They weren't giving you attitude or insulting you they were giving you their opinion on your build, its only insulting if you take it that way.
Well I took it that way, I did not ask for opinions so that was completely off the topic, I did not ask for build advise either. Just because they don't like it doesn't mean they have to call me or my build stupid or say it's a waste of my money.
to bad the 680 wont be able to pull those games on 3d max settings, going to have to lower some.
Cuda only would help if your program supports CUDA work. if not, then it wont do anything better than a 7970.
and those "Issues" are either old ones, or people pulling numbers that mean close to nothing in real world environments like frame lagg or whatever its called.
$500 with OS will max minecraft.
why wouldn't I get high settings with the 3D? If you can find me a good monitor that supports 3D with a 7970 and convince me that it is more worth it than Nvidia then please do so

And the money? Oh yeah, not a problem you got enough.

Are there any single GPU's that will max 3D? Any reviews I'm finding has either an SLI or XFire set up, and even then they sometimes struggle.

I like my Asus GTX 680 DirectCU II 4gb card, I'm sure EVGA.
Everyone on this forum will try and convince you that you only need a $500 computer that you will probably be able to upgrade the next year.
You know what you want, and I prefer NVIDIA then radeon cards and Intel > AMD.
AMD and radeon cards are more cheap good builds IMO, If someone was to ask me to give them a cheap build in the range of $600-700, I would try and get a NVIDIA GPU while still being the best computer you could make with the money.
You obviously have the money to spend, you don't seem to mind spending the money, I say go for it, my 680 is good.
If i remember right, someone complained about your 120gb SSD, I'm happy I didn't get a 60gb one, I have 55gb left on my SSD, allows me to have some programs on my SSD still.
MCF Ideal computer is $700 build which CPU is a AMD CPU which is probably hardly better then the equivalent / a tiny bit dearer Intel CPU with enough ram and a decentish GPU that will run MC.
I have seen so many builds that will not add a extra ~ $50 or less to the CPU to get the 4ghz 8 core AMD CPU (not sure of the model, probably no-one else because they prefer the 3.6ghz one) which ranking is pretty much the same as a intel i7 3820.
lol at guy above me, 60gb ssd but 55gb free? so that means you dont have your os on it since windows 7 is like 12 ish gb, fresh install last time i checked? Boy you sure know how to put an ssd to good use.
Good for you if you prefer nvidia/intel, keep it to yourself. you said you recommend it to other people, DONT, if its not the best for the price don't recommend it "because you like it".

If the OP wants to spend 2k, he obviously wants a high end computer, if you can't handle that he has more money then you, this is not the right sub forum for you. If he has a NVIDIA and Intel in his build he showed off, he obviously prefers them.
I saw you guys rage at a guy who had the 3 or 2 titans, He needed it for bushiness reasons, and all you guys did was cry because you can only afford that $600 budget including monitor computer.
What needs to be done too make this a better sub forum:
* People need to learn to fit the OP's budget, and get the best parts he can afford for WHAT HE WANTS, not for 20% of his proposed price.
* Stop only recommending AMD and Radeon, yes they are cheap, I would get one if I had a $700 budget too.
* If not the above 2, create a sub sub forum for this, named "AMD / Radeon Fanboys" where everything posted in the original sub forum will get a copy sent to the "AMD / Radeon Fanboys" sub sub forum, to allow you to wine about how you could make a cheaper computer then such and such when he wants to pay 2k for his computer, I swear when i see them, every pc part picker link is less performance then the one before.
* And last of all, learn to read before you cry because someone says the opposite brand for a part.
Forgot to reply to someone about saying Minecraft can be sometimes software rendered.
Minecraft uses LWJGL, (Leight Weight Java Game Library).
LWJGL is a binding of OpenGL.
OpenGL uses the GRAPHICS card to render.
With LWJGL, you can not even create a window if the graphics card does not support OpenGL.
Minecraft uses VBO's (Vertex Buffer Objects) an Array of floats containing the vertexs and if a interleaved VBO, also the Texture / Colour values, If not a second array is sent to the graphics card.
You then call on OpenGL to draw the Array(s) that has been binded and sent to the graphics card.
With some testing while I was on FTB, I found that it was using around 350MHz to render with everything on low, view distance was tiny, fast textures, vsync and balanced FPS.

