So, I went digging through my older sketchbooks for various artwork that I had made, before. Some furry, some not. Some of the drawings that I used to be proud of and call acceptable, were rather laughable and I found myself face-planting into my pillow, with embarrassment. But, I chose the ones I was proud of, for some reason or another, and I am going to display them all here. A lot of them are just.. action scenes. Less simple than girls standing, ya feel?
So this is Kaii and Noël. -cough- Nothing more to say, this was just something I did to show the two together, looking relatively natural.
Now, this was something I did for a story idea I had. I have no idea what it was, and I don't think I even had a plot planned out, just a name and the characters. Yeah, I'm weird like that. I think that was an interpretation of myself there, and most definitely that was Kaii.
So that's me. Fighting things. I never finished this because I couldn't draw the wither properly. Everything else looks alright though, if I do say so myself.
So like I've said in the past, I imagine what my characters would be like as actual beings. I think that was an early version of Dakota. That there is definitely myself sitting next to her.
This is actually a pretty neat piece that I never finished because I simply didn't know how to. There's Kaii. There's a dragon. I think we all know Kaii could take it.
Once again, I'm especially proud of this drawing here. Even though it lacks any furry related concepts, I think it turned out really well overall, despite the lack of colour and details. This is the same story and universe that Kaii and Noël originally existed in. Once again, the character here is based off of me.
This was my first attempt at drawing a landscape scene with any of my characters in it. This was actually quite recent, as you can see. If anyone remembers my many paragraphs describing Kaii's home, the 'Skylands', this will make sense to you.
So, this is a full body shot of Kaii. I'm happy I found this, I think I was putting off posting a picture of her from the front because I haven't drawn any nice looking recents.
So, I sort of saved the best for last.. My pride for this picture is rather unbelievable, despite the blank background, and just how a lot of the picture is lacking details. I apologize for the lack of fur. Let us just take in that his dip dyed hair had probably cost him more than his sword. That's me there, yet again. Sensing a pattern, anyone?
Thank you, to anyone who actually took the time to observe all these.
Deuces. As an afterthought, I'd just like to retract my comment about how the guy in the second image is me. My head is not shaped that way, nor is my mouth on my chin. I think I "done fahked up" the face there, when I drew it.
I use PaintToolSAI and Photoshop.
I have a Bamboo Graphics Tablet though, which is the reason I use SAI.
All hail the multi painted Lime Slice.
An all I use is those programs. Photoshop for Lighting adjustments, such as HDR should need be or Highlights/Shadows.
Okay checked out GIMP. Doesn't seem impossible to learn how to use, considering some of you know how to use it.
GIMP is not as difficult as it may seem at first. Over time when you play with all its features, you learn how to use them the best they offer. Gimp still has the best script/plugin system I have seen. Not to say its bump map ability is still superior to cashshop.
I realized that I've also forgotten to erase some reference lines on the head.
Why do I get the feeling that this will be the first picture I'll have to remove from here.
Well, at least you're aware that she's exaggerated...
The only real problem I see here is how exaggerated her proportions are. I'd really like to see you try to draw a female character with more modest, realistic proportions. Right now she just kinda screams "generic furry boob lady", not to mention doesn't her back hurt?
Realistically, her breasts should only be a quarter to half that size, same goes for the hips. I think she would look a lot better if she had a more realistic body type.
If there is some specific reason, like the whole "digital" thing you have going with your characters, this could actually work as a sort of comedic thing if used in moderation. Something glitches out and suddenly... Mega Boobs. The key to making this work would still be to normally have her with a normal body type.
Lets just say as of right now, I'm better with a physical pencil than a virtual one.
There is nothing wrong with traditional art whatsoever. I feel that the online community as a whole seems to focus too much on digital art, which can be discouraging for those of us that prefer a pencil and paper over a tablet or mouse.
Yeahhhh, N1trous, it's a good work of art. I'll give you that one. But yeah, that is REALLY exaggerated. Quite personally, I hope I don't offend anyone, but I'm not a big tittah kind of guy. Hence why all my characters are petite. But, I appreciate the artwork, well done.
I thought I was going to offend people by saying I prefer more cartoony art to the semi-realistic and "anime" styles that seem so popular now...
Anyways, I think I am in agreement here, I'm not huge into big boobs and all that either.

