I was planning on buying a Radeon HD 7970 for my gaming PC. Should I wait until the next series and get the 8970 or buy now. My budget is tight so if the gpu is $500 (like the 7970 was) at release I can not afford that.. I am leaning more towards buying 7970 now, so should I buy now or wait?
if its the locked 3570 rather than the 3570K you should get an Intel Core i5-3450.
if your going to be running HD4000 get a GPU and as said oyu should go for a 7950 the 7970 is only about 5-10% more powerful for a significant premium. this would be a good one MSI R7950-2PMD3GD5/OC or a Gigabyte GV-R795WF3-3GD
Ok both the processors look good. Are there any good 7970 cards?
I do not plan on overclocking so would the 7970 be better and if so which card?
Eh, the 7970 is a high-binned 7950 with a bump in core/mem speeds and another shader or two. I'd say 7950 unless you're doing OpenCL stuff or OCing to GHz specs. I'd recommend the cheapest non-Visiontek, non-Powercolor, non-Diamond 7970/7950 you can find. The HISQ is a good one that's usually on sale.
i5 4670k @ 4.9GHz - Stock Heatsink - The rest is melted silicon but I think I have a graphics card in there somewhere It surprises me how many people on this forum can't read benchmarks.
Get the gigabyte or the XfX one.