I am glad I didn't bother posting, at one stage I was going to, to ask if anyone knew anything about certain things, now I am glad, It would of been the $700 budget PC that is gathering dust.
...I saw you guys rage at a guy who had the 3 or 2 titans, He needed it for bushiness reasons, and all you guys did was cry because you can only afford that $600 budget including monitor computer...
Only "raging" from me was because he got a 70X instead of 39K, but it is his money to do with what he wants. Only problem I had with it is that the 70X is not at all much better than the 39K, which isn't reflected in their price difference (about a 67% premium for a 1% improvement in performance potential is completely ridiculous in my opinion), so he likely didn't do the research to find that out before dropping cash on it. At least I helped him get to a stable 4.6GHz overclock on it, and he should know enough about OCing now to tweak it how he wants.
...
In general, yeah, there is a lot of random raging and misinformation in this section of the forum. A lot of people giving advice when they don't quite know what they're talking about either. Like the bits about the 680 "idling." Well, it doesn't idle when running Minecraft at max settings, and even if it did, it could be set not to, if idling was actually an issue. So really, just a made up potential issue from people that don't know what they're talking about.

No one argues, Intel is best for performance. AMD is best price/performance. a 8320 is around $180 last time i checked, it is hardly behind the i5-3570k in games, and surpasses it in rendering.
We don't prefer Radeon/AMD. they are the best right now. As said before, a 8320 is only hardly behind a i5 in gaming while cheaper, so we suggest it in builds. The 7970 is cheaper then a 680, while performing more or less on par in most games. SO we suggest it.
I have no problem suggesting a 2K computer, but it needs to be reasonable i posted a build of a cheaper price that contained a i5, 2X 7970s, and 3X monitors.
IIRC the thread your talking about correctly he was asking what kind of optifine he should use on that computer. the OP post sounded like he was either trolling, or bought that computer to play only minecraft. Even so the Titan is a WASTE of money. is you need something for gaming, a 7990 or 690 is better. For busniss level stuff, get a Workstation card..
We do fit budgets. thing is, people budgets are sometimes a waste. for example, 1.3k without multi monitor setups is as high as you should go, anything more is overkill. 2K/2.5k is as high as you should go with multi monitor systems. anything more is overkill.
price =/= performance. that's why you build a computer in the first place, its cheaper and better than a prebuilts. but people expect the terms of an alianware, spending $10k+ to get something good, so they have massive budgets.
We don't always suggest them. well, amd cards we do. After the 1K budget we go for Intel cpus. As stated before AMD are the best Price/performance cards out there. its not fanboyism.
this is a neutral forum. no basis here.
were suggesting the best part for the price.
no clue what your talking about there so have fun with software...

No offense, but you don't know some of the professional IT guys I do. Not all of it always translates over to personal gaming rig type builds either. Just saying...
I completely agree though that what that guy built was more of a show rig than a cost effective workstation or gaming rig.

Just every single PC build post, that someone posts something, it immediately gets told "NO, you pay $800" or close too it, and I don't think its a rare sight to see NVIDIA or Intel in a build who is not the OP.
Even on one of this sub forums for this on how to post in this section, They mention if the OP is pretty much willing to pay the money the NVIDIA card is better for performance, as it does not have such frame drops, and keeps it frames pretty constant.
A lot of tech people, I saw a few posts on Tom's Hardware about "You get what you payed for" implying paying a bit dearer for that NVIDIA card is always better.
for the AMD chips for less then 1k, that sounds prettyy decent, but I do suggest for more people to go for that 4ghz 8 core (8320 im guessing), i dont see many in part lists on this site.
I'm obviously not fanboying, I think I have suggest 2 or 3 AMD CPU builds and like 2 Intel, I do not know much about Radeon cards, So I usually go for the NVIDIA card atm.

