Windows RT is a version of Windows 8 for tablets with ARM processors.
There is Store for Windows 8 and RT.
Minecraft could be priced at $19.99 in Windows store, compared to the cost of $26.99 for premium. Of course, you could download texture packs for Minecraft in Windows RT.
7 days trial would be available as well.
One problem is mods. Official mod support will have to wait.
So. You're proposing that Mojang package a version of minecraft for a tablet version of windows 8, sell it for lower than the actual price of the game, through a third party store, which I am sure will take a cut of that money and allow a free trial?
I don't think so.

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.
No. I believe Minecraft already has support for touchscreen laptops. If it didn't then that would be the only thing to change. Windows RT and Windows 8 can both run Minecraft just as well as Windows 7.

Notch wants nothing to do with Windows 8 and Microsoft.

Correct, Notch.. well Mojang and therefor Jeb... will not be making a Win8 specific app, there's really no need to as the PC version runs fine (with a bit of fiddling) on Win8.
Actually you can run minecraft on rt you just have to jailbreak it and then get ikvm java and run the the jar thru cmd or convert it to .exe. But you need to make minecraft run not on openGl but good luck to that. Because when you run it after installing everything you get white screen at the main menu.

I've got a Surface Pro, and I can tell you that enabling the "Touchscreen Mode" option does absolutely nothing. The game is 100% unplayable using the touchscreen. Ditto using the wacom pen.
The way Minecraft does turning is interesting. Every frame, it seems to reset the position of the mouse to center and then calculate how much it had to move it to get there. Based on that, the game then tilts the camera and turns your character.
The way the pen works is, when you hover it over the screen, it places the cursor beneath the pen. So each frame, Minecraft says "get back to the middle" and then turns, but the pen says "the cursor is here", so you end up turning extremely rapidly based on how far from the center of the screen the pen is being held.
The way touch works is it merely positions the cursor at where you touched it and registers a left click. So you touch the screen, break a block, Minecraft resets the cursor to the middle and tilts the camera/turns your character some amount proportional to how far from center your touch was.
Well, Minecraft is on XBox 360, which is a Microsoft product. Therefore, you are wrong.
minecraft is on xbox 360, however it isn't maintained by mojang, its maintained by 4j studios.
Marv said that NOTCH wanted nothing to do with windows 8 or Microsoft, 4j studios has nothing to do with notch or mojang, therefore, you're wrong.

If 4j studios is, with permission from Mojang, developing and maintaining the XBox version of a Mojang game, then they do have something to do with Mojang.
So then what does Mojang get from PE on android and iOS tablets? What would be so hard about putting it in the windows store? Is there something different in windows RT? I was pretty confused today when I was looking through the windows store. There seems to be almost nothing in the first place. And the fact that Minecraft wasn't there confused me. They've got a contract with microsoft, but apparently I misunderstood that right? Is it just meant for them to put it on xbox only?

Windows RT Runs on ARM, for which there isn't a reference JVM implementation.
