long, he was easily one of the most dangerous people in the country, assuming, of course, that he was supplied a serviceable weapon (or at least, so he'd like to think).
When the apocalypse began in earnest, James and his family were forced from their home by the oncoming tide of zombies. During their escape, his mother and father fell to the horde, leaving only James and his younger sister to make their way out of town and away from the crowds of mindless, unkillable beasts. Unfortunately, his sister, unbeknownst to either of them, was bitten in the same wave that took their parents; it was only a matter of time before she changed, cornering her brother in their shelter that same night, wielding both a knife and the threat of forced enlistment into the army of the undead. In order to escape, James was forced to leave his sister laying in pieces on the ground of their shelter, escaping with a near-broken will and the long scar across his chest.
Ever since his family fell, James has wandered the wilderness, surviving only on instinct and willpower. His only memento of his family is the sword that he brought with him from his home, which is also the sword that tore apart his sister's body (a rather bittersweet memento to be sure). The sword in question is a simple black-and-silver longsword, with a longer-than-average handle that allows for either one-handed or two-handed wielding and no guard to speak of. He usually wears it sheathed across his back in a special sheath he designed that allows him to effortlessly draw or sheathe it in a moment.
Strengths:
Swordsmanship
Fairly athletic, although not amazing
Expert hacker (though that's not probably going to be much use)
Very observant; usually the first to notice nearby danger
Extremely high bar for panic; doesn't freak out easily
Weaknesses:
Tends to be a lone wolf; doesn't play very well with others
A bit cocky and arrogant, which gets him into unnecessary scrapes
A little on the over-heroic side; would rather die a heroic death than get away scot-free (again, puts him in unnecessary danger)
Tires easily when forced to fight; can only last about 5 minutes of serious fighting before he needs to rest
Other:
James, having watched one too many "lone hero saves the day" movies, has an extreme tendency to try to play the hero, even in ridiculously impossible situations; be warned that he may get even his friends into trouble by trying to take on something he really shouldn't.

This one's a toughy. I like the idea of the guy who uses the zombie apocalypse as a chance to play out his Batman fantasy, but this character has me torn. The strengths and weaknesses don't quite balance each other out and I am very worried that this character is going to become OP quickly. I would ask that you add some kind of major weakness to balance out the Swordsmanship and Level-Headed factors of the character. Some type of code of honor/vow to live by (a' la Batman's no-kill rule) or something might balance it out. As long as it feels more balanced, I'll be fine with whatever you come up with. For now you are... Postponed.
The addition of some kind of weakness or something to balance the characters strengths and weaknesses will result in you being accepted.
In other news, this has become by-far one of the most popular RPs I've made, and the IC thread isn't even up.