Well, the whole female form thing IS indeed a glitch, considering that he is an AI "living" within nanotechnology.
And the overall character does not weigh much, as he/she is just a pressurized hollow shell (sort of like a balloon). Sharp things are recommended to be kept away from him for obvious reasons (*boom*).
I can probably have her be capable of partially stabilizing the form into a more realistic one, I'll think about that.
And honestly, I wanted that size because I wanted to give her something that would cause problems, I didn't do it entirely out of perversion.
I do some programming stuff but haven't managed to ever actually finish a project. If you ever want any help with a project I'd love something to do during the days while waiting for Fox's stream :3
@Galactic: I am loving your art! Do you have an FA page I can watch?
lol well I'm employed by the game studio, if you wanted to work there you would have to contact the HR and submit your resume your portfolio and I think do a programming test, (im not sure how they accept new programmers) but if you wanted to help me out with something, you may be able to help with a project I am doing on my own time. It's a minecraft server i'm building called Deadman Dungeons, and we may need some more Java programmers to help make our plugins and mod.
I find it amusing she has the specific (few lacking) characteristics I look for in a character. You are a very good sketcher, given modeling previews somewhere in the back posts, I can see why. You have a very good set of skills for 3D perspectives.
You do plan to color though id assume? Even if not it is still good as a sketch.
thank you, SeaWry :3 yes i do plan on coloring it, i stated last night on the colored version -__^

Thank you. c:
Actually, all of these were done a while back. Especially the ones without colour. One even dates back to September of 2012. I'm currently working on the picture that yours had inspired me to do, actually.
The style is actually that of Tom Fischbach. He does the webcomic "Twokinds". I've been following it for over a year now. He does round eyes like that, quite often. But also, the style is different in each one, because it was during the period where I was varying my art style, and I didn't have (still don't) my own specific art style. I just vary the parts and proportions from character to character, from scene to scene, and just from mood to mood.
Alright, so I'm kind of just working on this, as a nice quiet way to spend my evening. Muffin, this is the picture I was talking about - the one inspired from your nature loving character, admiring an insect. :3
Kaii, stalking something. Not entirely sure what. Perhaps she's simply traveling. Who knows. Either way, my lore behind her paintings/markings on her fur is pretty simple: each one has a meaning.
Dots represent successful hunts. (hence why she has so many, and hence why her trademark weapon is a bow)
the one on her shoulder, which is a really rough crescent shape, represents her royal background, as Princess of the Skyric tribes.
Her inner thighs are left blank, as they are to be touched only by her spouse, after the marriage ritual takes place. He adds on unique markings that he himself must create, as a sort of prerequisite that has to be fulfilled for him to marry her. (This is the same case for every Skyric girl)
Finally, the two lines on her cheeks represent.. I'm not quite sure what to call it. Her style? Her combat style? Her class? Basically, the two lightly painted lines show that she is a marksman - a deadeye shot. That she prefers to stick back, and assassinate her foes with a tomahawk, dagger, or arrow.
I put too much thought into these drawings, it's unbelievable. I've not put a single bit of it to paper, unfortunately. All my fifteen plus story ideas, characters, and my entire lore and mythology is committed to memory. One of these days, I am going to get a concussion and forget all of it. Life = ruined.
And if anyone is wondering what that crap is on the top left & bottom right, they are supposed to be a really rough sketch of a tree, and a stream. Oops.

hehe thats ironic, the next drawing I've been working on is also Ytchisi with a bow walking through a forest XD
but anyway, thats really nice, she looks very curious and I like the lore you have set up for her and her culture. :3

Ytchisi is your character, yes? The one you posted earlier?
Thank you, I was sort of going for that kind of feel, or expression. I have a much more complex story written out for her, as well as all her sisters, that I posted a while earlier. I had a quick look, and I found it.
In Skyria, the land of the.. Sky, the world was torn into floating continents. Basically, there are her people, the Skyric people, or the Skyrians even. She's one of three sisters, Kaii, Kaiera, and Noël. There are five main regions, that make up the Skylands. The Skyric villages, the Arcane fields, the Skyric Kingdoms, the Empire, and the 'below'.
The Skyric Villages are comprised of the native Skyrians, and Kaii is the tribe's tribal.. Princess. They're a simple sort of people, farming, hunting, etc. Constantly hunted by the Empire, which is the futuristic human coalition of sorts. But they're badasses so they tomahawk the humans skulls *wootwoot*
The Arcane fields are where Kaiera comes from, and they happen to be filled with Angels, Demons, Magic, swords, etc. So the three sisters were broken up at birth, and distributed to the three regions, to rule and govern over them, and learn three different skills that would be invaluable to restoring the Skylands to.. Earth. (That's a spoiler)
Everyone has magic within them, but require an outlet in order to shape and.. i'm trying to think of the word..
Control? AH. Bend it, to bend the magic to their will. That's where her Gauntlet comes from, on her left arm.
Noël rules over the kingdoms, as the Princess counterpart of Kaii. Now, she resides in the medieval ages, etc. Sort of.. they're researching more of like.. chants and miracles, as opposed to channeled spells and powers. (CHANNELED WAS THE WORD I WAS THINKING OF)
So all three Princesses rule over different time periods, almost. The Empire is futuristic, and the Below is.. something else entirely. Time is convoluted, after the "switch" occurred. So in order to cope with the loss of raw mass and life, the world ended up making up for it by linking together multiple time periods and universes, in order to mend what was lost.
To end this whole unnecessary story synopsis, i'll just say that the Below is the Earth's remains. Chunks have been torn out, to reveal black void. *similar to that in minecraft*
There's a thick crimson haze that has set itself down on it, and refuses to leave. On rare occasions, when an explorer decides to show off his bravery, (or stupidity) and brave the Below, the haze will thin itself out. You can then see shapes hanging above. Usually they are the last things you see.
"When the universe attempted to mend itself, it melded together various times and universes. That meant that concepts, such as light and dark, were melded together too. Even life and death."
~ Excerpt from 'The Book'
This link leads to the original post, and basically I'm including it for sake of reference to the picture of Kaiera that was included when I was originally talking about her.
Take a read, if you wish. It's rather long, in honesty. But hey, I'm glad you like it. c;