That's not the issue at hand.
It is correct that the 7970 is faster and costs less, but he justified his reason for a 680 and it's perfectly plausible. End of story.
Really, I'm 14 and I don't cry at people when they get an inferior part, especially when they justify it.
It's like me saying that I am a contractor and I need a heavy duty pickup truck to haul stones and 2x4s or whatever in it, and you telling me that I only need a Toyota Corolla.

This is also true. People assume far too much in this section and all that does is add a level of confusion to threads. When someone comes on here with a specific question, you answer it people! There's no need to criticize every build that gets posted on here when the OP isn't looking for criticism.

we will only rage on budgets over 2k. Although if on a single monitor, a 60K+ build would do the same as a 1K build. And both would need to upgrade in the future anyways.
Go find any thread with a budget of 1K+ and say you cant find Intel i i said before, the 8320 or 6300 are the best chips for under 1k. AMD cards are the best cards for most gaming situations. And my 7870 has constant frames. What your thinking of is spikes in fps where one frame will hang for a few extra Micro seconds. Which, doesn't matter outside of numbers.
Nividia are better, BUT at the price point that have similar AMD cards they are worse. for example, the 7970 was made to compete with the 670, at around the same price point. but today, it competes with the 680, and even Titans in some situations.
We dont use the 4Ghz 8 core because its the 8360, a better binned 8320. for the price difference its not worth it, and the 8320 could just be overclocked up to 8350 speeds.
Your not fanboying although your claiming that Nividia and Intel (surprisingly the parts used in prebuilts, which fanboys flock over and claim because they're in Alianware its good) are better... I have said this before. yes, they are better, but at a price point. for example, the Titan is better than any AMD single gpu cards out there. Although for most builds, the AMD card will be better because the price of the titan would leave you with a crap CPU. The moment Nividia and/or Intel become the best price/performance again, then i will suggest them.
And yes, i work part time at a local computer store building and trouble shooting computers.
this is the last time i post here arguing in fear of a lock and a ban. if you wish to continue then message me.

[/end of rant]
@OP
Good decision too move to tom's hardware and buildapc (never heard of that one before actually), They are for sure more professional and will probably not give a bias opinion, and I'm sure they would laugh at this sub forum.
Thank you for understanding, finally someone gets it
I understand, because I have almost the same computer as you
I am glad I didn't bother posting, at one stage I was going to, to ask if anyone knew anything about certain things, now I am glad, It would of been the $700 budget PC that is gathering dust.

As stated before AMD are the best Price/performance cards out there. its not fanboyism.
this is a neutral forum. no basis here.
were suggesting the best part for the price.
no clue what your talking about there so have fun with software...
if anyone's crying, its your fanboy tears.
Most of the people here, well the good people, work as a IT for a living. we know what were saying.
if someone suggests Alienware or Cyberpower, wait for a custom-built list from someone who knows their stuff. Meh Rig

I gather that you are in the IT buisness, I prefer the Software / Game development.
^That wasn't directed at you, Cod. It was directed at the rest of the forum.
This is also true. People assume far too much in this section and all that does is add a level of confusion to threads. When someone comes on here with a specific question, you answer it people! There's no need to criticize every build that gets posted on here when the OP isn't looking for criticism.
off topic:
before i lose it... WHY is it that every time i hit backspace it goes to the beginning of my sentence?
we will only rage on budgets over 2k.
And yes, i work part time at a local computer store building and trouble shooting computers.
this is the last time i post here arguing in fear of a lock and a ban. if you wish to continue then message me.
if someone suggests Alienware or Cyberpower, wait for a custom-built list from someone who knows their stuff. Meh Rig
