The GTX 770's price averages around $330, about the same as the R9 280x. After some research, I found that it performs better in a lot of games. I'm impressed, Nvidia, you made a card that isn't annoyingly overpriced.
The 770 really isn't better in most cases. It surpasses the 280X in a few games but it falls behind or ties in the majority. Not only that, but the 280X is still inflated in price right now.

Uh, what?
Regardless, the 280X's MSRP is still $30 less (not that it matters with the idiotic Bitcoin miners buying up all the cards) and it's worlds better at 1440p+.

I found that the GTX 770 performs better in games I'd be interested in, and I've wanted an Nvidia card to play around with for some time now.
Also, I'm still gaming at 768p. Never upgraded my monitor.

IIRC Bitcoin mining rigs can't use GPUs anymore, but rather they need special hardware. Maybe litecoin and dogecoin miners though.
The cheapest 280x i can find in stock is like $390.
As of now they are about the same in performance, in some cases mantle should pull the 280x ahead.
I think nvidia's software is nice too. Geforce experience is really useful.
Then nvidia also has gsync, which is really looking tempting.
IIRC Gsync is hardware installed in the monitor right? SO to use it you'll need to buy new monitors... just wait for AMD's freesync.

I just can't take Dogecoins seriously, though they are probably the most efficient to mine at the moment.

AMD's going to have something that won't need a new monitor?

my 7870 has gotten my 10K doge coins since friday. Back then it was about ~2200 doge coins per $CAD. last time i checked, it was under 500 doge/CAD. If this keeps going, alot of people will be happy. But it probably won't.

From what i can tell, yeah. Although it seems to be in development for laptops, it will make it's way over to desktops soon enough.

fm87!Theoretically, shouldn't a lot of games be AMD optimized due to all of the main Next-Gen consoles (Wii U, PS4, Xbone) having AMD APU's?

At that resolution, a 270X would be able to max basically anything.
I am planning on upgrading, though. No higher than 1080p however, I don't find anything above to be that useful.

Cryptocurrency, whatever.
There is a $200 upgrade for existing 144hz asus monitors. Still overpriced.
But from what i hear only a few monitors support freesync.
I think that since gsync is new, it is really expensive, but in the future it may be cheaper/ easier to get.
I'm looking forward to both. I'm just sick of tearing and stuttering.
