The castle stands, untouched. Enemies slowly closing in, armies amassing just outside the range of the artillery. We're starting to lose supplies, as nothing is capable of breaching the enemy lines at this point.

Callandra quickly fills out the application and looks at the man before her. She guessed he was in his mid twenties, 24 maybe? It was hard to tell. A quick glance at his weapons and muscle shows that he's a skilled fighter. As she hands the sheet to him, she looks more closely at his face. He looked friendly enough, but Callandra knew looks could be deceiving.
Arthur steadily approached the imposing castle, his eyes drinking in as much detail of the building as they could. He noted the knights and archers around the castle grounds, keeping an eye out for the enemy. He quickened his pace, not wanting to be mistaken for an enemy, however unlikely that was. He passed through the large gates set into the walls which were much larger than he originally anticipated. He approached a tent labelled 'Recruitment', logically this would be the place where one would sign up to help the cause. Inside the cream coloured cloth tent there was a table with some writing implements and a fairly intimidating man handing people pieces of paper. Arthur approached the man and was handed some paper. A quick scan of the paper revealed that it was an application. Arthur walked over to the table and quickly filled out the required information before handing it back to the person who gave it to him. Arthur wondered just what the plan was to stop the Lords of Chaos, he wondered just how they could be stopped. He looked over to the other people in the tent, thinking that the plan to defeat the Lords of Chaos would be revealed soon. He was nervous about trying to stop them, could they be stopped? He just stood and waited and hoped that whatever the plan was, it would work.

Callandra glanced up from where she was standing as a man entered the tent. Her steely eyes followed him as he filled out his application. From behind he reminded her of her brother, but she quickly looked away to avoid staring. She observed the other people in the tent, eyes cold and calculating. Becoming impatient she began to pick at the hem of her cloak, waiting for something to happen and trying not to focus on one thing for too long. Absentmindedly she put her hand on her daggers, reassuring herself that they were still there.
Zack quickly looked over both applications before crumpling them up and tossing them aside. "Never cared much for them really. Now.. Both of you. We can't just let anyone join the higher ranks of the army just because you say you're nephalem. There's a test. You're objective will be quite simple really. Spar with one of our other nephalem recruits to show your skill. Where are those.. Oh there they are." Zack said as three young men approached from the other side of the tent. They appeared to be having a playful discussion before falling silent under Zacks gaze. One nodded. "Uh, hey. New people. I'm Tezzeret." He said. He was about average height, skinny and void of most muscle. He wore blue robes, outlined in red. "This" He said, slapping the man next to him on the back of the head. "Is Niv" He said, laughing a little. The person, who's name is apparently Niv, shook his head. "Thanks for the introduction." He said. His voice was rather high pitch for a guy. He was average build and slightly taller than Tezzeret. He wore simple pants and shirt, but his power was obvious in the fact that he radiated heat, as well as occasional sparks of energy flew around and off him. The last looked over. "And well, I'm Elspeth." He said. He is extremely muscular, making Zack look small. His body could almost be a walking armory - just from what you can see there is a large lance on his back, two scimitars on either hip, a dagger on both ankles, a large two handed sword on his back leaning to the side, a shield strapped to his left arm, a bow over his left shoulder and arrows over the right. His skin is also a darker shade than most.
"And well, you get to choose who you fight. Elspeth there is the newest edition, but don't let that fool you. He's not too easy." Zack said, pointing to a scar on his left arm. "He actually managed to hit me. Which is well.. Abnormal." He finished.
Arthur watched as his application was just thrown away, he felt a twinge of annoyance at that. He faced the man who threw the applications again when he spoke about testing to prove that he was a nephalem. He thought that was fair, after all any liar could claim to be a nephalem to get into the higher ranks. He was then told that he would have to spar with one of the other recruits. He nodded at each of them when the introduced themselves. He was going to have to spar with one of them, but which one would he choose. He needed to chose based upon which one his power would work on best so that it was clear that he could join the ranks of other nephalem. Probably not Elspeth, Arthur's power was based on psychic force, sort of like telekinesis but instead of making object move with his mind, he 'pushed' them with his mind. Elspeth was quite large, and Arthur thought his power wouldn't work as well as on the others. He looked at Tezzeret, he appeared to be some sort of mage. Mages knew magic and might be able to block his ability. So he decided on Niv, thinking that maybe his ability would work best on him. With his preliminary assessment done, Arthur thought it best to introduce himself. "I'm Arthur, nice to meet you" he said with a halfhearted smile, "And I think that I would like to spar with Niv."

