Music in video games set the mood. It makes the situation scary, sad,or revengeful. Now I ask you, what is the one song in a video game or it's trailers that has effected you and how?
Mine is Ai no Uta from Pikmin. The translation left me teary-eyed.
The Turret Opera at the end of Portal 2. Okay so here is the deal. It is Christmas Break, and I get Portal 2 for Christmas. I pay though a good amount the first day, and I decide to finish it the second day....well bad luck. It was longer than I imagined.
So here is the Fourth day, and it seems as though I am about to finish the game. It is about 5:00 am. In the morning. Almost an all nighter. I go through and become attached to Chell and Glados and Weathly. And also, my friend texted me some of the lyrcis from the Opera, saying that it will be important to know them.
When I finally hear it, well lets just say there were some water works. The combination of just this story and Chell and GlaDos and everthing ahhh
I would also like to say that when playing minecraft single player, alone, this song is really mood setting. (Should start at 23 minutes or something

I always wanted to argue with a brick wall, I suppose the internet is the second best option.
Oh my, there are so many I can name. But here are the few that come to my head right now:
It's so simple, yet so beautiful... possibly my favorite music in any video game.
Would've posted the original song from Red/Blue, however this version feels a lot more emotional than the original, where as the original seemed more like a march of the dead. I like the original better, but this one conveys so much emotion.
The metroid series of games has such underrated, incredible music. This song has a very hopeful mood.
I could probably post any song from this series (which is an absolute masterpiece), but this one stood out to me the most. 'Dearly Beloved', the menu theme is definitely quite emotional as well. I would sit listening to it for such a long time, just letting in soak in.
Hope no one considers me unoriginal, but The Streets of Whiterun from Skyrim would have to be my pick(or at least the only one I can think of off the top of my head).
Lots of Kingdom Hearts songs. 'Sanctuary', 'Simple and Clean', 'The Other Promise', and 'Vector to the Heavens' deserve special mention. 'Depths of the Night/At the Bottom of the Night' from Chrono Trigger is also great, as is 'Midna's Lament' from Twilight Princess.

"Can't very well use magic when your wand is out of bullets." - Homestuck
“If, by some strange coincidence, a hundred sharp pencils I was carrying embedded themselves in a third-party, would that be an accidental death?” - Nisemonogatari

It sets a very sad, but hopeful mood.
Made for Portal 2
My name is Ozymandias, king of kings. Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair.