Edited my original app - not sure if it quite balances, but he now has fairly low endurance in fighting situations, which will prevent him from doing things like just leaping into the middle of a giant horde and slaying them all. That way he may be able to take on a small force without too much trouble, but too many and he gets tired and is likely to screw up and die (about 10-15 is his limit, and that's in an emergency). If he needs a bit more balancing, just let me know.
Appearance: Abraham stands in at around 5'11 and weighing 154 lbs. He's Caucasian wit shaggy brown auburn hair that barely reaches his neck. He has baby blue eyes and has a small scar above his right eyebrow. He prefers to keep himself clean shaven, however since personal hygiene is a lesser need than survival he has grown a small beard. Abraham has an athletic body from his years of playing college football and constant visits to the gym.
Clothing: Abraham has always dressed formally and functionally. His current outfit consists of a navy explorer jacket with duct tape wrapped around the forearms and a red button-down shirt underneath it. He wears a pair of navy jeans and brown hiking boots. He also has a dark green backpack that he uses for storage.
History: Abraham was, by all definition, a normal kid. He grew up in a good household, was born in the normal city of Boston, had average grades, made friends and all of that. He always blended into the background, never really stood out from the crowd. His parents were okay with that, he stayed out of trouble and obeyed his parents. For a time, Abraham was happy with that too, until he realized his true passion. Abraham had always payed attention in class, but not on the lessons being taught. No he payed attention to the teachers. He admired how they could hold the student’s attention with ease and how they could shape their future. When Abraham turned 13 he began to follow a career in education. His parents had fully supported his decision to go into education and backed him through it all the way.
When it was time for him to go off to college he decided to go to a smaller college in a town called Small in Texas. He worked hard to earn his degree in education until finally he had completed college and was ready to teach. However as it turned out teachers weren’t exactly in high demand at the time so Abraham needed to find another thing to do in order to pass the time. Along with getting together with some of his college friends to play football, Abraham began to go to the nearby gym. His patience finally paid off as he was offered a job as a professor at the very same college he attended. For 5 years he worked as a professor at the college and he had earned enough money to rent an apartment. Everything was looking up until one day he had received a phone call. Abraham had taken a sick day that day so he didn’t have to go into work.
It was his father, calling to warn him. Some strange epidemic was rushing over the country like wildfire and he was worried about Abrahams safety. Before Abraham could calm his father down he heard a crash and then screaming on the other end of the phone. After yelling for his father for a few minutes Abraham realized that whatever this thing is the students on the campus wouldn’t have a clue. Grabbing a baseball bat just in case anything happened, Abraham quickly made his way to the college. What he saw had horrified him beyond anything he had seen before. Those “things” or whatever you call them had already arrived at the campus. It was chaos, students running and pleading for their lives as their former friends, teachers and even siblings started to tear into their flesh.
Abraham tried to do everything he could to help, but in the end he could only save 2 of the students before they had to leave. He took them back to his apartment so they could figure out what was happening. They decided to hole up in his apartment and try to wait this thing out. His apartment was at the top of a large flight of stairs so barricading it was as easy as pushing his couch in front of the stairs.
At first things seemed to work out, they had plenty of food and water to last them a while, and those things didn’t seem smart enough to realize that anyone was up there as long as they kept quiet. However, it had been 2 months since the beginning of the epidemic and food was running scarce. The 2 students had gone out to search for food the night before while Abraham was sleeping. When he woke up, he waited for them to come back……. except they didn’t. It has been 3 months now and the apartment is no longer a viable option to stay in. Deciding to move out Abraham gathered as much food, water and other necessities into his backpack, grabbed a baseball bat, a small 9mm handgun that he had bought for self-defense, and a kitchen knife before heading out into the brave unknown.
Strengths: Close-quarters combat Leadership skills More stamina than an average man Diplomacy skills
Weaknesses: Feels responsible for the deaths of his students Will attempt to help anyone human Is very hesitant to kill human enemies If anyone he is close to gets hurt he will enter a stage of guilt-induced depression
Other: This is my attempt at getting back into roleplaying. Please inform me if I have made any mistakes.

1 Year ago the military was on the losing side of the war. All seemed bleak until one soldier brought a penguin in to training. They had trained that penguin in the use of explosives and sent him out into the field. They had thought that they had won but the agent went rouge. Now he only lives on as a legend, the legend of ShotgunPenguin.

tripl3dogdare, just a reminder that these zombies are supposed to be insanely hard to defeat. In order to defeat a zombie you'd have to completely annihilate the zombie, or somehow handicap the zombie. Even defeating 5 zombies by a single person would be what I'd assume a mary sue character.

Other than a few spelling and grammar mistakes, the character looks good. I don't see any major problems with him and he has a number of decently exploitable weaknesses.
I see no problem with this character... Accepted!

WIth the fix, it looks good. Thank you for working with me: Accepted!
Can't post tonight. I will be back in 10-12 hours to present the consequences for some of your actions. Remember, ALL actions have consequences. See y'all in the morning.
Might I suggest reading stashalee's post, Iceinfly? Yeah, haha, I guess you kinda forgot to read it I s'pose.
Once that is done, you will be...
Accepted!
That's a tad unfortunate, However:
Does that count? Otherwise I'll remove it.
Oh, okay, that's fine then. I didn't notice that line. It's fine if she uses sign language and doesn't speak. No need to remove it.
*Phew* I can keep her voiceless then.
I quite think that's enough people to start then, wouldn't you agree? Five people, nice.
I am going to wait until tomorrow to start. I have quite a bit of homework and need to spend my time doing that. The IC thread will be up within the next 24 hours. If you want to get accepted before RP starts, please make sure you have your app done.
IC thread hype!!!

In other, other news, I have updated the OP with what all these colorful words mean. Check the "Application" section for more information.
I am headed off to bed, I will be back to review any other applications and set up the IC thread in the morning.
Name: Abraham Everett
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Strengths:
Close-quarters combat
Leadership skills
More stamina than an average man
Diplomacy skills
Weaknesses:
Feels responsible for the deaths of his students
Will attempt to help anyone human
Is very hesitant to kill human enemies
If anyone he is close to gets hurt he will enter a stage of guilt-induced depression
Other:
This is my attempt at getting back into roleplaying. Please inform me if I have made any mistakes.
tripl3dogdare, just a reminder that these zombies are supposed to be insanely hard to defeat.

Can't post tonight. I will be back in 10-12 hours to present the consequences for some of your actions. Remember, ALL actions have consequences. See y'all in the morning.
Next IC post is up. I had a migraine the past few days and couldn't look at my phone or my computer for that time. I hope you all understand.