Ah, so there is a reason behind it. I was afraid that it was either not knowing how to draw female anatomy (it is tough to get down, for sure) or simply "I want to draw furry chicks with huge jugs".
The digital/nanotech aspects of these characters is really an interesting touch.
Pretty happy with this. Needed a good background piece for my art tumblr, and this is what it's going to be. The entire theme will be grayscale.
Greyscale is good. I like the simple design this character has.
Reminds me, I am still considering making a Tumblr account but I am just too frustrated and discouraged to draw anything new lately...

I know this feeling all too well, I am the same way. Design a character, their personality, history, all that stuff, then draw them a bunch but forget to actually write down any of their history or backstory anywhere...
It's good to see other people putting lots of thoughts into their characters though!
As an aside, since the topic of a "furry server" has come up on here a few times lately, my friend has been running a server for a while now and is looking for more players. I'll just drop a link to his thread because he wants to actually have people apply (so we don't get griefers/trolls/immature idiots). http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1874436-161-small-survival-build-server-for-mature-players/
While this isn't a "furry server" (what even IS that, anyways?) it's a friendly server and nobody is going to grief your stuff or anything just because you're a furry. I am even considering finding an area to reserve as "Furryville" if anyone is interested (we could use more towns and stuff). Just gonna leave this here, check it out if interested, no pressure.

Amen to that, brother. S'all up here. *taps head*
Aside from that, I'm seriously contemplating sitting down and typing out the whole Skylands story I've planned.
"Synergy" is the name, and the word Synergy refers to a combination of two or more substances, chemicals, agents, or just objects/compounds, that are combined to make something.. better. Better in some way or another.
There's a reason for my calling it that, but I don't feel comfortable putting my entire plot out onto the internet, because I don't like putting the originality of my future at risk, ya feel?
Pretty happy with this. Needed a good background piece for my art tumblr, and this is what it's going to be. The entire theme will be grayscale.
Would not want to get slapped by him. Look at those claws O.o
Also nice to see some aspiring game devs on here! That's the field I'm looking to go into when I'm finished with college. Speaking of Indie games, anyone ever heard of Dust: An Elysian Tail? It was originally only on xbox, but recently came to steam, and has some very cool furry animation.

Yes I have, and in fact, Dust: An Elysian Tail is one of our competitors XD
So, Galactic, I'm kind of looking to try and modify a DS rom I've been using on my computer, via an emulator. I wanted to ask if you have ever done the same, because the game I'm playing (Etrian Odyssey) has different character portraits, and some of them are rather ugly. I want to replace them, in short.
I did the same, quite recently, with an older game called Avernum 6. Anyone heard of it? I effectively created a portrait for one of the furry races there, and I think it turned out quite well.

I'm playing it at the moment. Fidget's pretty cute, but character-aside, the gameplay's probably something I wouldn't stick to in a while (entering a room and you can't leave until visible enemies are gone? Seriously? Also some enemies can one-hit kill you unless you parry, which is a bit dumb).
(At least there's the casual difficulty where you can't die, lol.)

Oops.
My drawing skills > Realism
Oh, no I don't have one. As I said before, these are my first furry-esque drawings I have done so I'm pretty new to the fandom.
hehe thats ironic, the next drawing I've been working on is also Ytchisi with a bow walking through a forest XD
but anyway, thats really nice, she looks very curious and I like the lore you have set up for her and her culture.

Take a read, if you wish. It's rather long, in honesty. But hey, I'm glad you like it. c;
Ah, so there is a reason behind it. I was afraid that it was either not knowing how to draw female anatomy (it is tough to get down, for sure) or simply "I want to draw furry chicks with huge jugs".
The digital/nanotech aspects of these characters is really an interesting touch.
Also nice to see some aspiring game devs on here! That's the field I'm looking to go into when I'm finished with college. Speaking of Indie games, anyone ever heard of Dust: An Elysian Tail? It was originally only on xbox, but recently came to steam, and has some very cool furry animation.
Ill check it out! I always like seeing other peoples servers; just like I like to review other people's art :3
Yes I have, and in fact, Dust: An Elysian Tail is one of our competitors XD

I did the same, quite recently, with an older game called Avernum 6. Anyone heard of it? I effectively created a portrait for one of the furry races there, and I think it turned out quite well.
Peace.