Callandra raises an eyebrow as the applications are tossed, but remains silent. A small coil of dread starts in the pit of her stomach when she hears that they'll have to spar, and her eyes widen slightly as the three men walk over. She was still observing the them when the other recruit spoke up. Now my choices are even more limited. Great. She considered her choices, Tezzeret, who, judging by his robes, appeared to be a Mage. He didn't look extremely strong, but Callandra knew from experience that physical strength wasn't everything. Her other choice was Elspeth, she had to tilt her chin up to actually see his face. He was huge, making Callandra almost want to take a step back. Almost. Callandra definitely didn't want to spar with Tezzeret, she knew how weak her magic was so she would be helpless to stop any magical attacks. Which left her with... Elspeth. She supposed it could work, someone that big shouldn't be able to move that fast. After all speed and agility were her specialty. Taking a deep breath she spoke up. "I'm Callandra" she said, extending her hand to Elspeth with a slight smirk. "Looks like I'll be sparring with you."
Niv smiled. "Yeah, this'll be fun. Come on then." He walked forward, leading to a large circle in dirt. On either side was a stair case leading down into the pit that was a sparring ring. No escape. He walked down into the pit, turning and ready to fight.
Elspeth shuffled. "Hm. Ok then." He said, his voice low and powerful. He walked off, leading down a right corridor to a similar looking pit. I have to be careful not to kill this one.. He thought to himself as he walked to the bottom and turned. He pulled out one of the scimitars on his side, wielding it in his right, shield raised on his left arm.

Callandra follows Elspeth, going over her strategies in her head. If I'm going to prove myself I'm going to have to use my magic too. She glanced up at Elspeth. Dammit I hope he's not fireproof. As they reach the ring, Callandra unsheathes both of her daggers and holds them in their respective hands. She takes her stance and waits for Elspeth to make the first move. Lets see your fighting style. She adjusts her balanced weight, getting ready to quickly dart in either direction.
Elspeth raised an eye brow. Wants me to go first. Good choice.. He thought. His body blurred, becoming nearly invisible as he moved faster than anyone could see, suddenly appearing above Callandra with his shield coming at her head from above.
Arthur strode to the pit in the dirt, observing his surroundings. He watched as Niv walked into the pit and followed at a calm pace. Walking down the stairs with an air of forced calm he made his way to his chosen spot in the sparring ring. The pit prevented escape from the sparring ring, Arthur wasn't sure if he should be concerned by this or not. Carefully observing his opponent, watching to see if they would make a move. Inside he felt nervous, contrasting to his air of calm. He worried about what Niv's abilities were, he thought that maybe it would be a good idea to go second, so that he saw what Niv could do. But by the same logic, it might be a good idea to attack first. His abilities revolved around psychic energy and using that to attack, as for what Niv's abilitoes were Arthur had no way of knowing. This made him worry, perhaps he had made the wrong decision in sparring with Niv, perhaps it was the right one. Arthur stood in a sort of defensive stance as he waited to see what Niv would do. He prepared to use his ability to block an attack or to initiate one. Unsure about the order in which they should start, he said in a serious tone "Do you want to go first or shall I?"

Surprised at his speed, Callandra pushes her panic down and quickly darts to the left. She uses Elspeth's momentum of the swing against him and flicks her dagger up as she goes by, aiming the flaming blade to slice at his shield arm As it comes down.
((So wait, no actual applications. Do we just join in?))

