Go watch the trailer, it's just terrible. As a super-fan of the book, I can't forgive Hollywood, ever, for adding fast-zombies, and Bradd Pitt. It's a bit tiring to see Hollywood rehashing old movies, then messing them up, and adapting books into film, and then messing those up too. What ever happened to the time when movies could tell a good story and be entertaining at the same time? The film industry will be a lost cause if they make one more PG-13 adaptation of an adult's film/book. More than likely, the film will have no gore, non-stop explosions and pointless fire-fights.
Before you say that you don't need gore to have a good movie, go watch Romero's zombie films, the gore did nothing but make them better.
Err, you kids make me ashamed to be a brony. World War Z is a novel by Max Brooks. Other than obvious influences by Romero's movies and other zombie movies, that book and it's companion book, the zombie survival guide, helped breath new life into the zombie horror-subgenre.

I listened to it on tape. It was indeed very good, and a great new take on the idea of a zombie apocalypse. Due to the scale of the book, though, any movie adaptation would fall short. But this one sounds particularly bad, so I'm not even going to try and watch it.
To be honest I got tired of zombies shortly after reading Cell. I think it doesn't help I'm a pretty avid RolePlayer and all I see are zombie RPs. So I'm not likely to go see it. Not be conscious choice, may sit down to watch or half-watch it if it happens to be on TV.
Otherwise, putting it in the same boat as vampire. They just don't make them like Graf Orlak anymore.

It's all about that money. I don't think most people in Hollywood care (there are some who do); if it makes money and gains a following, Hollywood will make it. The don't care if some, or all the fan-boys don't like it; other people will watch it and will "like" it because of the "non-stop explosion" or "the endless fire fights" and some people will go to see it just because it has Brad Pitt in it.
In the end, it's all about that money, and I bet if Hollywood could, they would make and sell porn movies.
Also, sadly "breath(s) (of) new life" don't really get recognized until later in life; just because it's revolutionary to one, doesn't mean it's going to be revolutionary to all, at least not now.
The sad thing is, there's a possiblity that 30 years from now it'll be a cult classic. I wonder what movies will be then? One big endless explosion/firefight because everybody has ADHD in the future? I DON'T WANT TO LIVE ON THIS PLANET ANYMORE. It's not like you can't make tons of money while still making a good movie, eventually people will find out that Hollywood's run out of ideas and is playing them with movies taylored to 12 year olds with 2 minute attention spans, and start not watching the ty movies until they start making good ones again.
I think it's good as a standalone zombie movie but it really has almost nothing to do with the book. It should be titled "Left 4 Dead: Eye of the Storm" or something.
C'mon, I haven't read World War Z, but this movie could be alright. To be honest, the only reason they used the title was because nobody was going to see it if it was just "Poopy Gun: Legend of Gregg: Zombie World", they just slapped the name on it.

World War Z came before Day Z. The movie is about World War Z.
In any case, I could care less really. And this is a thing Hollywood does in any case, so no skin off my bones.

I'd venture to say Game of Thrones. But that's a TV series.

It doesn't seem like they even intend to use the book for anything except maybe some setup for 'Only one man can save the world!'
