Sorry if this has been hashed over - but I purchased a Microsoft Xbox/PC controller so we could use it for Minecraft. It was added and says working properly (Windows 8) without a cd - however nothing happens when in Minecraft.
There are no other games on the PC other than Simm City.
I downloaded Xpadder and still nothing.
Cannot activate Minecrontrol through Java - we get an error.
Is Minecraft for pc just not going to work with an Xbox controller - even though t is a Microsoft wired controller?
Thanks,
Dylan's Mom
Though not sure why you would want to use a controller in the first place.
No, it does not natively support controllers, this is something you should have researched beforehand.
You need to get a key mapping program and set it up to translate the controller button hits/control stick movements as mouse movements/clicks and keypresses.
The reason why I would want to use a controller is - cheaper to replace a broken controller than the keyboard on a new laptop that my son is repeatedly using same keys over and over...plus when in PVP he goes nuts banging on it.
Windows 8 also sucks as if you brush the keypad - all of a sudden you dont even see your game, you are onto something else (it came installed, new laptop).
I play with controller and mouse when needed or at same time. Anyone who thinks why play with a controller needs a clue. I am able to perform much more actions than someone using a keyboard and mouse combo only. Set jump to turbo for easy swimming etc. If anything you have more control over game. I get that some people sit in front of computer at a desk to play... I dont, I have it hooked to projector/tv and play in comfort of living room. For desk nerds i suppose keyboard mouse is perfect. I cant remember (other than at work) the last time i sat at a desk to play a computer game. Expand your experience and go controller on couch - or be a desk geek..