Elspeth rolls to the side upon landing, ignoring the searing hot wound on his arm. He sheathed the scimitar, pulling the large two handed sword out of it's sheath on his back. It was easily 6 feet long, and looked wickedly sharp. The sword began to glow bright white and Elspeth sliced the ground, causing a large ripple to go through the ground as if made of water, and the spot where the blade made contact was turned to glass.
Niv smiled. I better take it easy this time.. He thought. Bright blue energy flowed around him, acting like a weird fusion of fire, lightning, and water. It flowed into his hand, taking a form similar to a sword. The sword appeared thick (due to the fact that it wasn't solid mass), but the blade and hilt were obviously defined. He began walking forward, his weapon at the ready.
Arthur watched as Niv was surrounded by some sort of strange blue energy that appeared as if it was made of very elements themselves. Arthur was shocked, the energy looked harmful. He didn't want to be struck by it. It flowed into his hand forming what looked like a sword. Arthur's only thought at this point was if he was hit by that it wouldn't end well for him. He thought that maybe Niv had energy based powers, that seemed to make sense of what he saw. Anticipation filled him as Niv began walking toward him, porbably attempting to strike first. However Arthur would not let that happen, not yet. He lifted his hands, focussing his power. An orb of psychic energy formed in his hands, it appeared transparent with a grey tinge. It distorted the light that passed through it as if it was made of glass, with anything behind it appearing upside-down through the orb. The orb grew until it had a diameter of about half a metre, at which point Arthur extended his right arm, the orb following it and residing in his right hand. With a sort of pushing motion, the orb flew out of his hand. It flew towards its target, Niv, seemingly uneffected by gravity. Should it hit its target Niv would be thrown back by psychic force. With any luck it would hit and Arthur wouldn't be struck by the elemental sword.
The same blue energy erupted around Niv, moving at a lightning fast speed across the ground and then going upwards, causing the orb to hit the energy, which was effected, but left Niv perfectly fine. He was now within striking distance, and the energy sword in his right hand came slicing at Arhurs chest from the right, however it wasn't a full power swing and it was obviously a bit slower than normal.

Callandra extinguishes the fire on her blades, not wanting to waste it. She spy's the wound on Elspeth's arm with a small feeling of triumph, it's not much, but she can work with it. She watches with narrowed eyes as Elspeth pulls out a wicked looking sword and slices the ground. As the ground ripples she looks down and jumps back in surprise, she had never seen this before. That can't be good. As the contact point turns to glass, she glances between it and the sword. Quickly masking her confusion she raises an eyebrow at Elspeth challengingly. Catching it, she chides herself, Don't be cocky, Callandra. It isn't over yet.
((What is Elspeth wearing and does he have hair?? Just in case something needs to be set on fire :P))
((Whoops, italics don't seem to be working on my above post. Should be able to figure out what she's thinking though ( That can't be good & Don't be cocky, Callandra. It isn't over yet). ))
Arthur was knocked to the ground by the blow. He wasn't expecting Niv to stop his attack so completely, he wasn't even pushed back a little bit. He knew it was time to rethink his strategy. Perhaps he should focus on defence and trying to keep Niv far enough away so that he couldn't land another blow. Getting back onto his feet, Arthur began focussing his power again. Changing to a more defensive posture, the air around Arthur began to waver as the psychic energy formed a shield around him. But rather than having the shield stay put, Arthur made it expand instead. Quickly it became less of a shield and more of a pulse of psychic energy. Perhaps this time it would affect Niv instead of being blocked. Arthur wasn't sure how well he was going in the sparring excercise but he suspected it wasn't going too well. He hoped that despite his initial attack being blocked that his chances of pass this test and being able to help out were not diminished. His plan was that when the pulse either hit Niv or was blocked again, he would let it fade and create another shield around himself, to stop a counterattack. He watched and waited to see if his attack did anything, hoping that it did and that if it didn't that his chances of being accepted and being able to help out were not being diminished.
