My computer was reporting HDD failing some weeks ago. Some days later, the warning was gone. Recently, when I kicked my CPU (to correct the monitor cable, it's always giving a blue shade on the screen), the HDD produces a loud rattling noise, and I turned off the power in reflex. I thought it was a head crash, so I tried to shake it while turning it on and off and see whether the rattle went silent or not. I figured out that tilting the CPU a bit clears the problem. Today, I turned on the computer without tilting the CPU and it booted smoothly (press F1, Esc and then Enter).
My questions are:
Is it an actual head crash?
How did tilting the CPU causes the head not to touch the plate? HDD are placed horizontally, right?
Why and how did the noise gone?
Is Disk Defragment making it worse? I tried running it, and it worked fast and smooth.
Is it safe enough to use now? What will happen if I accidentally kicked it again?
Is my grammar good? Please improve it, grammar nazis.

Usually if it was SMART (which this could be) it wouldn't make a mistake if there was a failure. Defragging may be the worst thing to do as it thrashes a hard drive to where it can actually get worse. How could there not be a monitor cable? VGA and HDMI are monitor cables. Are you sure it's the hard drive "rattling" probably wouldn't be a word I would describe it. Are you sure it's not like a fan running against a cable?
If you care about your data then turn the computer off until such time as you can get a drive to back stuff onto. When a HDD reports it's dieing it very, very rarely is wrong. I've seen this a lot of times in our small town where people get notices, ignore them, then get mad and sad that we cannot recover their data.

What I mean with monitor cable is the one which ends are blue. I don't know the name of it. I'm just sure that the cable is giving the blue shade. So I kicked the CPU bexause I couldn't care more about going behind my CPU and fixate the cable.
I haven't opened the case of my CPU, so I couldn't tell about what really happened. But SMART is already telling me to backup and replace and because the noise is coming from the front side of the CPU where the disk is located, so I assume it really is the HDD that crashed. I also smelled something metallic right after the rattle.
If it doesn't rattle anymore, does it means no more data gets corrupted? I had seen the contents of my folders and apparently nothing is lost.
What word will you use to replace 'rattle'? I had no idea.

Well, yeah, I kicked my PC. I'm sitting and the CPU is right beside my foot. Nudging it a bit doesn't seem to have any effect, but I can't imagine that kicking it would end up like this.

Your computer is dieing. Mechanical parts don't just fix themselves. if you care about your data you will backup all your files, or better yet bring it to a computer store and have them replace the hard drive for you. I would suggest the latter because it looks like you have no clue what you're doing.
Also, the tall box of your computer isn't a CPU.it is a desktop/tower/enclosure/case. Inside there are multiple pieces.

... Ok. Thanks guys for explaining what happened and for reminding me not to kick my PC again.

Okay, so I just brought the CPU to a local service center. The data from the old HDD was unextractable, so I'll start over.
Wish me luck on restoring my computer's former glory!

CPU is not short for computer and kicking your computer is one of the dumbest things you can do.
Actually CPU was commonly used to refer to the computer tower itself before about 10 years ago. My mother used to work at Bell 2 decades ago and she still refers to the towers as the CPU. As for the hard disk, yeah...drives can take some abuse while stationary, but kicking the drive while the platters are spun up is just asking for disaster.

I was going to help you but judging by the fact that you think CPU is short for computer and you kick your computer, you probably broke it.
Unless you have a laptop there is no such thing as a "monitor cable".
